Saw the Personality Challenge for Cattails (2017) and loved the concept, but I noticed that it needed a bit of adjustment if I wanted to use it in Wildwood Story! I love doing challenges to get me to shake up how I usually do things, and I've been playing a lot of Wildwood Story lately so I hope these modifications can add some fun for others too! The OP of that thread seems to not have been active in a while so I didn't get to consult her on this (I will gladly edit or delete/lock this thread if she asks).
I'd also love suggestions to expand on this! New traits, ambitions, rules, etc!
Without further ado:
The Rules
- Assign at least 3 traits to your cat (whether you choose or randomize is up to you). Each trait's description includes a rule/goal/guideline you should keep in mind for this save file.
- Choose/randomize an ambition for your cat. This is a bigger goal to work towards in this save file - once it's complete, feel free to pick up a new one! I'd recommend making your cat's ambition the key part of their decision making. For example, Jag wants you to go on daily battles but your ambition is about the mines? Mines take priority.
- OPTIONAL for the points lovers out there: +1 Point for every day where you adhere to your traits, and for every day where you make progress towards your ambition. -1 Point for every day where you contradict your trait, and for every day where your ambition goes ignored. +3 Points if you finish your ambition in the first year, +2 for the second year, +1 for the third year. -1 Point for every year after that.
Might be worth comparing points among save files, or to set a number to try to beat (ie. don't get below 0 or try to get to 100. I have not play tested this, and I've rarely made challenges before) - OPTIONAL if your traits/ambition(s) aren't having you actively collect territory, never use lavender or squads to claim new territory. Hunting/foraging/fighting only.
The Traits
- Gentle - Avoid combat where possible, and spare any enemies that haven't taken notice of you.
- Outgoing - Visit 5+ cats each day, and max your friendship with 5+ cats.
- Rude - Ignore the other cats in the colony, except to make 5+ enemies (lose all friendship stars).
- Greedy - Hoard anything with a rarity of rare or legendary. It all goes into storage!
- Feisty - Partake in both daily battles, instigate fights with hostiles - banish all your enemies for existing! Prioritize squads being sent to claim new territory when possible!
- Cautious - Always have to be prepared! Always try to stay above half hunger, avoid combat, and don't swim without thistle if you can help it!
- Fish-cat - Water, water, water! Fish often, keep plenty of thistle on you, and visit the beach frequently.
- Hunter - Have nothing to do? Hunt! Keep plenty of peppermint on you, hunt often, and never bother with eating forageables to satiate your hunger.
- Warrior - Defend the Wildwood! Participate in daily battles, keep plenty of foxglove and/or snake lily on you, and devote most (if not all) of your skills to combat.
- Forager - When in doubt? Plants. Fully upgrade the garden, learn all the seed recipes, forage often, and maintain a full garden. (The botanist skill is suggested)
- Mole - Free time is mine time! Mine often, prep for mining expeditions, and make sure to upgrade those pockets!
- Parental - Spend a lot of time with your kittens (once you have them), get them all to maximum friendship and level 10! Befriend rival kittens, too!
- Vegetarian - Never eat prey, only forageables! Roots, berries, and mushrooms are your entire diet. (Feel the need to mention: this only works in fiction)
- Pescatarian - Fish are the only prey you can eat, otherwise only forageables!
- Picky - Select a few food items to be your cat's favorite - these are the only ones you'll be able to eat, unless things are dire. This can be as broad as all fish, or as specific as raspberries, squirrels, and rabbits.
- Lovelorn - Have at least 2 romantic relationships start and end before settling down with a spouse.
- Shy - Keep to yourself, save for 2 or 3 cats with max friendship (including a romantic partner, if you choose to have one).
- Generous - Gift npcs often! Found something they like or love? Give it to them! You only get to keep things if you can't give it away, basically.
- Fashionable - Prioritize buying accessories! If you've got the money for them, buy them! Also, change up your look every 5ish days, whether that's pelt or accessories.
- Competitive - Compete in all the festival games, try to win! Compete against your buddy - if they collect more herbs/catch more prey/beat more enemies, they get a prize before you dismiss them.
- Resourceful - Donate to the colony stockpile often, and prioritize sending your squads to territory you already own.
- Helpful - Always pick up the daily task and try to get it done as soon as possible. (I'd also suggest trying to resolve NPC "wants", ie. Krampy's hungry? Give them something to eat!)
The Ambitions
- Parenthood - Get married and have kittens as soon as possible - assuming you've recruited at least four other cats first! You have to make sure you're picking the perfect co-parent, right?
- Hero - Recover the Wildwood as quickly as possible! If you're feeling merciful, you may also want to max your friendship with a special post-game someone.
- Community - Recruit all the cats as quickly as possible, and get all the community upgrades! This is supposed to be the perfect new home, right?
- Dominator - Claim all territory as quickly as possible! Get 100% reputation across the board, and maintain it every day for a year. As long as everything is 100% before midnight hits, that’s another day in your streak! Passed out before you could regain control? Restart the count! (For anyone partaking in points, your year of completion points come from what year you first got the 100% across the board, assuming you maintained it for the full year afterwards)
- Socialite - Befriend all cats as quickly as possible - all of them.
- Heartbreaker - Marry and divorce every cat as quickly as you can. Once again, every cat.
- Antagonist - Be hated by every cat, without the use of a black rose (unless you got this ambition after already being in a relationship).
- Luxurious - Make your den a mansion! Max out the size, buy all the decor, and make it well furnished!
- Wealthy - Make and maintain 3k Mews for a year! Lost your stuff and dipped back down to 2999? The year restarts! (For anyone partaking in points, your year of completion points come from what year you first made the 3k Mews, assuming you maintained them for the full year afterwards)
- Renaissance - Work on two or more ambitions at once!
- Coach - Get every buddy-able cat to level 10! This does include rival kittens.
- Curator - Donate all the curios!
- Options - Max all skills.
- Collector - Choose 2-3 collections to max out (can stack for the purpose of the Renaissance ambition).
The Scraps
AKA, 2017 traits/ambitions that I couldn't figure out how to repurpose. They get stashed here in case I or someone else has an idea on how to re-implement them!
- Goody Two Shoes - Stay on your own or unclaimed territory (REASON: no other colonies to worry about; sort of repurposed to Resourceful)
- Bad Blood - Ignore boundaries and hunt wherever you please. (REASON: no other colonies to worry about; sort of an addition to Feisty...?)
Like I mentioned earlier, I'm not very versed in making (or modifying) challenges, so suggestions are much appreciated! I hope you have fun if you decide to take these rules into account!
