Game controller issues

Hi, just having a few issues with some of my controllers Im using to play cattails. 

i am unable to use skills with the 8bitdo SNPRO 30 so i've been using my Steam controller instead with its awful touchpads,

the second issue is i cannot find any way to open the map with any controller, am i missing something or can you just not do that with controllers?

Found how to get the map up, but still issues with the SNPRO for skills. cant you find them to the D pad instead?
