In the game's intro, players see the cat paying with the little human girl, than the girl's mother is mad/angry for some reason. I don't know what the girl, or the cat has done wrong for the cat to be dumped out in the wilderness. I didn't see anything getting broken in the playroom, were they just making too much noise?

There's not really an official answer, I don't think. Maybe the mother just decided that she didn't want a cat anymore, or maybe they were suddenly allergic to it. That part of the story is really for you as the player to interpret.
