Between the sounds of the storm and the loud voices of the clan made a wall of noise that was impossible to ignore. Otterfur sighed before nodding his head he gave Ravenfang one last look. He owed him and Windclan a lot more Han he would ever care to admit. He turned to the cats slowly starting to migrate back out of the dens to get a better look at what was happening. Squaring up his shoulders the tom looked over his clanmates.
Walking forwards he held his tail up for silence. Once he got it he lashed his tail behind him. “For the sake of our clanmate I need silence. Get back into shelter please.” Otterfur yowled over the storm keeping his steady as he could manage. He couldn’t blame them for being curious about what was happening but, the needed to do this for Redsky’s sake.
The she-cat’s heart was still practically hammering against her rib cage as she tried to catch her breath. She blinked as Leafpaw come running over to her in front of the medicine cat den. Hazelrunner knew she was reading her own distress that was written all over her face. Hazlrunner opened her mouth to answer but, was cut short when she saw Shadowpaw came running over shortly after she did. Her eyes flickered between both cats before Tawnyface appeared as well.
She glanced at the Shadowclan she-cat before turning her attention back to the two younger cats. She pressed her ears against her head, hesitating before answering her on syllable question. “Redsky and Dogclaw.” Hazelrunner explained shifting as Rosethorn and Wildberry disappeared through the camp entrance as two blurs of fur running past in a quick blur. She moved to follow them before thinking better of it looking back at the cats gathered around her. “The battle is going well.” She added in a quieter tone it might have been drown out by the loud storm. She couldn’t be sure since the battle had still been happening when she was there but, she was trying to find something more to say.

Where were they? Redsky was in very bad condition and he didn’t know how long she could stay with them given how much blood she had lost. She needed something to improve her strength and she needed it fast.
Leafpaw’s blood ran cold as Hazelrunner mentioned the injured cats—first Dogcla, something difficult to imagine given how tough and hardy he always seemed to Leafpaw—then Redsky, the one cat that Leafpaw had outright promised would make it back alright. Her mind immediately began spinning with all of the different, terrible reactions that Applepaw might have to the news.
Now that she had essentially lied to him, a shadow had darkened her heart and her appearance, if the storming rain hadn’t already done that well enough.. She turned to the apprentice den, hoping he had stated away yet knowing it was too unlikely.
Once Hazelrunner stopped talking, he couldn’t help himself anymore as he pressed forward with a loud sigh of relief into her muzzle. “I’m glad you’re okay,” he murmured quietly, though he didn’t know if it had been lost to the rain.

Hazelrunner blinked a little as Shadowpaw moved to touch muzzle with her. His words were almost entirely lost to the wind. Sighing ever so softly to herself she was relieved to see him again. The she-cat was glad to see him put a little more at ease. “I promised I’d come back.” She mewed softly nudging his side briefly before looked towards Leafpaw and following her line of sight to the apprentice den. She flicked her ears back as she saw the young Riverclan cat already starting to make his way across the camp towards them. Her expression fell and her heart clenched a little in her chest.
Applepaw hadn’t seen Hazelrunner come into camp but, he sure noticed when Shadowpaw and Leafpaw left the den. Perking his ears up he went to the entrance of the den to peer out to see where they’d gone. They were all standing around the medicine cat den. There was a frantic dash out of the den by the two medicine cats. He swallowed thickly, his first thought being that cats were dying or badly hurt. Dread flood over him thinking that his mom could be one of them. He slowly slunk his way across the camp. He didn’t want to know but, he couldn’t bare to stay in the dark if it was her.
As he made his way over Applepaw nervously looked between the cats gathered outside the medicine cat den. Before he got out his question his eyes the answer was written all over their faces. “I-It’s her isn’t it?” Applepaw squeaked anxiously looking between all the cats. His eyes lingered on Leafpaw as he slowly let himself slump into the mud.
Wildberry was a Windclan cat and was able to cover more ground than Rosethorn could in a stride. Still, she hadn’t ever been considered fast in her life. Now, though she was running faster than she’d ever run before. She had lost sight of Rosethorn when they crossed into Riverclan territory. She could still hear the occasional patter of paws behind her that told her he was still behind her. She didn’t even slowly down a little when she got to the churning water surrounding the Riverclan camp. She jumped right in, almost going into shock as her whole body crashed into the cold water. Coming up for air she breathed heavily through her nose keeping an iron grip on the herbs in her jaws. She awkwardly paddled along making it to the shore in one piece. Shaking what water she could off her pelt she trudged into the camp looking around wildly. Otterfur spotted her and directed her over to Ravenfang and Redsky. The herbs and soaked cobwebs she had brought with her dropped right out of her mouth.
“Dear Starclan.” She muttered as she crouched down to get a better look at the large wound. She looked to the herbs she brought with her. Without wasting a second she untied the leaves holding the bundle together. “Keep the pressure on her neck. Don’t move it until the moment I tell you to.” Wildberry warned the deputy. She waved her tail in front of Redsky’s eyes to see her response to it. Her eyes sluggishly followed the soggy wet tall waved about in her face.

Shadowpaw wasn’t necessarily relieved about the situation as he felt the air about the camp, but Hazelrunner was here and that was something very good that he could hold onto amidst whatever darkness was sure to come and discourage the clan. He stayed close to her, perhaps something strange to the cats around him though he did not seem to be aware of this.
Leafpaw gulped as Applepaw asked what had happened, trying to figure out what she could say in response; she wanted to find some way, quickly, to comfort him, yet before she could even think of anything, he had come to the (unfortunately correct) conclusion that his mother was one of the ones to be injured. She couldn’t understand how, out of all cats to be injured, it had to be Redsky. Applepaw gravely needed a boost to himself at this point, and a situation like this was going to do the exact opposite.
Ravenclaw didn’t move, speak, or make a sound as he heard the order from Wildberry from behind him. Keep the pressure. Wait for the word. He was certain the idea was to hold it until the moment Wildberry would apply something more effective and durable to keep the wound sealed better. He was stiff and ready for the word from the medicine cat.

Hazelrunner certainly didn’t mind having Shadowpaw next to her. It gave her a small feeling of comfort. Especially when she, like Leafpaw, was trying to find the magic words to say to Applepaw to give him some comfort. There was nothing she could think to say that would help him. Redsky was still alive but, she’d seen the wound and all the blood. Giving him false hope now would only make things worse if she didn’t make it. Still, she felt like she had to at least say something. “She fought really bravely Applepaw.” She mewed stopping short of implying that it meant she’d be able to pull through.
Applepaw didn’t even bother to listen to what Hazelrunner had to say. He didn’t want to hear any of that. He’d believed Leafpaw and she’d been wrong. Of course he didn’t personally blame her for what happened but, he was angry at himself for believing her over his own gut feeling. He stayed shrunken down in the mud for several moments. He hated the fact that he’d let her go. Riverclan wasn’t worth losing her too. “I want to go see her.” He mewed softly quickly stumbling to his paws. He started to make his way towards the entrance in a daze. All he knew was that he wanted to be with her right now.
Wildberry went right to work sorting out what she would need. They needed to seal up the wound so they could move her out of this storm. That was the first step. The entire time the Windclan cat was quietly praying to Starclan to let Redsky survive. She still had cats that needed her. She sighed to herself as she took to quickly chewing to make a goose grass and oak leaf paste to put over the wound. It should have the added effect of preventing infection to the wound. She held the paste in one of her paws. Turning to face the deputy she nodded her head. “Okay.” She mewed hoping that he could hear her. As soon as the cobwebs were moved aside she coated the wound. While she was doing this Redsky started to try to squirm away from her. “Keep her still.” She hissed to the deputy trying to finish this as quickly as possible.

Leafpaw’s ears flattened back and her hackles raised as the apprentice decided to set himself out to see his mother. It was a bad idea—the battle could still be going on and he could be harmed. And if not, it was likely that he would panic and get in the way of the cats trying to help once he saw his mother. She prepared to intercept him before he could get too far.
Despite her intention, she felt harsh guilt weighing down on her heart, and when she tried to move, she found that her legs were paralyzed. Though she knew it was a bad idea, she couldn’t bring herself to stop the kitten from trying to find his mother herself.
Instead, it was Tawnyface who made her way in front of the etrance to stop the apprentice. Her gaze held a taste of her usual hardness, but a cat who knew her might know it held just a touch of understanding. She was standing tall and blocking up the space in front of the den. “Its a battlefield over there, and you’re going to get hurt. Sit down, let the medicine cats do what they do best. You’ll see her soon.” She boldly took the lead on the claim that Applepaw would see Redsky again.
Tawnyface knew that Shadowclan were the villains of this part of the clans’ history. If she had to take the role of the villain in this situation to keep the apprentice safe, it wouldn’t be much different from what she had been before. Not that her evil actions had been more than loyalty, but...she felt no aversion to being called or thought of as a villain.
Ravenfang was ready as soon as she spoke, a bit of blood getting through for just a slight moment in between the switch; and Ravenfang was pressing on to hold Redsky still before Wildberry could order it, though it was hard to hold the large and strong she-cat on his own. Still, he put his greatest effort into it, knowing every mistake could be grave in this situation. “As carefully as you can...” he quietly murmured to Wildberry, though he was sure it was drowned out in the storm.

Applepaw marched towards the entrance. He determined to make it his mom. He had to she needed him, he needed her. The tiny apprentice wasn’t putting any thought into the reasons he shouldn’t go. Applepaw had no idea if the battle was still raging but, he needed to go. Maybe he was being selfish in a way but, he couldn’t bare the thought that he might lose her without seeing her himself. He stopped and frowned when the big (to him at least) Shadowclan she-cat came to stand in between him and the entrance. Staring up at the she-cat he was practically shaking like a leaf at this point. Between the storm and his own worrying he was probably going to make himself sick at this rate.
Her words didn’t really seem to get through to him. “You don’t know that!” He mewed pitifully trying to edge around her to get through the entrance although it wouldn’t take much to hold him back. “I don’t care if I get hurt. I don’t want her to leave too.” He yowled his fur bristling in frustration. Of all cats trying to tell him everything was going to be okay he didn’t want to hear it from a Shadowclan cat. “I have to go! Please just let me go.” He mewed desperately his shoulders falling a little as he pleaded with the larger cat.
Hazelrunner had braced herself to have to go after the apprentice if no one else did. She breathed a sigh of relief when Tawnyface stepped up to block the path. Her heart wrenched watching him pleading and begging for her to let him through. It was something she didn’t think she could bring herself to do. She took a step towards him. He needed to get inside before he got sick himself. She stepped closer only to have Applepaw flinch away from both of them.
Wildberry huffed in frustration as the she-cat continued to try pull away from Wildberry even with Ravenfang trying to keep her still. She was focusing more on covering the wound as quickly as possible and wasn’t putting much thought into being gentle like she normally would. Redsky gasped a little as she continued to be rather rushed. Wildberry stopped to take a deep breath. Now even she could see it without being able to hear what the deputy was saying. “Okay...” She mewed softly to herself as she tried to be more gentle as she put the last of the coating on the wound. The blood had stopped now finally. At least they had stopped the bleeding. “We need to move her if we can.” Wildberry sighed loudly doubting the she-cat would make it much easier for them to move her now.

Tawnyface grimaced as the apprentince continued trying to make his way out of the camp, not because it took any real effort to keep him back, but because of the desperate demeanor of the tiny apprentice, disregarding in total his wellbeing as he set himself to reach his mother. She wasn’t used to kits, let alone apprentices expressing their emotions this rawly and strongly, being that the apprentices she knew were early silent and scared (Shadowpaw) or aggressive and always scrabbling to seem menacing (all the other ones). “You’re soaking wet. You’re going to freeze to death, and your mom would have my neck if Inlet you do that.” She was hardening herself to push him back more when, to her relief, Hazelrunner approached and seemed ready to intervene. The Windclan warrior was so much more prepared for this sort of thing than Tawnyface.
Shadowpaw watched with disbelief as Tawnyface intervened in between Applepaw and the exit to the outside. It seemed strangely unlike the warrior to Shadowpaw, and he seemed to barely notice as Hazelrunner moved away from him and towards Applepaw, biting his lip as she did so. He hoped that Applepaw didn’t start reacting even worse.
“Lavenderfur! Otterfur! Anyone, we need to move Redsky carefully out of the den!” It was a loud yowling call to any cat from the three gathered clans. They could only move her very gently and cautiously to keep from reopening the wound, yet they needed to get her out of the storm or she wouldnfreeze to death. Those two things were hard to take care of together, and he tried figuring out how they could possibly get this done.

Applepaw let out a truly pitiful whine as he looked between the two older cats. He didn’t see their actions as helpful, they were just standing in the way of him being able to get back to his mother. Couldn’t they see how badly he needed to see her? “I-I’m fine. I’m tougher than that.” Applepaw squeaked through chattering teeth, trying to sound as convincing as he could. He was a Riverclan cat, a little water shouldn’t stop him. He was quite cold though but, his drive to see Redsky was overruling that fact.
Hazelrunner watched the younger cat her eyes softened a little listening to his desperate reassurance to get Tawnyface to let him go. She glanced sideways at the Shadowclan she-cat. She didn’t blame her for being out of her depth here and she’d been the first one willing to try to make Applepaw see reason. The young warrior crouched lower to be eye to eye with Applepaw. “Applepaw, please. I can see how badly you want to go to her but, if you get hurt or sick while you’re trying to get to her imagine how that would make her feel. She might think she’s responsible for you getting hurt. I promise you will get to see her.” Hazelrunner tried to through to him.
Applepaw swallowed thickly stepping away from Hazelrunner as she crouched down to him. Tensing up he seemed closed off to hearing what she might have to say. He wasn’t able to look her eye as she continued to try to get through to him. The tension left his body as he seemed to suddenly just deflate on the spot. “I-I..” He stammered quietly to himself flattening his ears against his head seeming to rethink what he was doing at least. He was a shivering ball of wet matted fur. “I’ll wait.” He mewed softly doubting anyone really heard his concession.
Otterfur heard the loud call for him and other cats to come help move Redsky. He didn’t hesitate to make his way over. Besides the obvious loyalty he felt to Redsky he also thought he should be one of those helping since a lot of the Riverclan cats were in no shape to be doing anything besides resting. While this battle had been a success with few casualties from the united clans, it had still taken a high toll on the camp and the cats in it.
Sprucestar was strutting around the camp gathering up his warriors. His grey coat was covered in blood although he didn’t have but, a handful of scratches. Their work here was mostly wrapping up. He had been hoping to deal a larger blow to Shadowclan’s numbers but, it was still a victory all the same. No doubt Nightstar would learn about this from any Shadowclan cats that had managed to slip away. The massive tom wanted to deliver the news to him personally just to see how he would react to losing the only other clan he had managed to hold on to. Now, they had to start the much harder task of helping Riverclan recover after all of this. He lumbered his way over to Ravenfang after hearing his loud call. The huge tom made his way over nodding his head that he would help with this.

Shadowpaw could not hear what was said by Applepaw once Hazelrunner finished speaking, but he had barely picked up what his friend had said and when Applepaw didn't keep pushing forward, he hoped the apprentice was thinking the bad idea through and reconsidering.
He noticed how distraught Leafpaw appeared to him amidst their cluster of cats, and as she sat trapped in her thoughts, he couldn't stand there doing nothing, when he could see how she appeared. Walking only a couple steps to reach her, he gently tapped her shoulder with his nose. He felt a spark of worry push its way into his heart as she didn't seem to indicate any notice of him.
Ravenfang waited until they had several strong cats appearing near them to help with lifting Redsky, and he did his best to get his shoulder under the warrior so he could contribute with as much force as possible; of course he had taken a side that demanded his unre-opened shoulder, trying to avoid giving it more pain in its already hurting state.

Hazelrunner didn’t notice Leafpaw’s darkened mood too, focused on Applepaw. The Riverclan apprentice finally let her approach him. She made her way over to the smaller cat trying to comfort him as much as she could. She ushered him away from the entrance of the camp. He was looking down at his paws the entire time. Sighing softly to herself she had the tom lay down in a nest.
“Do you want me to stay with you?” She asked softly only, to get silence in response. She slowly stepped out of the den to make her way back to Shadowpaw and Leafpaw. Frowning the young warrior went to sit herself down beside her friends. She stared down at the apprentice not knowing what was wrong exactly.
The she-cat’s body was not exactly easy to move as she thrashed as her body was moved a little. Wildberry was trying to direct the cats what to do and warning them to try not to jostle her too much in fear of opening the wound again. It was slow process getting her safely into the den. Redsky only really registered the fact that the rain had stopped pounding down on her. They laid her down in a moss nest. Wildberry shooed out the other cats from the den to continue trying to clean her wound up now.

Ravenfang felt the weight of the warrior quickly dispersing between the various cats lifting her, yet it was still a significant effort that he had to put in in order to get her onto a moveable level. When they finally got her into the den, setting her down was another challenge in and of itself; he told all of the cats, at the count of three to begin bending their legs slowly so they could set her on the floor of the den slowly and gently.
Afterwards, he was quick to be shooed out, knowing he was no exception to the rule in this case. Before he exited though, he turned back to look at Wildberry, already busy with treating the warrior. “Is Lilyheart coming? I don’t know how many more cats are hurt.”

The medicine cat buzzed around the fallen warrior only pausing as she looked up at the deputy quickly shaking her head. “Rosethorn should be washing up on shore any moment now.” Wildberry joked rather morbidly, well at least one could only hope she was joking. “I had Lilyheart stay at camp.” The Windclan she-cat explained briefly before flicking her tail to shoo him out as well. Maybe she was trying rather hard to keep Lilyheart from harm, even if the medicine cat knew that she was tougher than she looked and they needed all the help they could get. Wildberry frowned and turned her attention towards the she-cat in front of her. Redsky wasn’t out of danger quite yet. The medicine cat quickly got back to work.

(Sounds good) It was a long night for all of them. Ravenfang didn't pull his clan out of the camp immediately, and he didn't plan to unless Otterfur shooed them out. He felt they could be used to care for the injured and he certainly didn't think, after viewing the horrible condition of Dogclaw, that the warrior was in any position to be moved all the way back to Windclan. So, he kept himself and Wildberry there. He didn't force his clanmates to stay, expressly mentioning to Lavenderfur that he was free to go. To his puzzlement, the warrior mentioned something about helping out here--despite the family awaiting him back at camp.
He placed it in the back of his mind to approach later, as in this moment, he needed to focus on being ready for if Wildberry yowled his name for some task or herb in the territory surrounding. He wished he had a moment to stop and check in with Wrenflight during this moment, but he was constantly pacing around the camp, checking on wounded cats, especially Dogclaw and Redsky (when Wildberry didn't notice him immediately), so that he didn't have the time for a word with her.Lavenderfur found himself lost as he awaited more news about Redsky's condition through the night. He wasn't getting a wink of rest as he thought about the kittens and mate awaiting him in the Windclan camp; how was he going to return and tell them that he was responsible for the danger, the jeaporady that Redsky now lie in? He made a bad choice. Certainly Hazelrunner could of handled the warrior? He had been too busy selfishly thinking about his own clanmate. He must have let clan loyalties blind him. Ravenfang should scold him for that. His parents would of scolded him for that. He had shown very poor character.
Ebonykit was terrified by the news that came at Hazelrunner's arrival, and it left him an absolute mess as he awaited the arrival of his father. There was a short duration in between every time he would ask how much longer, and with the quantity of times he had asked it his mother, probably just as worried, must have been sick of hearing it. Nothing seemed capable of comforting him right now.
Shadowpaw seemed to be in a visibly better condition now that Hazelrunner had safely returned. His mind still worried for the other cats fighting this battle, especially now that Hazelrunner had reported to them what had happened. Yet, here he was cuddled close to the warrior as he seemed practically stuck to her side, and she was nearly unharmed from the battle.
In the middle of his swirling thoughts was his very short conversation with Leafpaw, which held very little content and Leafpaw leaving for the apprentice's den without answering whether she was okay or not. He took it as a sign that she did not want to talk, and he let her be to her thoughts, with the idea that, perhaps, he should check with her tomorrow, or better yet, tell someone who was actually good at checking with other cats. Point being, he was concerned.

The night had hadn’t gotten any easier once the storm had gone away, in fact for Wildberry it had only gotten worse. Her treating Redsky and Rosethorn looking after Dogclaw practically at through all the herbs that they had brought with them. Even still it was too early to say much on the Riverclan she-cat’s condition. She had been slipping in and out of consciousness the whole night. There had been a time or two when she had to try to resuscitate her after the she-cat had managed to give her a scare. It was only by the grace of Starclan that Redsky had made it through the night. It seemed she’d managed to weather the worst of it. By the next morning Wildberry was now actually starting to think that she would pull through all of this.
Stepping away from the she-cat’s side she took in a loud tired breath. Now that it seemed she was going to pull through the medicine cat finally felt brave enough to go outside the den so many cats were crowded just outside of. Ravenfang and Otterfur especially, she knew that Ravenfang had been sticking his nose in here whenever she turned her back. The other cat who was sulking around seemingly waiting for news was Lavenderfur surprisingly. She couldn’t fathom why he hadn’t gone home, he couldn’t seem bare being away from them for very long but, that wasn’t her concern right now. She appeared in the entrance of the den, stepping past a now awake Dogclaw. All of those wounds on his pelt left him laying in the nest grumbling endlessly about the pain he was in. She preferred him when he was passed out honestly. “Ravenfang, I need water and can you look again for some poppy seeds.” She had looked in the empty medicine cat den more than once already, Shadowclan had cleaned out all of the poppy seeds that the Riverclan cats had. Lashing her tail in frustration she walked out of the den, needing to step away for a moment.
Speckleflower had her heart in her throat after Hazelrunner come rushing back into camp. She had been anxiously watching the entrance expecting her mate to walk through at any moment. All the while she’d been trying vainly to reassure Ebonykit and his endless questioning. By the next morning quite a few of the other warriors had returned but, not Lavenderfur. Sighing softly she looked down to her kits licking the tops of their heads before rising up separating herself from her kits. “I’m going to go ask around to see where he is.” She mewed softly, wanting to know just as much as they did. What if something had actually happened to him? She could hardly stomach the idea.
Wrenflight had been doing what she could to help, it wasn’t easy to do. It was hard to help clean up the aftermath of the second bloody battle that had been here. She was clearly uncomfortable being here and was equally anxious after what had happened to Redsky. She stayed away from the den Redsky was in. She couldn’t see her without thinking about Shadestar and Coralpelt. It was hard to stay positive and think she would pull through all of this. She had contemplated going to talk to Applepaw but, she talked herself out of it every time. So, she kept her head down and stay busy as she could.
Otterfur was more than happy to have the Windclan and Thunderclan cats that decided to stick around. While he still had an image of his mind of Riverclan becoming a strong clan that could stand on their own again, they needed help to be able to get to that point. He still planned to fulfill his promise to his clan to travel to the Moonpool to give them a proper leader again. Still, he couldn’t leave until he knew how Redsky was. He was already struggling to reassure the Riverclan cats that it was truly over. The clan couldn’t do this without her. He stood in the entrance of the leader’s den staring inside quietly. He quickly shook his head turning back to go see if there was any news of how Redsky was.
The young warrior was curled up with Shadowpaw. At least Shadowpaw was in a better way this morning. It helped her feel a little better. Still, Applepaw and Leafpaw clearly weren’t doing as well. She expected Applepaw to be that way. The tiny cat had squeezed himself between a den and the barrier to take shelter. She could see his head peaking out now still clearly wanting to go to his mother. Leafpaw was another story all together. She had left to the apprentice den after talking with Shadowpaw. Yawning and stretching out her legs she shifted deciding to go and talk to her personally.
