This isn't technically a suggestion thread since I don't really know what to suggest to fix the problem, but...
Winter is about the lamest part of the year. There's no bugs to collect, no herbs to collect (aside from snake lilies and blueberries) and the fish disappear from the ocean despite it not freezing over... There's not much to do except go into the mines, and even then, unless you had a massive storage of herbs from the past two seasons, there's not much of that you can do once your supply of healing herbs runs out. I think Winter could use something to liven it up. Something exclusive to it. But I'm not sure what... What do you think?

I know you are not asking for suggestions but...
Maybe there can be a small lake with a cave that is only accessible during winter when the water freezes. The cave has multiple levels, can only be used once per 24-hours (entrance gets blocked by snow once you leave and won't "melt" until the time limit is up), and is like a multi-round beat-em up with progressively difficult enemies. The rewards for each successful round can be simple items (herbs, prey) or small amounts of mews until they progress into a unique accessory similar to the lvl-100 mine reward. Just something challenging for those long, slow winters.

A special mine that was unreachable except when the lake iced over was in Friends of Mineral Town, so you could definitely use something similar here...although I'm not sure fighting challenges are what I want--the guardian quests had enough of that, haha. Maybe have some underground lakes that aren't frozen and full of fish? Hm....

Yeah, I see what you mean. I personally love winter, and it almost never snows where I live, so I just like walking around and enjoying the ambience. I do think it could use something to make it more unique, though.

Maybe a special shop for like new pelts, accessories, pets and den decor only in the Winter? And you have to do some random things to unlock before Winter ends. If you don't finish then it will reset your progress to get the shop next Winter. But if you do you always have access to the shop during Winter. It would be fun to have something to do during Winter and a good motivation to get mews if you are running out of things to do with your mews.
