Honestly, when I played Cattails (2017) I somehow didn't realize that none of the cats were explicitly gendered in-game or like intentionally all they/them. When I finally noticed it in Wildwood Story, I assumed it was either a date-ability thing (so the player's preference could be projected) or just "cats don't know what gender is" - until I realized Lainey explicitly referred to having a mother who iirc uses she/her, while any npc parents are just "parents". Which I guess doesn't necessarily mean it's not a date-ability thing, but it does mean the cats know what genders are.

Which is my long-winded way of saying that I agree all the cats (except Delta from 2017, apparently) are non-binary in some way shape or form AND use they/them pronouns. I also find it fun to get really specific, though. (I also don't say this to be disparaging to anyone, I just sort of wanted to share my thoughts on the cats' genders, I hope my words don't come off harshly !) This also kind of makes me want to make a Similar thread that's more about implicit bias than actual headcanons...

I returned to this forum after a ton of years by now, and woah, you guys really contributed here so far I’ve seen. Again thank you all for participating and giving a new view on the characters or just your personal ones. I never got to play Wildwood story and never even expected it to be a thing, but once I play, I think I’ll share some of my headcanon on that too and return to you with a redone list of mine if anything changed since… a long time. It’s nice to see you all being interested in the topic though up to this year, let alone month. It’s a bigger community than I expected to be.
