Hi, I've finished the Forest Guardian's quest and I've created my own colony. I've been given the option to join the Forest Colony despite being the leader of my own. Does anybody know what would happen if I was a leader of a custom and joined a new colony?

Yes. Your colony will simply run as normal without you, functioning as a standard colony, except you lose control over them. You can of course rejoin them later, if you wish. I like to headcanon that Coco takes the role of leader when you leave, but I don't think it's canon.
