Hi! Does anyone know what game engine was used to make Cattails? I'd love to make my own 2D Pixel-art game but I'm not sure what program I should use (any suggestions are welcome!)
Also is the game engine ok for beginners? if not does anyone know a good one I can use instead?
Thx for all the help!

Cattails was made using a program called GameMaker Studio (I can't remember the version, but I don't think it matters much). They have a 1-month free trial you can get to try it out and see if it's simple enough for you. They also have a good amount of tutorials that can teach you the basics. However, once your trial is up, you're going to have to buy it if you want to continue using it, and it's not exactly cheap ($40-$200, depending on which version you get).
If you find it's too difficult for you to use (or finish the trial and can't afford it), while I don't know of many other programs, I'd suggest looking into learning a coding language if you don't know one already. Even just learning one language can help you understand how others may work (although, that's not always the case).
I hope this helps you, and good luck making a game of your own!
