How do i get the sand for construction projects? Also, how do you get wood for construction projects besides using licorice root?

You can get them from placing squads in map regions that give sand or wood when owned (they'll have sand or wood as their item icon on the squad selection screen). Here the top left has wood and the bottom right has sand and rocks.  If you mean with items and not squads, then I'm not sure. |

For items, conches give sand, dried roots (made from licorice) give wood, and polished stones (made from rock debris and silver ore) give stone. |
