Thank you! The little beard chin tuft was something I knew I wanted to include from the beginning. I'm glad to hear they look handsome!

Here it is! The (first version) of my Arthur NPC! This mod introduces an NPC character based on the character Arthur of the Mountain Domain from the original Cattails Game. This is a purely fan interpretation of that character, with original art and writing by Silverhart. The mod contains the Arthur meta file, English language file, 1 icon file, 9 portrait files, 9 mail meta files, and 9 mail English language files This mod works with Alpha v0.96 To install unzip the file into your mods folder located in %LOCALAPPDATA%/Cattails_Wildwood_Story/mods (if you don't have a mods folder there, create one - if you need more help check out the Wildwood CC Documentation Mod Examples)
I would be very grateful for those that play with the mod to leave me some feedback. Typos, errors, broken or incorrect dialog keys, inconsistencies, or even just thoughts on the art or writing - I want to hear about it! Just take a screenshot of the problem and send it my way with any pertinent info. As of now you can befriend, exchange gifts with, date, romance, breakup and play festival games with Arthur. Arthur also has their own schedule - if you can't find them in your colony, they're likely off patrolling. My next plan is to add a den for Arthur, but that’s going to take me a bit more time to figure out. As a quick note: You are welcome to open the files, mess around, and modify things to your liking (though you may ruin some surprises if you do so before playing it). All I ask is that you don’t repost the mod or any of the art/dialogue without proper credit. Thanks!

Sadly I can't share screenshots for some reason, but I'm trying this out right away! So far the mod works well-you did a great job!
If I see any issues with the mod then I'll let you know too, okay?
Do you plan to do other characters as well?

Track of errors:
-Arthur meows twice during their introduction.
-"Having to leave our homeland was devestating devastating, but thou cannot allow thyself to be stuck in the past, #player_name#.///[happy]Were cats meant to go backwards, we'd have our paws on wrong-way-round!"
-Arthur meows twice when you first speak to them at the festival.

Thank you so much! Glad you're enjoying it - I've already fixed those two errors, so that will be updated when I get Arthur's den up and running.
As for other characters I have been batting around a couple of ideas, and I'm thinking of doing a completely original character next.

Oooo, that's amazing!! I can't wait to use this mod when I'm able to play the full game! And I look forward to the future mods you do, regardless if they're OCs or more Cattails 1 cats(nil my beloved). I'll keep an eye on this still for sure!

Glad to hear that's all been fixed-I'll update my previous message if I see anything else, okay? Cats from the previous game are nice and all, but it'd be really great to see what original characters you can come up with.

This is so cool! Your sprite work is amazing! Here's some (shortened)notes about thee, thou, and thy in the hopes you might find them a helpful resource. "Pronoun |Old English Equivalent | Example Nominative Case/You | Thou | O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou (you). . . Objective Case/You | Thee | Shall I compare thee (you) to a summer's day? Possessive Case/Your | Thy | O fair Ophelia, in thy (your) orisons. . ." The nominative case: "refers to the name of the subject, the person, place, or thing doing the action of the verb." The objective case: "is used to signify nouns that directly or indirectly receive the action of the verb." Sourced from a grammar textbook whose name I can't remember.Or simply: "Thou" corresponds to "who" or "whoever" while "thee" corresponds to "whom" or "whomever" with "who" being used as a stand in for he/she and whom being used as a stand in for him/her. Or simpler: "Thou" is used as a stand in for "he/she" while "thee" is used as a stand in for "him/her". "Thy" is "your" and "art" is "are" in modern english. Note: With questions things are often switched around. (Ex. With whom does he work? He works with him./Ex. Who's pencil is this? The pencil is his.) Here's how I would write some of Arthur's lines based on what I just stated: Original line: "And who speakth such, asks ye? I am Arthur! Noble Knight of the Wildwood, come to aid thee in thy most glorious quest." In modern english with grammatical adjustments: "Who speaks such? You ask. I am Arthur! Noble knight of the Wildwood! Come to aid you in your most glorious quest." In old english: "Who speakth such? Asks thee. I am Arthur! Noble knight of the Wildwood! Come to aid thee in thy most glorious quest!" Original line: "Hail, and well met, my (leader title)! I, Arthur, Noble Knight of the Wildwood, am ever at your service." In modern english with grammatical adjustments: "Hail, and well met, my (leader title). I, Arthur, noble knight of the Wildwood, am forever at your service." In old english: "Hail, and well met, my (leader title). I, Arthur, noble knight of the Wildwood, am forever at thy service." Explanation: "Your" translates to "thy" in old english. Original line: "Wherever thou roams, know that thou hast the love and devotion of Arthur!" In modern english with grammatical adjustments: "Wherever you roam, know that you have the love and devotion of Arthur!" In old english: "Wherever thee roam, know that thou hast the love and devotion of Arthur!" Explination: "Wherever SHE roams, the love and devotion of Arthur follow HER." Please note I don't claim to be an expert in grammar or old english, this is purely how I BELIVE it would be translated, so take it with a grain of salt. Hope this helps you out!

Thanks for all the info! This is very helpful! I will double check my grammar on those lines you mentioned.
I really just went with what sounded right in the moment and only looked things up when I wasn't entirely sure of how to phrase something, so I wouldn't be surprised if I got some things wrong.
There are a few instances where I used 'you' and 'your' instead of 'thou' and 'thy' intentionally. The rules surrounding when to use which in Old English are certainly not my expertise, so I just went with whatever sounded right in the moment. Arthur does sometimes use 'you' and 'your' in the original game, which was mainly what I was trying to recreate a sense of. If it doesn't sound right though, feel free to let me know.

It's always okay to just go with whatever you want. Good luck with your project! : ) Here's what I found on when to use "you" and "your" from a quick google search if you want them: "In Old English you was only a second person plural object pronoun. It wasn't used as a subject. As time went on, you was used interchangeably with ye for a second person plural pronoun." I don't think "your" was used in old english based on this: "Thyn (Old English), thyne (Middle English), and thine(current spelling) are all “your.”" Also, unrelated, but I found this from the "hello" wikipedia page and I thought it was interesting. "Bill Bryson asserts in his book Mother Tongue that "hello" comes from Old English hál béo þu ("Hale be thou", or "whole be thou", meaning a wish for good health; cf. "goodbye" which is a contraction of "God be with ye")."
Also, this might be helpful, but is long so you don't need to read it or anything. proofreadingpal.com/proofreading-pulse/writing-fiction/guide-to-olde-english%EF%BB%BF/

Got Arthur's Den working!
There's nothing in it yet, so that's next on the list.
The sword is modified from Moldric's little tool rack. I noticed it happened to have a sword on it (at least I think it's a sword, looked enough like a sword to make a sword out of it at least). And the shield was modified from the summer banner. It's a totally random design. It was surprisingly easy to make too. I managed to turn the sword into an item you can hang on your wall too, so that was fun. Who knows? Maybe I can modify some other objects for furniture or make my own from scratch.
I also tidied up some dialogue thanks to Void and Blue's suggestions. If you've got any more let me know!

Finally! Arthur now has a den! With this new version you’ll be able to place Arthur’s den, which is fully furnished. There are also some new unique dialogue options, new tasks, as well as their updated schedule! I found there to be quite a lack of Arthur-style furniture to populate their den with, so… I made them! Gothic style windows, furs, banners and more bedeck our gallant Knight’s home. I’m really quite pleased with how they turned out. Some are just reskins of current game assets, but there are a few I made pretty much from scratch.
But you might be wondering where you can get your paws on some medieval finery of your own… Look no further then Chaucer’s Chandlery! Your one-stop shop for all your Ren Faire knick-knacks! Run by a strange character called Chaucer, you’ll find them hawking a marvelous medley of medieval merchandise when a festival rolls around. With over 15 new items, all made by yours truly, including new lighting and rugs, you too can live like a king or queen! Just be sure to bring a lot of mews as Chaucer charges top-dollar for their wares, and will change out their inventory over the seasons. Chaucer is not a full character, it must be noted. They have limited dialouge, and portraits; you cannot add them to your colony, romance, or build a den for them. They also aren’t really befriendable, though I would like to change that in the future should inspiration strike. Honestly the fact that we can mod our own festivals does make me want to make an entire cat Ren Faire, but that’s a bit more then I can take on right now. Might be a cool group project for another day. There was a lot of trial and error just getting Chaucer’s shop up and running; it’s really what took me so long to get this finished. Be sure to let me know if you encounter any errors or have any critique or feedback. Chaucer’s Chandlery has a lot of different files, and while I did a fair amount of testing, inevitably there will likely be something I missed. Same goes for Arthur’s update as well. I really appreciate any feedback! Here are the downloads!
To install unzip the file into your mods folder located in %LOCALAPPDATA%/Cattails_Wildwood_Story/mods (if you don't have a mods folder there, create one - if you need more help check out the Wildwood CC Documentation Mod Examples)
This mod contains the Arthur npc folder, 1 buildings folder, 1 furniture folder, 1 mail folder, 1 map folder, and one tasks folder, plus 1 icon file, 9 portrait files, and English language files
*(Note that you’ll need Chaucer's Chandlery installed if you want Arthur’s den to display properly as that file contains all the furniture data. Be sure to replace your old copy of Arthur’s files with this new one.) This mod works with Alpha v0.97 This mod contains the Chaucer npc folder (containing the shop file), 1 festivals folder, 1 furniture folder (with 22 items and their sprites), 1 items folder (with 25 items and their sprites), 1 map folder, and 1 world_objects folder, plus 1 icon file, 2 portrait files, and English language files. This mod works with Alpha v0.97 Alternatively if you don’t want to have Chaucer in your game, you can download this file which contains Arthur’s updated file and the furniture for their den. The furniture’s availability is set to false, but you’re welcome to go in and switch them to true if you’d like to use any in game. This mod contains the Arthur npc folder, 1 buildings folder, 1 furniture folder (with 17 items and their sprites), 1 mail folder, 1 map folder, and one tasks folder, plus 1 icon file, 9 portrait files, and English language files This mod works with Alpha v0.97 As always you’re welcome to open the files and modify or build on things as you like. All I ask is that you don’t repost the mod or any of the art/dialogue without proper credit. Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

Thanks! Once I got into the groove of making the furniture it became pretty fun. I'm not sure the shop is as well coded as it could be, but as far as my testing went it functioned just fine, so I'm happy with it. I liked the idea of a special shop that popped up during special occasions.
