He quietly sighed, the slightest relief in the sound as she told him she was going to be there. That meant something. Still, it was unclear whether she was going to stay in Windclan forever. Was there a future where she returned to a better Shadowclan? Would he go with her? He figured he wouldn't be welcomed in Windclan once his clan had become better.
He looked up at her with curiosity as she said that this had been better for him in more than just aspects of training. Trying to parse out what she meant, he wondered if she was speaking about meeting Hazelrunner, or specifically getting away from his father, or what else. He figured his training was all that he had honestly missed in regards to his childhood.
Well, that wasn't true...The Warrior Code, which he had been clearly taught very wrongly. Perhaps starting to learn what the Code really was was a way of teaching him about being a better cat. perhaps there were other things he wasn't thinking about.
He nodded slightly in acknowledgement of what she had said. "I...I think I see what you mean..." He shakily agreed. There was slight doubt, but he was at least thinking about it.
Hawktail followed along with Dogclaw, preparing himself for the approaching danger. As the two of them neared it together, he steeled himself and pushed back his doubts about Whispersong's state. She had to be in Riverclan. She had to be.
Crossing over the closest and largest stones, he landed on the other side and awaited Dogclaw to begin crossing the river.
"Six?" There was disbelief in his voice. "No, it could not have been that long. Seriously? How...no, I couldn't have been that daft." Six whole moons? He couldn't have been ignorant for the whole end of his apprenticeship and several moons longer!
"Well, you know, if...um, if you run this fast into, you know, a rock or tree log, well, it could really hurt you. That's why we can do this confidently in Windclan territory, but not in...you know, Thunderclan territory."
He listened as she complained lightly about their difficulty, and he chuckled lightly. "Well, the rabbits are good at hiding. You really only have a chance if you get them out in the open."

Lilyheart waasn’t entirely sure what would happen after all of this. She migh choose to go back. Or if it was too much for her Wildberry had offered to let her stay in Windclan, although she didn’t know if that was her place either. For now though she would stay here and ty to help Shadowpaw and other cats as much as Starclan gave her stretngh to. She seemed to brighten when he seemed to be able to see the change for himself.
She sat in silence for a moment as she sighed softly to hereslf. She wished she could have offered a little bit more comfort to Shadowpaw after everything he’d been through. “I think it’s better for Tawnyface too. I think it’s better for all of us really.” She mewed very softly shuffling her paws under her.
Dogclaw carefully trotted across the moor scanning the shore as they got closer to the river. With a loud sigh he stoo don the shore for a moment bunching up his muscles. Leaping carefully from one rock to another, have to scramble to keep his balance on the wet slippery rocks. He sighed briefly to himself when he finally made to dry land again. He slowly nodded to Hawktail to show he was ready to keep going on.
The queen giggled to herself. “I’m sorry to break it to you honey, but yes you were.” Speckleflower pulled away from her mate standing up. Clearing her throat a little she batted her eyes at him “Lavenderpaw you are so talented.” She mimicked her younger self. “We should go hunting together sometime.” The queen purred drawing closer to the tom. “You never picked up on any of that.” Sighing softly she settled down beside him again with a light smile.
Wrenflight smiled softly to herself as he stumbled over his words and explaining the rather obvious fact that running into a tree would hurt. She trotted after him gazing this way and that over the almost entirely empty moor. “There’s no danger of running into anything around here.” She sighed as she tried again to scent much of anything. Still nothing.
Inclining her head to the side she looked this way and that like she was expecting a rabbit to pop out of thin air. “Aren’t most of the rabbits hiding in their holes this time of year?” She mewed with a slight bit of confusion on how they’d be able to hunt any rabbits at all.

He quietly wondered whether Lilyheart was right about the third Shadowclan cat camped with them. He didn't have any positive memories of Tawnyface, but he had seen her hanging around Longshadow rather frequently and she seemed far more quiet and unconfrontational than she had been from her time in Shadowclan. Perhaps the clan was doing something okay for her. "I, umm...I'm sorry for pulling you away." He cleared his throat. "thanks for um...for talking with me..."
The warrior nodded back as he safely made it over, turning back and beginning to prowl into Riverclan territory. As they grew closer he continously kept sweeping the horizon on either side of them, wary of warriors from either Shadowclan or the indentured Riverclan.
Lavenderfur's eyes went wide as he listened closely to her imitation of herself as an apprentice. He remembered her saying that! It was like...at the end of his apprenticeship. His mouth hung open as she smacked him with the fact that he had been far more clueless than even he had thought. It had clearly stunned him.
Ravenfang nodded. "Yes, that's true. A lot of them hide but, some of them get brave and go for food. We catch those ones when we can. Really, there isnt too much else that we hunt. The occassional squirrel or mouse, of course. I...I miss vole...vole is really good, but we never get it..." He went off on a tangent without thinking about their task, for a moment.

The Shadowclan she-cat pivoted her eats as Shadowpaw apologized for dragging her out of camp. She smiled and very lightly shrugged her shoulders showing she didn’t really mind coming out of camp with him. “I didn’t mind getting out of camp every once and a while.” Lilyheart assured him as she slowly stretched her legs out in front of herself. “Of course.” She mewed with a slight nod of her head. Slowly standing up she Looked back towards camp. “I hope it was a little helpful.”
Dogclaw crouched down a little. Scanning the horizon he kept an eye out for any signs for enemy warriors. Dogclaw had to step rather lightly not to be bogged down in the mud by the shore. He felt completely unprepared for the trek into Riverclan territory. Still, they ddin’t have much of a better option. Starclan did seem to smile on them. They were downwind and as Dogclaw tasted the air he perked up. “I think I caught her scent.” He mewed quietly as he crouched down a little bit trying to carefully follow the scent.
The she-cat sighed as Lavenderfur only now connected the pieces together. Six moons she’d tried to get that thick headed tom to finally realize she liked him. She waved her tail in front of his face after he sat there looking completely awestruck for a few seconds. “That was about the same look as when I finally told you I liked you.” Speckleflower sighed again shaking her head. Somethings would never change.
Wrenflight was clearly pretty confused by his sudden tangent on voles. She tilted her head slightly to the side. She didn’t mind too much that he was going off of task. Instead she gave a somewhat bewildered look. “I’ve never tried a vole before.” She mentioned somewhat offhandedly as continued to listen for any sound around them just in case.

Giving a small nod of his head, despite still not being certain of anything they had talked about, he stood up and started trailing behind her back towards the camp. His father's death, his lack of belonging, and Hazelrunner's duty to being a warrior...these things all seemed so different to him, and he didn't yet seem to realize how much of an interlaced effect they had on him. In his mind, he simply felt that all of these things were unfair and were going to impact him negatively. Hazelrunner, she was kinder than any other, but he shouldn't ask her to take time for him away from her warrior duties.
He had to focus on the one thing he could change. Perhaps, he could make the clan listen to alternative solutions. Try to find a different way to handle his father. Killing couldn't be the only way this would end.
"What?" It was a sharp hiss, as he immediately crouched down and sniffed the air deeply, every scent around them flowing through his senses as he processed the ones he didn't know. He soon found the one they were looking for. "She...she is here!" He hissed quietly, his pelt beginning to prickle with nervous anticipation. "I...we have a chance, then. Let's get closer and figure out something to do."
Lavenderfur seemed to be blinked back into reality as her tail waved in front of his awestruck face, and deep red embarrassment flushed his cheeks and ears. Once she brought up Speckleflower's confession he thought about the confusion and disbelief he had felt in that moment. That was far more so than now, obviously, but he did remember how bluntly she had to lay it on to him in order for him to get it into his brain. "W...well...I was...you know...being a warrior is...uhh...it..." He trailed off as his cheeks grew more red and he averted his gaze down towards his paws.
It was easy to imagine that Ravenfang was feeling quite uneasy and a little uncomfortable given how he felt he had been in the wrong, and that he was so suddenly helping Wrenflight with something after speaking with her. His tangent being a result of his discomfort didn't seem to be on topic, but he was trying to fill awkward silent space.
He didn't say anything as she commented she had never tried it before, instead scenting the air now that they had walked a little farther from the camp. He stood still for three or four seconds, then grew a small grin on his muzzle. "Here we go." He pointed his tail in the direction of Shadowclan territory, though they still lie quite far from it. The rabbit could be seen as a small figure moving. Luckily for them the slight breeze was blowing its scent towards them and not the other way around.

Lilyheart took the lead on the way back to camp. Staring ahead as she walked, Shadowpaw’s concerns made her start to think more deeply about how Nightstar’s possible demise could take a toll on Shadowpaw. She flicked her tail chancing a glance over her shoulder at the apprentince. She doubted his assurances that Hazelrunner was so married to her warrior duties that she wouldn’t have time to talk to him. She slowly turned to look back ahead as the camp came back into view.
The Windclan she-cat sighed as she finally stepped back into camp from a border patrol. The second patrol she’d been on today. She barely made it into camp before she started to go directly for her nest. Maybe if she caught a quick nap she would be ready to take on an evening patrol too. Yawning to herself she didn’t really take notice of the fact that there weren’t a lot of cats in camp. She also didn’t notice Mousepaw’s tail laying on the ground either. She trampled right over the top of it and only seemed to notice when Mousepaw let a loud hiss of annoyance. “Sorry.” She mewed with a slight sheepish smile. She tipped her head when she saw how close Mousepaw was sitting with Leafpaw. “Hey Leafpaw.” She mewed with a soft flick of her tail in greeting.
She did turn her head when she heard cats coming through the entrance. She smiled briefly to Shadowpaw and Lilyheart. The warrior had been so caught up in her warrior duties that she hadn’t noticed the fact that Leafpaw and Shadowpaw were clearly unhappy. She didn’t really get to see them much. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to. It was just she kept getting roped into other things.
Dogclaw was both relieved and concerned that Whispersong was here. It was better than her being in Shadowclan, but they were still in enemy territory. “Wait, I think I hear some cats coming.” He hissed getting lower to ground. He could hear the sound of more than one cat splashing in the water. “Probably Shadowclan.” He muttered as he slithered towards a clump of weeds to take cover in. The scents were hard to really make out, but there were definitely cats coming. Ducking in the brush they would have to hope they stayed undetected.
She watched as he devolved into a stuttering mess. Dear Starclan it felt like that night all over again. She giggled softly to herself crouching down slightly to touch her nose to her mate’s. “I already know all that. I’m glad I waited for you though.” Smiling she purred softly before stepping away from her mate.
The awkwardness was almost so thick around the two cats she stopped even looking for rabbits. Ravenfang had basically trapped himself between a rock and a hard place and Wrenflight wasnt’ entirely sure what to do about it. Things would probably be like this for a long time. Although, she was starting to wonder if it would ever get better.
She jolted to attention when Ravenfang pointed out an actual rabbit. She squinted her eyes to look at the tiny form in the distance. She kept her attention on the rabbit although hung back behind Ravenfang trying to work out for herself how she was going to not completely fail at chasing a rabbit.

His gaze seemed to be absently following the grass in front of him as he walked, and he didn't even seem to notice Lilyheart glancing towards him over her shoulder. He was deep into his thoughts and it wasn't clear if he would even notice if Lilyheart strayed away from him.
Leafpaw had overslept by a lot, and when she heard Hazelrunner greet her sunnily, she began realizing it might be later than she thought it was. Pulling her head up, her fur ruffled and her eyes half closed, she mumbled a greeting to her friend. "Get back from morning patrol?" She sleepily asked, then seemed to realize how close the warmth of Mousepaw was near her. She'd been noticing him more and more often slipping closer, but she didn't know if she should be paying attention to some meaning behind it.
Shadowpaw was absentminded all the way to camp, not even noticing the smile from his friend. He drifted into one corner of camp, sitting on the floor and quietly keeping to himself.
Hawktail bent himself to the ground as tightly as he could. This was really bad-they were so exposed here, so easy to see, if they weren't scented first. Trying to hide himself next to Dogclaw, he felt a cold sweat developing on the back of his neck. The next several seconds were some of the longest in his life.
Just when the panic in his head was beginning to spread through his heart and risk taking over him, the sounds of conversation and padding seemed to start dying off. He waited at least another ten seconds, before he released a deeply held breath that had left his lungs aching for oxygen. "Oh, by the grace of Starclan..." He muttered, something very unusual for the relatively unpious cat.
His embarrassment turned quickly to enamorment as she stepped closer and put an end to his stuttering mess. A loud purr resonated from him, and he pulled closer soon after she stepped away and began nuzzling her lovingly. "I'm glad you're a lot smarter and braver than me," he mused with a chuckle.
Ravenfang took in a deep breath, releasing it a few short moments later. "Okay, so we should draw quite a bit closer first...we'll get there stealthily...the most important part of catching the rabbit is that you get to your maximum speed as fast as possible. That means you have to start moving all of your legs almost immediately, and you might, umm...trip a bit before you get used to it. Rabbits are very fast so every moment counts." He began stalking forward. This was the advantage of the moorland; as long as you weren't seen, it was really hard to make noise moving.

She flicked her ears back when Shadowpaw didn’t seem to notice her and just went to go sit alone on the far side of camp. She reminded herself to talk to him soon. Hazelrunner settled herself down, seeming to not notice the ever so slightly annoyed look from Mousepaw. “Yeah, my second one.” The young warrior mewed with a yawn. She’d gone on dawn patrol and then decided to just get another patrol out of the way so she could rest the rest of the day. “Are you just getting up?” She mewed with a slight tilt of her head as she saw Leafpaw’s ruffled fur and sleepy expression.
Mousepaw had been perfectly content where he was, dozing off after a long night training. That was until Hazelrunner trampled right over his tail and woke Leafpaw. He rolled his eyes and gave a few quick licks of his chest to hide his irritation. He didn’t move from his spot either. Leafpaw was fine with it. He was starting to think that maybe she was warming up him, instead of the more rational conclusion being that she was just trying to be nice to him since she was a nice cat.
Dogclaw pressed himself flat against the muddy ground, grunting silently when Hawktail squeezed behind the tiny clump of shrubs with him. Dogclaw focused intently on listening and trying to pick up the exact scents of who was coming. It was the best way for him to try and focus on something so he wouldn’t completely loose his composure. There was a tense feeling as he caught the quiet voices floating towards them. The wind carried a few words to him, although disconnected. The part that was clear to him was “her to Nightstar...” Catching those words made him hold his very breath to hear more.He tried the best he could to hear them better, but couldn’t without getting closer. When the voices had faded he was still straining for any signs of life.
He turned his head sharply as Hawktail started proclaiming his thanks to Starclan. Dogclaw gave him a slightly strange look before slowly rising out of the mud. “I can’t be sure, but I think I heard something about a she-cat going to Nightstar.” He mewed rather grimly. There was nothing that assured them it was Whispersong but, he had a horrible feeling about it.
“Aw, you’re such a charmer.” Speckleflower cooed and nuzzled him in return. Purring to herself she scooted closer to her mate, brushing against his still warm pelt. Even if these moments were scarcer with kits she was still glad to have them any way. Cinderkit luckily didn’t try and spy on his parents anymore while they were out there and had probably over played it enough to keep his brother from being scarred for life like he was.
Wrenflight stared at the rabbit intensely nodding her head in understanding as Ravenfang explained the basics. She blinked after a moment realizing that Ravenfang had already gotten in front of her and was stalking forwards towards the rabbit. Dropping into a crouch she slowly followed after him. She felt a little silly hugging the ground as close as she could, but she felt too exposed without any real cover to hide behind. She didn’t see how a rabbit wouldn’t see them coming. When it did she guessed she was going to have to run as fast as she possibly could. Prowling ever closer she narrowed her eyes digging her claws into the soft ground beneath her to get a better grip underneath her.

Leafpaw's ears folded back against her head as Hazelrunner mentioned that that had been her second patrol. Was it seriously already sunhigh? She couldn't have slept that long! "Uhh...yeah...I..." She looked down at her paws trying to stifle a yawn as she did so. "I didn't realize it was so late."
She mentioned nothing of the nightmares she had been experiencing recently. It was foggy in her head and she was struggling to recall the content, but they had been coming almost every night. A dark place. She remembered laughter, but not the cheery kind; the deeply unsettling sort. Looking back up at Hazelrunner, she finally let the yawn release, then stood up slowly and stiffly. "Ugghh...." She groaned, stepping forward towards the exit of the den. She didn't say anything to Mousepaw as she stepped away, pushing her observation of his sleeping pattern to the back of her mind. It was quickly growing colder; it must be as simple as that.
Finally stepping out near her friend, she looked up to the sky. "Ugghh...its...it looks like its going to rain," She groaned again, complaining about the incoming weather. Honestly, they hadn't even reached the bad part of the weather and she was tired of the cold. Hawktail's ears pressed back and he tensed when Dogclaw repeated the words he believed he had heard. If that was true, this mission was a complete bust. "If...if so, we're doomed. We...we have to hope it wasn't her. Let's just...try to check Riverclan. We have to hope that was someone else." Hawktail was vainly grasping onto the chance it wasn't her being brought to Nightstar. There were a lot of she-cats left in Riverclan; they'd killed most of the toms, right? Ravenfang continued on like this for a while with Wrenflight, until he felt like he might start jeaporadizing Wrenflight's chances of getting the rabbit. Even upwind the rabbit would eventually be able to catch the scent of two cats who had bvery distinctive smells. "As close as you can, until it sees or hears you, then hurl towards it," he whispered to her as she started passing him. He then took to watching with anticipation. "We're taking her to Nightstar because she has defied me for the last time!" She snapped at the tom-cat beside her. She didn't know if all the poppyseeds in the territories could make a cat dumber than some of these toms! Just because Nightstar didn't want to be bothered by trivial matters, it didn't mean an attack on Petalstream would be beneath him! Nightstar had fallen for her, clearly, and he was going to do what she asked.
She continued on with the escort dragging Whispersong along as they approached the camp. Her wounds were reopening, in part due to the poor job that Petalstream had forced Frogstrike to do. Readying herself to enter the camp, she reasserted a stature of authority, raising her head, stiffening her shoulders and strolling past the single guard posted in front of the entrance. She didn't acknowledge him.
Her presence was known quickly, and it wasn't long before Nighstar had exited his den to meet them.

“You are sleeping okay aren’t you?” Hazelrunner mewed as she looked over Leafpaw carefully. It wasn’t like her to sleep in this late. She’d nearly slept half the day away. While she waited for an answer her eyes flickered between Mousepaw and Leafpaw as Leafpaw got to her paws. The young warrior was curious if Mousepaw was starting to have feelings for Leafpaw again. He certainly seemed to want an excuse to be close to her. Of course did she have any room to talk? Her and Shadowpaw liked to stay close to one another.
She blinked and quickly turned to look up at the sky. Sure enough there were dark clouds forming in the sky. “The bad weather is starting to come in. Probably won’t be long until we have snow on the ground.” She shivered at the thought of having to trudge out in the cold after the rabbits. Stretching her long legs out she turned to look at her friend. “I might have to start stockpiling bird feathers for nests.” Hazelrunner mewed with a light smile, trying to stay somewhat positive.
Dogclaw turned to look at Hawktail, doubt clouding his expression. “Okay, we’ll go check.” It was a slim chance that it wasn’t Whispersong taken to Shadowclan. He tried to pick out her scent again, but the stink of Shadowclan overpowered any other smells. “Let’s go.” He mewed hoarsely as he slowly crouched down and reluctantly proceeded towards the heart of the territory. He was holding out hope that she hadn’t made it Shadowclan cat just yet. After creeping forwards very slowly he paused when he heard another loud splash. Luckily now there was some cover to hide in now. “Cat.” He whispered again before crouching down into a thick patch of brush trying to be as quiet as he could be while the branches scratched at his pelt.
She slowed a little when Ravenfang came to a stop. Drawing in a deep breath she slowly nodded her head. “Wish me luck.” She mewed somewhat anxiously as she started to creep ever closer to the unsuspecting rabbit. She made it a few slowly measured steps before she saw the rabbit’s ears twitch. She took one more step before gathering up her muscles and hurling herself forwards at the rabbit. The rabbit though, turned and darted away in an instant. Wrenflight growled a little as she hit the ground running after the rabbit as fast as she could. The she-cat dug her claws in and ran as hard as she could to catch up with the rabbit. Gaining ground on it she hurled herself at it again sinking her claws into its side, sending her and the rabbit tumbling down a hill. When they stopped rolling she quickly reached out and bit down on the rabbit. She was panting and breathing heavily her fur was ruffled, covered in grass and dirt. Still, she was still beaming from ear to ear.
Despite his best efforts to deny the fact that he cared about what happened to the Windclan cat, he still found himself hurtling across the Riverclan border towards Shadowclan. He was soaking wet from his little swim. He only slowed when he got to the entrance of Shadowclan camp. Rolling his eyes he quickly ducked through the entrance. He muttered a string of curses when he saw that Nightstar had already graced them with his presence. Frogstrike pushed his way through the crowd of cats. Weaseling his way towards the front of grathering cats he stood tense with rather tense waiting to see just what was going to happen. He sighed looking at the patchwork wounds that were already opening up again.

Leafpaw nodded half-consciously, more of a tilting up and down than a full nod. She looked quite exhausted and her posture didn't match her nodding. Gazing up at the forming dark clouds, she bit her lip. "Didn't Ravenfang say...tonight is the liberation attempt? They're storming Riverclan, us and Thunderclan together? It...its going to storm. Its going to be a...a hard battle..." She murmured quietly.
Ravenfang had said the apprentices were staying behind. Leafpaw had been surprised at this at first, but Ravenfang quickly explained that there was a viciousness in battle that Shadowclan was using, which the apprentices were not prepared for. It made Leafpaw uneasy, wondering if she had still been performing underwhelmingly...but she could also see Ravenfang's logic.
Hawktail began slowly separating from Dogclaw as they moved, giving themselves some space between each other in case, somehow, one of them was spotted. Perhaps they'd have a chance to stop an attempted apprehension if they weren't seen together.
He hunched down low as Dogclaw, still only a few tail lengths away, whispered that a cat was approaching. He couldn't see well after crouching, deliberately folding his ears back.
Ravenfang jumped up and began approaching at a fast speed as Wrenflight hurled towards the rabbit, trying to get a closer sight of whether she was going to catch it. The rabbit was sure fast, but Wrenflight had done a good job getting close before leaping forward. He was drawing within hearing range when she finally sunk into it with her claws, rolling and tumbling; he readied himself to hurl after the rabbit himself if it got up and away from her, but she was quick enough that she managed to grab the kill for herself.
He smiled an honest smile at her successful hunt. "That was awesome. You looked like a natural Windclan cat. Plus a little...dirt and grass, but that's fine," He chuckled quietly.
Petalstream quickly explained to Nightstar how the WIndclan she-cat had assaulted her and was now in line for punishment. Sighing quietly, Nightstar hopped down from his perch above the rest of the clan and approached forward. He gazed down at the cowering and clearly terrified Whispersong, who was seeming to regret the choices that she had made.
"Tsk, tsk...tsk." He shook his head slowly. "I was willing to give you a chance to live, you know. A life in the new world I will build for the clans. I was going to be generous and merciful." His mercy was hard to come by, and he knew the other clans would call it something very different. He didn't care. "Make sure that wound of her's is plenty open. Watch her, and let it bleed out. Or infect. I don't care. Just make her die slowly."

Hazelrunner scooted closer to friend, just in case she started to fall asleep she would have someone to lean on, from her posture it didn’t look like she had much energy. The young warrior nodded slowly and shifted a little uncomfortably. “Yeah I think the Thunderclan cats are going to be here in a little while.” She looked briefly around camp as the medicine cats were already bundling herbs together, preparing for all the injuries. Otterfur was clearly brisking with anticipation for the coming fight.
Hazelrunner sighed a little when she looked back at Leafpaw. “The rain will probably make things a lot harder.” She mewed with a frown. Her eyes flickered towards Shadowpaw and then back again to Leafpaw. Personally she was glad that Ravenfang had decided to keep the apprentices in camp. Her eyes clouded a little when she looked at Leafpaw. Worry flashed in her eyes as she dreaded the possibility of Nightstar getting a hold of Shadowpaw or Leafpaw for that matter...
He listened to the loud splashes and equally loud pawsteps. They didn’t have to wait nearly as long until the pawsteps faded into the distance. Slinking from the bush he glanced towards Hawktail and nodded his head for them to continue. After that he very slowly started to slink towards the river. How exactly they were going to get across it he didn’t know. He certainly didn’t have very much swimming experience. He crouched down in the brush along the shoreline gazing intently at the Riverclan camp. He couldn’t hear much over the water moving just ahead of them.
Wrenflight stayed on the ground for a few seconds trying to catch her breath. She stared down at the rabbit in quiet amazement, a bit surprised she’d actually managed to catch it. Slowly sitting herself up she offered a light breezy laugh as he brought up the bits of grass and dirt she was covered in. “It probably could have been a little less messy.” Unhooking her claws from the rabbit she shook her pelt, knocking off most of the grass, but she still had dirt smudging her pelt.
“And it was kind of fun.” Wrenflight admitted taking a moment to lick the blood off of her paw still smiling to herself. Maybe she could make a Windclan cat yet.
Frogstrike frowned when Nightstar handed down his mercy as he called it. The medicine cat sighed softly as he looked down at the cowering she-cat on the ground. Starclan help him for what he was about to do. The tiny tom shouldered his way through the remaining cats in front of him. He made himself as small and inoffensive as he could ears pinned flatted against his head. “Nightstar please I’d like to make a request.” The medicine cat kept his voice steady, but quiet. “She-cats are a precious thing that should not be wasted.” Frogstrike raised his head ever so slightly to look up at the husky tom. “I would like to take responsibility for her myself.” He let his words linger for a moment, swallowing a large lump in his throat. Up until now he had of course shown no interest in any she-cats because of the fact he was a medicine cat and doing so would be against the code he swore to live by. “I’ve been weak and not followed the true warrior life.” Frogstrike shrunk himself up even smaller now. “I have not...contributed like I should have.”
He snapped his eyes to Whispersong, his eyes filled with venom. “It is disgusting to think that a she-cat would be given such a mercy without doing her part to contribute to the new future of our clans.” His claws slid out as he gritted his teeth as if struggling to keep composed. His claws quickly disppeared and he turned away from the she-cat to Nightstar again before he flickered his eyes down to his paws. “Please let me see to it myself that she is made use of.”

Leafpaw noticed her friend's kind gesture and with a tired, light purr, she settled herself and leaned gently on her friend, though fighting to keep her eyes open. "Hey...I..." She listened as Hazelrunner conjectured about the coming battle, aligning with what she was feeling and thinking. "You have to stay safe. Okay? You're my only..." She went quiet for a few seconds, her promise to Shadowpaw trailing back into her mind after she had said that. "You're my best friend. Just...stay safe. Shadowclan is...you have to be ready for anything."
Hawktail approached alongside Dogclaw, readying himself for the dangers that may lie ahead. Whatever happened, he was going to stay alongside Dogclaw in this. He owed his clanmate that. "Are you ready? If you don't want to do this, I'm not going to criticize you. But I'm going in." "It is a rush to chase a rabbit, isn't it?" He smiled. Even if he preferred other prey to rabbit, he could not deny the feeling in the gut of his stomach when he was racing towards one. It was the proof of his ancestry; his natural birth-skill.
"Still, Wrenflight, I think you're feeding a cat or two, and that's going to make them very happy." He tilted his head a little. "I, umm...you can...give that to the cat you like." It was absolutely a bending of the Warrior Code. Elders, Queens, and the weak first. But, he had a gut feeling that Wrenflight was going to steer that way nonetheless. "Your first rabbit."
There was an eerie silence from every cat gathered as Frogstrike made his speech about his request. Whispersong's head turned and stared in utter horror as Frogstrike, the cat who she had depended on to patch her wound, requested the opportunity to...use her. And said that it was disgusting she had not contributed. Whispersong couldn't say that she had trusted or relied on him, but she had needed him. And was he just like the rest of them?
A dark glint entered Nightstar's eyes as soon as Frogstrike made a request. Immediately, two thoughts entered into his mind. This was Frogstrike, coming to understand his vision of the clans, the way the natural order would govern their relationships. The relationship between tom-cat and she-cat. This was Frogstrike growing to his way of things.
Or, this was a clever manipulation. Frogstrike was using what he knew would please the leader to hear. This was very conceivable, and more than that, he knew that Frogstrike, fundamentally, wasn't a fan of the necessary killing that the leader performed. Frogstrike was clever, much like him. This could all be a play.
He took in a deep breath, knowing there were many eyes on him and to wait too long was to show weakness. "I see your point, that she has done nothing to contribute to our future. Well then...within a moon, if you can show me that she is growing the future of our clan," It was a clear point. 'Growing the future.' "then I will let you take her as yours. But, if I find you have failed, she will be killed, and you...will go with her."
If Frogstrike had really come to his way of thinking, he would leap at this opportunity to prove himself. If this was manipulation, and Frogstrike failed...in a moon, he would know, and he could be rid of the pests.

Hazelrunner sighed softly as Leafpaw leaned on her clearly already fighting back sleep. As soon as she was done talking about the coming rain and the battle she turned to look at Leafpaw who clearly had something she wanted to say. Hazlerunner’s expression slowly softened as Leafpaw told her to be careful. “I promise I’ll be extra careful and I’ll come back.” She mewed with enough confidence to make it sound like she knew that was undoubtably the case. She didn’t but, she was going to fight with everything she had to come back for Leafpaw and Shadowpaw. “Whatever happens keep yourself safe. And can you make sure Shadowpaw stays safe?” She looked at Leafpaw fully. She hated to have to ask another cat to do so, but she couldn’t be here to protect him if something happened. He was a lot less defenseless than he might have been at one time, but she was still rather uneasy. Blinking away those thoughts she smiled down to Leafpaw. “It’s okay if you want to fall asleep I’ll cover for you.” She mewed softly on a lighter note.
Dogclaw was still looking towards the camp as Hawktail asked him if he was going to go. He paused for a moment before looking back towards the warrior. “If you’ll go I’m coming too. We have to be smart about this. No matter what we see or don’t see we have to try and get in and out undetected. We can’t afford to try and fight or let them know we were even there.” He left it unsaid that even if Whispersong was there, they might have to leave her if they were in danger of being discovered.
“I think I remember hearing that the Riverclan cats escaped through that point there.” He pointed towards a spot at the back of camp, in theory where the nursery and elder’s den would be. It looked even more heavily reinforced then anywhere else, but there might still be a weak point there.
Wrenflight nodded her head although she wasn’t sure that this rush wasn’t just her being a little lightheaded. It still felt good to finally be able to finally be able to catch a rabbit. She tipped her head as Ravenfang said she could give it to a catch liked even though she probably should be putting it to use feeding the elders or queens and kits. Still, he probably was just thinking ahead of what she would have done with it anyway. The prey pile seemed pretty full to her, even if the fish still weren’t a favorite.
She smiled before looking down at the rabbit. “I know it’s not exactly a vole, but would you like to do the honors of sharing my first rabbit with me?” Wrenflight wouldn’t exactly call herself subtle, but she wasn’t really trying to be.
Frogstrike didn’t seem at all effected by Whispersong’s look of utter horror. It was a better alternative than being dead wasn’t it? He didn’t waste too much of his mental energy caring about how she reacted. He kept his attention on Nightstar instead. When he made his decision Frogstrike bowed his head, although there was a ghost of a smile on his face. He seemed pleased with the conditions. “Thank you for the opportunity Nightstar.” He mewed before slowly backing away and strolling his way over towards Whispersong.
He didn’t need to be told anything more. He knew better than to linger around too long. He padded to her side curling his lips back a little sharply nudging her side to her get up. “Get up and get moving.” The small tom hissed his hackles rising a little. He waited no so patiently for her to finally get up. He herded her towards the medicine cat den. “A three legged turtle has a better chance for survival than you.” He hissed in her ear before they disappeared inside the medicine cat den.
Once inside he flicked his tail towards a nest. “Lay down and be still.” His voice was far calmer and his fur had already settled itself back into place. He paused a moment to fix the last remaining pieces of fluff sticking up. He didn’t look directly at her as he did so.

Leafpaw seemed a bit comforted by her friend's promise, knowing that Hazelrunner was true to her word. Still, there was the lingering uncertainty that came with facing this new Shadowclan, and their vicious portrayal of the Warrior Code and life in general. It was hard to think about fighting them.
Her gaze grew slightly more serious as Hazelrunner asked for a favor in reciprocation. Did Shadowpaw still need watching? Leafpaw felt like he was finally growing as a cat, but perhaps he would be anxious about this battle just like her. "Yeah. I can do that."
Hawktail's ears flattened back as Dogclaw said they needed to leave no trace of having been there. If they walked through the entrance making a splash while doing so, there was no way theywould meet that condition. He was about to open his mouth to voice this when the other warrior pointed to what seemed to be a weak point in the barrier of the camp.
Breathing in and out, he began to pad quietly towards it. "Let's see," He whispered. "I hope there aren't any warriors in here."
Ravenfang cleared his throat quietly as she suggested they share the rabbit. Well, that had been...impeccably smooth. Smoother than water flowing over a stone. After a few moments he smiled with a quiet chuckle, looking down at his paws as his mind recalled a memory.
"Well, its not being very good warriors..." He sat down in front of her. "But I suppose..."
As he was herding Whispersong towards the medicine cat's den, Petalstream had hurried to Nightstar's side, not looking particularly pleased. A small victory there.
Whispersong's look of horror was slowly being replaced with terror as she slowly stood up, her legs shaking and her stomach aching with sharp pain. This was truly happening. Only a quarter-moon early she was chatting it up with Dogclaw and now this tom-cat what going to use her for pleasure and as a bargaining chip to make himself look good.
She struggled into the den, keeping her eyes on her paws as her speed was insulted. She didn't know if he was talking about her speed, or having attacked Petalstream, or what. Shw slowly lumbered towards the nest, sitting and cowering in it while turned away from Frogstrike, like not looking at him would slow this down, or something.
