What do you think about the story of the game?

So, when I first played through, I expected Coco to turn out to be the guardian, since they have the ability to teleport. What do you guys think? Has Coco picked up these powers by living in the sacred temple so long? The guardian themselves- why do you think the forest was unbalanced? Was it because of the Colonies fighting? I don't think that's it, since the player can take over the entire forest and still restore the balance. I wonder if the guardian instead staged this as a test. They foresaw the player's coming, and wanted to ensure they were ready before giving them the power and responsibility over a full clan. Maybe the true imbalance was in the number of colonies? If there used to be four and the fourth was driven out, maybe that would make sense as to why the guardian wishes to create a fourth clan. Why do you all think that the humans left? Since several characters mention the humans, they must not have left the area too long before the player arrives. Is that tied into the balance as well? Perhaps the humans were scared away by the guardian's magic, believing it to be paranormal influence. Actually, what is the guardian? A land spirit? If so, that would make sense that they would like to scare away the humans, which alter the landscape and destroy the environment. Maybe that's why the land spirit wants another clan. The more cats in one  area, the better that they will be able to care for the environment, without destroying it. Maybe Coco was originally who the guardian intended for the leadership, but instead gave the position to the player, when they were the one to do it. It would make sense why the guardian left before the player ever arrived. Perhaps the guardian gave Coco their powers to help aid them in becoming a leader? Speaking of which, do the other colonies know of the guardian? Coco is placed as the one to officiate the seasonal games, positioning them as a 3rd party leader, perhaps even a leader over all the clans. Why is this? Is it because the other colonies assume them to be holy because of their magical affiliation? I'm intrigued.

That's actually really interesting.  I always assumed that Coco just helped make the Colonies under the Guardian's very close supervision.

I also always assumed that she was given powers by the Guardian so she could better take care of the colonies.

But really, this has sparked some more of my interested - what does the Guardian actually do?
She controls who rules there? I think Coco does more work than the Guardian, honestly. Even if it is just taking care of lost kittens/pets, or the festival games.

But also, you say that you believe the guardian "left before the player arrived".
Just the way you phrased it makes me believe that you meant that she intentionally left. But since you had to shower her with gifts to get her to come back, I'm pretty sure she left on purpose -again, though, just the way you phrased it makes you seem like you mean she intentionally left-

And also, WHY DIDN'T COCO JUST GIVE THE GUARDIAN SOME DING DONG GIFTS?!

So her staging this as a test would make some sense, but then there's the problem...
Why leave?
If she has to protect the forest, why doesn't she stay?
This seems like a lot of trouble to go through, just to make sure there's a good leader.

I also doubt the colonies know of the guardian, as they say nothing about it or anything. They don't seem to notice when she's gone, either.
Plus, they shut the hatch anytime there's a cat other than Elli, yourself or Coco [or the Guardian].

Really, though, I have no idea what to say about most of these questions.
I, myself, don't think about these things very often.

I think, the guardian was bot really away.
I think, ehe just acthd like that to make the trial for the player feel more serious and watched over the whoole territory as an invisible presence.
After the player solved the whoole temple trial, the guardian pulled her presence back together and formed that blue lioness body to talk to the cats.
