Shadowpaw cleared his throat quietly as he thought about the best way to word this without sounding...offensive, or...well, maybe a little doubtful of the warrior code that he was slowly learning anew. "I, umm...if there are supposed to be four different clans that are very separated and different, why have there always been so many cats crossing boundaries, mixing, and...I don't know...it probably wasn't the truth in many ways, but I learned that the clans have always broken that rule. And...I mean, I'm guilty of it too, but..." He trailed off. He felt like it was fair to say his circumstances were...special. Even if his father wouldn't accept that answer for anything.
Ebonykit slinked forward as Longshadow started moving, uncertain about his ability to do this although he had been truthful when he said moving itself was okay; it really was the movement of his chest breathing that pained him. Gritting his teeth and trying to push forward next to his brother, adrenaline still pumping through his veins although his heart was slowing down somewhat, he tried to follow along at Longshadow's pace, while leaning into his brother, walking right alongside him as the both of them began shivering together as the rain began slowly watering their pelts. It was not long before it was starting to increase pace.
Tawnyface could see that Longshadow's self-exertion was catching up to him quickly now that the battle and the adrenaline had stopped coming to them. Gritting her teeth she wanted to scold him for leaving the den but knew that situation could have gone a lot more badly without him. Well, he could have sent another cat! Tawnyface was certain he didn't even searched jsut because he wanted out so bad. "How'd you know to come out?" She hissed, her voice a little cold as she asked Longshadow the question.
Leafpaw blinked at Mousepaw as the apprentice didn't seem to react hardly at all to the presence of the other apprentice. It seemed just a little bit dismissive, but okay. That could just be that he was a little hungry and grumpy. A chill was blowing through the camp and perhaps it didn't seem fun to travel the whole territory; more than anything Mousepaw probably thought Applepaw would of been asleep longer. Leafpaw rationalized in several different ways and then watched as he nodded and spoke in response at last. As the Riverclan cat turned to her and asked if she was accompanying them, she awkwardly cleared her throat. "U-umm...if that's okay with you, I um...don't want to push my way into the Riverclan camp if Otterfur wouldn't like it."
Ravenfang blinked a couple times as he thought about addressing the tom-cat as Otterstar now. The idea seemed a bit strange given how long he had known the cat by his warrior name, from Gatherings moons and moons ago. He took in a quiet breath as she said she would be speaking with him, knowing what conversation was coming. "Well, good luck. Remember, he might be angry, but...that can't stop you from finding what puts you at peace." He was a raging hypocrite saying that, being that he had not only fought himself over his actions in the past and doubted his choices since moons ago, but more recently he had simply avoided her when he felt like he wasn't supposed to allow himself to be around her.
He laughed heartily as they brushed pelts and began dividing their separate directions. "I'll starve first," He joked darkly, smiling with an even gaze at his...at Wrenflight. "I'll see you soon, then?" He asked quietly, before splitting away from her very warm and still-inviting pelt. Truthfully, he hadn't eat in...he couldn't count how long, honestly. As she mentioned food he was left to think about how easily it got away from him over the last...well, a whole day it seemed to him.

The she-cat had started to slow down as the rain started to not only come down but, start to fall faster in very short amount of time. It wasn’t horrible but, she could already feel her pelt starting to become damper as they moved along. The queen turned to look at Shadowpaw, considering his question as they walked. “It doesn’t make a lot of sense when you put it like that...” Speckleflower conceded. She had to mull the thought over for several more moments before she finally had an answer for him. “I imagine it’s always been a problem and that’s why it was put into the warrior code in first place. For there to truly be four clans with no mixing or borders being crossed there would have to be complete peace between all the clans where every clan agrees to stay in their own borders minding their own business. Times change, cats change, and the clans need one another to thrive.” The queen offered her own personal explanation. Sitting around in a nursery all day gave her more time than she’d like to take a more contemplative look at things.
Cinderkit hobbled along, working to support his brother and keep at a pace that he hopefully could keep up with. The rain and his own injuries did plenty to slow him down on their long miserable walk home. The wind almost knocked him off his paws at least once, which honestly wouldn’t have been that hard to do at this point. If Ebonykit was leaning on him for support he most likely would have just flopped himself on to the ground and curled up into a little ball. To a still relatively small cat camp was moons away from them now. For once in his short life though, he sucked it up and continued on without outwardly complaining. It helped that Tawnyface and Longshadow’s wrath scared him as well. Sniffling a little to himself he continued the long miserable trudge home.
Longshadow was huffing and puffing along, slowed down drastically now that the excitement of the battle had worn off. He snapped his head to Tawnyface. “You were taking too long hunting.” The old warrior snapped back as he continued on. It sounded rather harsh coming from any other cat but, coming from Longshadow it meant he was worried about her. The tip of his tail twitched. He certainly wasn’t in any mood to get lectured by the cat he had just saved the tail of. As he put weight on his recovering leg and felt pain shoot up his leg with every step, he knew he was probably going to pay for it later on though. That didn’t mean Tawnyface would be right to be angry with him though...
Applepaw willfully ignored the older tom’s less than warm behavior and the rain that was already starting to get a little stronger. He shook his head a little at Leafpaw’s worry. “He won’t.” Applepaw reassured sounding certain of that. They had Windclan cats in Riverclan helping already, what was a couple more right? “If we’re all going we should go soon shouldn’t we?” Applepaw asked anxiously his eyes flickering hopefully between the two cats.
Mousepaw sighed a little to himself as he felt the rain blow cold into his face. Of course the little furball couldn’t wait a couple more hours until the storm had passed. When he sneaked about getting going he nodded his head again. “I’m ready to go if you guys ar...” He trailed off as Applepaw had already started to make his way to the entrance before he could finish. He turned to Leafpaw with a shrug before quickly turning to follow after the apprentice. “Hey wait up!” The older apprentice called no avail. Applepaw was already making his way out of camp.
The she-cat shifted a bit uneasily as he wished her luck, showing off the fact she was still a little anxious. “I won’t let him stop me, I go for what I want in life” She mewed with a soft purr looking him over before smiling and moving to separate and make her way towards Riverclan camp. She was also anxious to learn about Redsky’s condition. Maybe if she was brave enough she would go in to see her for herself. Ravenfang’s question brought her out of that thought.
“Very soon.” Wrenflight agreed quietly as she took a deep breath and turned to leave. As she left she laughed softly to herself thinking about his little joke, hopefully it didn’t actually come to that. She would put her paw down if she had to make sure the tom took care of himself while he was already so busy trying to take care of every other cat. Before disappearing around the bend in the river she glanced over her shoulder, sighing softly to herself before making her way back towards Riverclan.

Shadowpaw listened as Speckleflower offered him an interesting sight to the question, one that didn't try to defend the act but rather explained that it simply came about by the lack of peace that the clans experienced historically, more than not. He blinked, thinking to himself a few more moments and nodding slowly. "So...throughout time, there have really...always been situations that...maybe aren't like mine, but...situations where cats feel like its wrong to abandon someone? So they take them in?" He waited for her answer to see if he had got the right idea, before drawing his own conclusion about how he felt regarding it. He continued walking along, failing to catch the scent of fox as they were caught between this question he had brought up.
Tawnyface gave a quiet hiss. She was going to have to lecture him later about how easy it would of been to call for another cat to go out and not damage his leg more, but she knew this wasn't the moment for the two of them to start fighting. Making her way behind the rest of them towards camp, she found that despite having several wounds she was the least debilitated from walking, strangely enough, and yet had to stay behind to make sure these tiny balls of trouble didn't suddenly collapse. It was an irritating thing to have to deal with for her.
Leafpaw gave a quiet sigh as Applepaw was already off. Now that the raining was pelting at them she would of preferred to take some time to let it slow down, but it was decided for them and off they were to make it happen. Bringing him over to Riverclan in this sort of weather. She shook her head as Mousepaw shrugged at her, following behind in the last position.

Speckleflower nodded her head as she glanced back at the younger cat. “That’s the way I think of it at least.” The she-cat confirmed as she turned to look back ahead. It might be a bit of pessimistic view of a rule but, there were countless times the separation of the four clans have been tested for better or for worse. “Sometimes it’s just in our nature to look past clan borders...” Her voice trailed off as the scent of fox practically assaulted her, blown in with the wind. Frowning she twitched her tail a little. “I smell fox.” She mewed loud enough for Shadowpaw to hear. “Camp isn’t much further.” She mewed seriously as she slowed down to let the tom take the lead while she kept her eyes fixed in the direction the fox scent was coming from. She couldn’t smell much else and the wind continuously changed making it more difficult to make out any clear scents. For now, she would assume the worst. Her ears perked up when she saw some figures in the distance, coming the opposite direction back towards camp. It was hard to make any of the forms out very clearly, making her tense a little bit.
The older cat was glad that Tawnyface had enough sense not to try and start something here of all times. The last thing they needed to do right now was be at each other’s throats. There was plenty of time for that when they made it back to camp. Every other step was a chore as was trying to watch the two kits they had to monitor as they went along. All things considered he supposed they were doing well enough but, he figured he would have to be prepared to carry one of them the rest of the way back soon. They didn’t have much further to go now at least. He looked back up across the moor and was surprised to see two figures coming back from the Riverclan border. He couldn’t see the cats very clearly but, he waved his tail at them anyway to get their attention. If they could flag them down maybe they could get these kits back to camp a little quicker.
Mousepaw somewhat reluctantly made his way out of the camp entrance after the Riverclan cat. His head was bent down slightly to keep from getting more rain in his face than he had to. He glanced back to see Leafpaw following suit. “You sure you still want to come along?” He questioned a note of humor in his voice as he turned his attention to watch the tiny apprentice. He was moving to catch up but, wasn’t in that great of a hurry to keep up with Applepaw. As long as he could still see the apprentice there was no needed to break his neck just to get back Riverclan. The only reason he was really hurrying in any way was because he wanted to be able to get out of the rain as quickly as possible.

Shadowpaw was thinking about another question to follow up with her as the warrior answered the question, but he instantly froze as the cat mentioned the scent of fox in the territory. Tensing quickly he began at a rejuvenated pace towards the camp. "W-we should get back, then. We....we don't know where they are." He turned back to look at her, then followed her gaze towards some distant figures. "T-that could be a whole family of them..." He quietly murmured with fear in his voice. "W-we have to run back..."
Tawnyface noticed as the tom-cat flagged down some figures a fair distance away, turning and gazing towards them and inspecting to try to figure out who they were. After five moments or, she was fairly certain she could tell who the smaller cat was, though the details were fuzzy and complicated to make out from this distance. "I think its...Shadowpaw...?" She quietly murmured with a drop of surprise in her voice.
Leafpaw grunted in response to Mousepaw's question, not finding it very funny despite the intention to make it so. The rain was not storming like yesterday, but it was hard to know if it was going to pick up again. Usually storms didn't stick around for one evening and then leave them be. "Let's just...get there fast..." She muttered. She knew why she had decided to come along, but this was a lot of work in the cold rain to escort him when Mousepaw, as far as she believed, was a good companion to bring him.

Speckleflower stared at the figures wandering it Shadowpaw was right. They could be the foxes she had been smelling but, then she saw one of the figures seemingly waving their tail to flag them down. Narrowing her eyes a little she tried to get a better idea of just what she was looking at exactly. “I don’t think those are foxes. It almost looks like they’re waving.” She mewed as she waved her own tail in the air. If it was a family of foxes they had quite a bit of distance between them before they would actually pose a threat of any kind. “I’m going to go get a better look.” She told Shadowpaw without pausing to see what the apprentice thought of the idea. Curiosity got the better of her. She picked up a fast jog as she made her way over towards the group of figures still straining to get a better look at them.
“Are you sure?” The tom questioned narrowing his eyes as he tried to get a better look. He honestly couldn’t make out one blur from another at this point. It might be an age thing but, he sure wasn’t going to bring that up. His ears went forwards as the larger figure started making their way towards the group. “Whoever it is hopefully they can help us drag this kits back to camp.” He muttered to himself. He still had no idea it was the kits’ mother yet. It would certainly be quite the shock for any cat to see just how torn up the kits had become because of their little adventure.
Mousepaw sighed a little to himself as he turned his attention back ahead of them. This was shaping up to be a far wetter and more miserable trip than he had already thought it was going to be. The apprentice stalked along, still several tail lengths behind Applepaw. He didn’t know why the kit hadn’t just run out camp when no one was looking. It didn’t seem to make much difference to him if either one of the older cats were here or not. Sighing to himself he watched Applepaw head right for the river at the border. Instead of moving to the stepping stones the apprentice just leap right into the water and paddled his way across. Mousepaw stood and watched in bewilderment. Was the cat secretly part fish or something? Sighing miserably he moved to slowly make his way across the stepping stones taking his time so he didn’t slip on the wetter stones. Getting across he was met by Applepaw who was waiting dutifully for them before abruptly starting off again as soon as Leafpaw go across.

He turned back to the figures as soon as Speckleflower reported what they were doing, and he turned and saw the sawme thing that she was seeing. Blinking at them he didn't protest as she waved her own tail to wave them down. "Yeah, I...I think they're cat, actually." If they were waving their tails...He picked up a jog with her as well, though he stayed just a little little bit bit behind her, still aware of the chance that they could be threats deceiving them to get them in a more vulnerable position.
Tawnyface wasn't completel\y certain until the cats began getting closer, and then she was able to perfectly make out his pelt. "Yes, it is. I can see him." Then, her eyes drifted over to the cat who was striding alongside Shadowpaw, and she froze for a moment as her eyes stopped on the warrior. Her mind stopped and she let out a tired breath as she was reminded of her brief moment in the nursery when the kits had been bombarding her with blunt questions and Speckleflower had tried to pull them away. She had made the choice then to allow her harsh exterior to drop for just a moment to not scare the kittens...now she had to face this mother and tell her she hadn't been good enough to keep the kittens from being harmed. She had faced all sorts of wrath from Nightstar on the various occasions of her failures, but she had not face a scared mother.
Leafpaw followed along, slowly, minute by minute growing a little bit more annoyed as she grew more and more wet. Step by step her paws were getting more soaked and more dirty from the mud and she was regreeting truthfully that they had taken this trip. She should of told the other apprentice that they needed to wait until this storm passed, because she was growing weary that they might fall sick from a shivering cold if they spent more than several pawfuls of minutes out here.
Her head shook as she saw Applepaw taking the journey through the river so easily, even given the water that was pouring down from the sky. She heard Mousepaw's sigh of misery and could not help but feel sympathy to how he was feeling. He walked up beside him and gently nudged him with her shoulder. "We're halfway there..." She mumbled quietly. She waited until he crossed the stones to follow him.

Speckleflower was a bit wary on her approach, she wasn’t going to assume who the cats maybe until she got a better look at them. The four cats that came into view were two warriors and...two smaller cats. She focused on them the closer they got. Then she was able to get a good look at the kit’s coats. Her heart practically stopped, she stumbled a step before quickly recovering. A queen would recognize her kits absolutely anywhere. “Ebonykit! Cinderkit!” The silver tabby cried in surprise. The she-cat had never had run so fast in her life.
Reaching her kits she only slow down when she was right in front of her kits. The queen looked over her kits, her body shaking violently from shock and the driving rain. She crouched down to look over her kits’ wounds, her eyes wide. “My poor babies.” She mewed softly the panic rising in her voice.
Longshadow was momentary relieved to see the two cats coming closer. He nodded his head as they drew closer and it became obvious to him that Shadowpaw was one of the cats. All of his relief dissipated when he got a good look at the cat sprinting towards them through the rain. His jaw fell open as Speckleflower came into view. “Dear Starclan.” He muttered softly under his breath. Of all the cats that had to be coming across the moor, Speckleflower was the worst cat they could have the misfortune of running into. He quietly watched her approach drawing to a stop frowning as he did so, not sure what to say. He wanted to give the she-cat a chance to process the situation.
Despite the miserable state the apprentice was in Leafpaw’s encouragement seemed to lift his spirits up a little. Applepaw had already set off as soon as Leafpaw had gotten across to the other side of the river. Charging forwards he left the two of them in the dust. “Half way there...” He repeated to Leafpaw trying to stay positive but, was having trouble keeping that up as the thunder rumbled overhead. The journey back to Riverclan was a miserable one. Applepaw stopped occasionally to make sure they were keeping up before continuing on. Mousepaw frowned as he watched the apprentice. If either one of them caught greencough from this he was blaming Applepaw for all of this. If he hadn’t wanted to look like the villain in the situation he would have insisted that they waited until there was better weather.
Mousepaw lashed his tail as they came to the river that separated them from the Riverclan camp. There was a loud splash as the apprentice dove into the dark water. The Windclan cat stared at the water before glancing back towards Leafpaw. He wasn’t about to seen as a coward. He put his first paw in the water, wincing as the rush of cold going up his leg.

Shadowpaw was alarmed as Speckleflower suddenly began sprinting forward after a quick stumble, leaving the apprentice behind in the dust as nothing else in her world mattered once she had realized who she was looking at. Shadowpaw quickly realized who they were looking at as well--her kits, Longshadow, and...Tawnyface. Together they all stood as Shadowpaw witnessed the injuries on the little kittens. He quickly increased his pace as well as he saw their injuries--even Tawnyface wasn't looking great, peppered with wounds on many sides that were just stopping their flow of blood down her chest and sides.
Ebonykit took in a shaky and unsteady breath as she realized who was charging towards them, and though it hurt to pull in and expel the breath when she came to a stop right in front of them. The tears started welling down his cheeks as he stepped forward and collapsed into his mother, sobbing from a mixture of the pain and terror they had been through.
Tawnyface felt the same thing in her head as Longshadow while the she-cat was approaching them, though for a different reason. She wasn't ready for what the cat might be feeling in these moments and she would of liked to patch up the wounds better before they had encountered the mother, and she winced as she saw the kit fall into his mother, averting her gaze.
She took a step back as she averted her gaze and found Shadowpaw only a couple steps away, staring up at her as his eyes traveled her wounds. She stared hard at him as she tried to figure out what he was doing, not liking how intensely he was gazing her down.
Lavenderfur was still in the camp and was pouting to himself for more than one reason now as his mate had left him behind despite planting the hope that he would return soon. He felt a little left behind even though he knew that she had two kittens to take care of and couldn't prioritize his problems over theirs. He still needed to deal with the fact that he had caused this injury, and there was an apprentice back in Windclan that he was going to have to face eventually.

Cinderkit sniffled when their mother suddenly appeared running across the moor towards them. He tried to hold himself together but, as soon as he brother collapsed into Speckleflower’s coat he couldn’t stop himself from starting to cry himself. The miserable kit made his way over to his mother and laid his head on her chest, now crying like a newborn kitten, both from relief, fear, and the overwhelming trauma of the whole situation.
Her heart broke a little as she watched her kits come crying over to her both clearly hurt and traumatized by whatever they had gone through. She put her tail protectively around her two kits taking a moment to try and make sure they would be alright. The wound on Ebonykit’s chest was the one that was the most concerning to her. The cobwebs wouldn’t last long with all of this rain. She gave Ebonykit a reassuring lick on the top of his head. “My poor kits.” She mewed shakily. Questions were buzzing around in her mind but, she kept her attention on her kits for several silent moments. She should have stayed with her kits. Then this wouldn’t have happened.
The senior warrior shifted his weight from one paw to another. The situation was both sad and rather strained as he watched the queen wrap herself protectively around her kits as they continued to cry pitifully and sniffling. His ears laid flat against his head. He frowned glancing briefly around at the other cats. His eyes scanned over Tawnyface and Shadowpaw exchanging hard stares. The old tom stood rather uncomfortably trying to get weight off of his injured back leg while they waited. Despite his eagerness to go back to camp, he didn’t have the heart to break the stifling silence.
The queen muttered quiet reassurances to her kits to give them some comfort. Her gold eyes slowly moved up away from her kits to the warriors that had been accompanying her kits. “What happened?” Speckleflower questioned both the warriors to both of the warriors, staring at them despite the fact they didn’t seem able to look in her direction.
Applepaw swam across the river strongly ignoring the driving rain and swelling water. Reaching the opposite shore without much trouble he looked towards the camp entrance seemingly ready to bolt into the camp. Still, he forced himself to stand still long enough to let Mousepaw and Leafpaw catch up. Dancing anxiously on the shore he could only stand still for so long. As soon as it seemed that Mousepaw and Leafpaw were close to the shore. Wheeling around he went running through the camp entrance. Ducking through he emerged into the camp looking this way and that. He didn’t stop to look at the damaged camp or his clanmates moving to find shelter. Instead he went running for the medicine cat den.

Tawnyface's ears, against her own will, eventually flattened back as Shadowpaw was staring at her unblinking in the midst of all the emotion running around their group. It was unnerving how quietly he was staring at her and saying nothing, whilst the kits fell apart around their mother and she tried to extract an answer from the other warriors.
She pulled her gaze away from Shadowpaw finally and glanced over at Speckleflower, then quickly averted her eyes as she saw the bawling kittens which left her unable to keep her gaze lifted up above the ground. She tried to find the right words but eventually figured she didn't even know how they had gotten outside of the camp. It must have been that so many cats were out of camp that no one was vigilantly watching the exit of the camp. "...they got out while I was hunting, and...I found them..." She gulped as she tried to explain the situation. "...a fox was chasing them, and I..." She glanced over to the corpses of the dead foxes. "They tried to help me..." She quietly mumbled.
Shadowpaw watched and listened closely as Tawnyface restated what had happened in few words, seemingly struggling to recount what had happened. She seemed reticent and ashamed, her eyes darting about and finally setting on the floor of the territory. He couldn't understand why in this moment but she seemed to have a heavy heart right now. Swallowing, he turned away from the group and quiet said "I'm finding cobwebs," before marching away without waiting for a response or objection.
Lavenderfur's hackles raised as the apprentice practically came crashing through the entrance. Eventually was already here and he almost immediately recognized the kitten as his heart swelled up with anxiety, feeling like the kitten had crashed through like a force of karma coming for him. Applepaw raced for the medicine cat's den on his own with two other cats slowly coming through the cold water, and with wide eyes staring at the medicine cat's den, he stood up stiffly.
Leafpaw was shaking by the time she got out of the water from the entrance of the Riverclan camp, finding zero relief as the rain continued pelting down on her. Glancing at the medicine cat's den she got ready for whatever mess of emotion was about to bombard the whole camp around them, slowly walking towards the den. Her eyes widened a little as she saw Wildberry in the dead center of the medicine cat's den trying to help Redsky in some way. That was not good.

Intently staring at the two warriors she waited, she didn’t seem angry mostly panicked and concerned. Her two kits were injured and Tawnyface was torn up as well. When Tawnyface finally showed up she couldn’t hide the shock from her face when Tawnyface revealed that she found them out of camp being attacked by a fox. Her tail unconsciously wrapped tighter around her kits. She only looked away when Tawnyface explained that they had tried to help her in the fight. She looked down at her kits again swallowing thickly. She couldn’t imagine her kits throwing themselves into a fight like that. She had a number of questions for her own kits as to what they could have been thinking, but set them aside for now as her kits were still balling uncontrollably. Frowning she looked past the warriors to the limp foxes in the distance. Her face became rather pale.
Drawing in a rather shaky breath she watched Shadowpaw run off to go get cobwebs. Her eyes finally moved back to Tawnyface she was clearly shaking not from the rain but, her shock from the news of what had almost happened to her kits. She did her pet to shield her kits from the world until Shadowpaw returned.
Applepaw came running towards the medicine cat den. His expression was a range full of emotions as he moved to actually get to see his mother for the first time in two days. He was hopeful that everything would be just fine, but he was also preparing himself for the wounds she might have. No amount of mental preparation could truly prepare him from what he found in the den. Wildberry was hunched over his mother, her face contorted into worried and concentrated expression. The cobwebs were pulled away from her neck to reveal the swollen open wound in his mother’s neck. Redsky was laying with her eyes partially open. The eyes were dull and somewhat listless. The world went still for a moment as he stood in the entrance of the den. His mind was drawn back to seeing a glimpse of Shadestar as his mother pulled him out of the apprentice den to flee from camp. Redsky didn’t immediately seem to notice her kit appearing in the den until he took a slow step into the den. Wildberry sighed loudly putting her paw firmly on the she-cat’s shoulder to keep her from getting up. Applepaw quickly moved his way into the den crowding close to his mother despite how much he might be in way of the medicine cat’s way.
Mousepaw slogged his way through the entrance of Riverclan camp grunting to himself. There was a clear heavy cloud of emotions going around the camp but, he was so miserable he hardly noticed. Even he was aware of the seriousness of the situation when they came to the den behind Applepaw to see Redsky being hovered over by Wildberry and Lilyheart, hardly looking in that great of shape.

Tawnyface's gaze finally returned as she heard nothing at all from the mother, expecting anger and receiving only silence, a cold and shaky silence that left Tawnyface almost more nervous than an outburst of anger would have. She was used to anger and shouting...she wasn't used to quiet, uncertain and unreliable silence. She didn't know why, but it put her more at unease.
As she gazed down at the kittens bawling their eyes out she had to wonder why they jumped into this fight. They should have ran and returned to camp and they would have been just fine, but instead like a pair of complete mouse-brains the tiny creatures had put themselves in the way of great harm, and they had gotten hurt. She could of chewed them out hard if she herself wasn't so on edge and shaken and their mother almost the same.
It was an uncomfortable and almost silent four or five minutes as Tawnyface was unable to explain anymore and Ebonykit spent a long time bawling his eyes out before he was out of tears to expend and simply sniveled pathetically and shook from the fear more. Finally, Shadowpaw came back into vision, moving at a pretty fast pace. Once he drew close by it was easy to see he had gathered a fair amount of cobwebs and, drawing near the queen, pulled more than half of it apart to leave for Speckleflower to tend to her kittens, while he took a bit remaining and turned to Tawnyface, intenting to give it to her for the biggest of her wounds.
"I'm fine," Tawnyface hissed aggressively. "I don't need anything. Give it to them."
Nor was Leafpaw prepared for the horror of Redsky nor Dogclaw's shape as she approached beside Mousepaw to gaze into the den. A quiet gasp emanated from her lips and for a brief quick moment she felt her stomach stirring as if it wanted to throw up from the horror of the sight before her. Gazing back and forth at the two cats, she bit her lip anxiously without noticing how aggressively she was doing it, whilst trying to keep a focus on staying calm and collected so as not to distress anyone in the den any more than they already were. She needed to keep her cool right now, for them.

Speckleflower quietly looked over her kits, unsure of what to really feel. Should she be more angry than afraid? If so should she direct that angry at the warrior that had tried to save her kits or her kits crying into her fur? She was left unknowing how to feel. All she was really left to do was to hunker herself down close to her kits and comfort them. The swirling combination of emotions left her unable to do much until either Ebonykit or Cinderkit we willing to explain to her why they’d chosen to do what they’d done. She managed to nod her head as Shadowpaw laid the cobwebs down beside her. Uncurling herself from around her kits she carefully picked up the cobwebs with her free paw and began to put the cobwebs apart. Afterwards she began to place them on the worst of the wounds. “Stay still.” She mewed firmly to Cinderkit as he began to squirm away while she was trying to put cobwebs over the bite mark on his back. She did her best to cover up the worst of Ebonykit’s wounds next paying the most attention to the wound on his chest.
Longshadow had to get off of his paws, reluctantly sitting back on his haunches to try and give his now hurt leg a rest. Propping it up he was silent along with the two she-cats. There wasn’t anything for him to say even after Shadowpaw came back. While he was in pain it was mostly due to causing further damage to old wounds than anything the younger fox had done. He frowned as he watched Tawnyface hiss at the apprentice to give all of the cobwebs to the kits.
“He’s right Tawnyface. You need the cobwebs.” He snapped firmly looking her dead in the eyes. If she got to be angry with him for not staying in camp than he was going to put his paw down about neglecting her own clear injuries. Now, was not the time to refuse help. It was very clear to the older warrior that Shadowpaw had gone out looking for cobwebs more for her than for the kits. The kits were hurt but, they weren’t bleeding as badly as Tawnyface clearly was.
Wildberry had to stop herself from hissing with frustration as the two other apprentices appeared besides the Riverclan apprentice. Neither of them were prepared for what they came across. She sat up when she heard Leafpaw’s audible gasp that seemed to briefly rouse Dogclaw out of his rest. The more pressing issue was Applepaw himself though. Redsky’s kit had laid himself right beside his mother squeezing in between her and the medicine store. Hissing quietly to herself in frustration she nudged the kit aside, even as he was stubbornly planted in his spot. The grief stricken Applepaw could be heard quietly whimpering to himself before pressing his nose into Redsky’s fur. She didn’t have much choice but to let him stay there as she worked to try to clear up the infection that she was having poor luck with so far. Her tail lashed from side to side, that and her ruffled fur along her spine showed her growing frustration with..well just about everything.

Tawnyface gave a quiet hiss as Longshadow snapped at her about accepting the cobwebs, turning and glaring at him as she did so. He didn’t know how weird it was for her to accept help from Shadowpaw of all of the cats alive, and she felt offput even more that he had said nothing taunting nor rude like she would of if the situation was reversed.
Then, she reared back a little as, to her great surprise, Shadowpaw plastered a group of cobwebs on her wound without her consent. She gave an angry hiss and a shout of “fox-dung!” which caused the little apprentice to cower back while his ears flattened and his eyes widened in fear. Tawnyface’s wound stung greatly as he had been pressing the cobweb to it and she was equal parts angry at what he had done, and hurting from the wound. She glared down at him as he cowered submissively at her paws, holding a little more cobweb as he stared up at her wide eyed.
A small tinge of regret stabbed at her heart as she saw something similar to his reaction that she had seen many times in Shadowclan. With another much quieter and less aggressive hiss, knowing Longshadow was watching, she stepped over towards him, looking down at him with an intimidating glare still, like a dog to a kitten, and she finally gave him the slightest reprieve. “Be more gentle, runt.”
Leafpaw felt the tense aura all about the den and as she gazed at Applepaw, she knew the apprentice would be at his mother’s side from now on. Turning her gaze to Wildberry she could see the increasing tension and frustration in the medicine cat’s...well, everything. She could tell that she had had a very long day. Tapping Mousepaw’s pelt with her tail, she quietly murmured “let’s give them space” at him before beginning to step back and out of the den.
