Cattails Tutorial Videos: Official Thread

I just took all our money making ideas and put them together in a list. When I go to make the video, I will probably sort them a little better, but this is it for now. Did I miss anything, and is there anything I should add?

CATTAILS- MEWS GUIDE

1. Pick up every herb you find, even if you don’t really want it and sell those
2. Sell anything you don’t want or need
3. Visit the beach and pick up any scallops and shells you find. Sell those.
4. Use spring and summer to hunt a bunch. Sell any prey you catch.
5. In winter, sell any extra prey you can spare
6. Get high friendship levels with the cats in your colony. You can sell the gifts they give you.
7. Catch any insects you find. They might not sell for more than a few mews, but it can add up quickly.
8. Sell any uncommon or rare prey you catch.
9. Sell commonly found herbs and berries.
10. Participate in battles and fight off any border wanderers you run into.
11. Turn your difficulty level down and hunt. You will catch more prey that way.

I still have to edit this video together, but I did it. I went from 2 stars all the way to having kittens with a cat in one night. I also made it to 200 hours of gameplay tonight, and I hit quite a jackpot really. I managed to catch four bluejays, four cardinals, a catfish, and a black firefly. The last two I've never caught before until tonight's play.

Oh, yeah? I went from The Mountain Domain w/ having 1 quest in the main quest done to taking over half The Mountain Domain's territory in my own colony AND having kittens in one whole day, also achieving 150 hours of game play, + having each date able cat, docter, guard, and shopkeeper.

I befriended, dated, married, and had kittens in one session. It was in the same session I caught all the rare items. Now I've caught a lunar butterfly, black firefly, and a Northern Emerald dragonfly.

Anyway, it isn't really a competition to see who can do the most in one session.

I really wanted to get kittens and the nursery was finished on a summer festival day too, but the day my kittens were supposed to arrive was a festival day....


What will happen now? Cause the day my kittens will be born is always going to be a festival day.  Am I just never going to have kittens?!

I wonder how many people were tempted to tell me "smh" because I didn't know the kitten times were randomized.

It's just an estimate of the minimum amount of time it would take for your kittens to be born.

I just noticed that the Romance Guide video has crossed 1000 views. Out of all the guides, this one is in the lead. The Hunting Guide is next in line with 400 views.

The newest tutorial will be coming soon. It should be easier for me to get videos out faster now that the semester is over with.

I retyped my outline for the mews guide. I think it's a lot more detailed than it was. Until the video is out, you can read it:

CATTAILS GAME- MEWS GUIDE

1. Upgrade your hunting, fighting, and foraging skills.
    - You will catch prey easier, you will be more lethal in battle, and herbs will be more effective.
2. Lower your difficulty level.
    - You will catch more prey, and enemies cause less damage on you.
3. Gather every herb or plant you find
    - Sell the common ones like Goldenseal, Valerian, and berries.
    - Use Autumn to start stocking up on Goldenseal and Marigold. This won’t get you money at first, but it can save you some for if you get hurt in the winter.
4. Know where to find Catnip.
    -Catnip is worth 15 mews.
    -It regenerates 5 days after you have gathered it.
             --If you gather it from one place one day and a different place a different day, they’ll regenerate on different days. So, if you took it from one place on Summer 1 and a different place on Summer 2, they’d regrow on Summer 6 and Summer 7.
    -You can find Catnip at these locations in all seasons except winter:
             --Cairn Grove, Highland Central, Flower Plains, Forest Eaves, Central Lake, Prairie Border North, Woodland Eyot, River Islet, Delta, Swamp Lakes, and Wetland Border Southwest
5. When you can, get the Garden upgrade for your den.
    -Grow Catnip, Snake Lily, Lavender, and Marigold
    -When those are ready to harvest, you can sell them for extra mews.
6. Catch any insects you find and sell them.
    -Use summer nights to catch fireflies. Sell those the following morning.
           --Aside from the ultra-rare ones, insects don’t sell for more than a few mews, but it can add up quickly.
7. Visit the beach and pick up any shells you find. Sell those.
8. Hunt
    -Especially use spring and summer to hunt when there is more prey around.
    -Sell any uncommon or rare prey you catch.
    -In winter, sell any prey you can spare.
    -If you have fully trained kittens, let them hunt for you.
9.Fight
    -Participate in daily battles and fight off any border wanderers you run into.
10. Make friends with the cats in your colony.
    -After you have four or five stars with them, they will give you gifts. You can sell what they give you.
11. Make it a habit to try and sell something by the end of each day.
    -If you don’t want to sell everything in your inventory, just sell what you don’t want or need.

🌿 ~ Spottedleaf ~ 🌿 If it isn't too late, I've found that hunting early in the morning seems to bring me an inventory full of prey. I would also suggest getting inventory expansions as it means you can collect more of everything that way. I also tend to leave prey in piles near the colony entrance while I'm out hunting (I generally find more prey on a tile right outside the colony, surprisingly enough) and by the time its night time, I take trips between the shopkeeper and the pile and I get tons of mews each night. Night and morning hunting seems more productive than daytime. So in the daytime, I would run prey to the other colonies to raise the reputation in them, thus letting me hunt in their territories as well and sell stuff to their shopkeepers.
