Glass Crowns
Backstory
Long ago, a small group of cats who were fleeing their home arrived at a giant oasis in the middle of a desert. The group grew rapidly and after generations, the group was large and content, yet had no real leadership or structure. Then a stranger came into their midst, her name lost to the sands of time. She had fled from a land where shecats were horribly mistreated and sought out refuge with the group. Unknowing to the other cats, however, she was slowly manipulating them into a nation ruled by her alone, and the final tipping point came with a lightning storm when a streak of electricity scorched the earth, melting the sand and turning it into a molten liquid, which cooled quickly and created a ring of glass with drip-like fanning around one edge. The shecat padded up to the scorched sand once the storm ended and placed the glass crown upon her head, claiming that this crown was a gift from the skies, a token from above gifted to her as a symbol of authority and leadership. With this, she had finally taken full control of the group, and many years and generations later, a hierarchy had been established, and the newly made empire had grown into a strong force that even the mighty coyotes feared, and the group became known as The order of the Dunes.
Miscellaneous Information
The camp is built out of a hardened stone made of sand and clay from the banks of the oasis. The Lord’s den is on a small, paw-made islet in the center of the oasis and can only be reached by swimming. The Heir’s den is beside that of the Lord’s.
The Order Of The Dunes, or just The Order, have a deep hatred of outsiders, and the Lords do not tolerate any forms of disrespect.
Males are treated with scorn and it is not uncommon for Fathers to present their male kits to higher-ranking females for their shekits to take as mates in future.

The ranks are listed from highest rank to lowest rank.
Lord (female only)
The lord is the leader. She has full control and is more of a monarch than a leader. The lord may retire to the rank of elder, however, this is a rare event. The lord’s Heir is not a descendant of the lord, but simply a shekit was chosen by the Lord. the lord is loved and feared by all who see her.
Heir (female only)
The Heir, as stated above is a shekit selected and raised by the lord. The heir takes over at the Lord’s death/retirement, and is surprising, often descended from a pair of servants. The heir never meets their parents and is taken from their mother’s side as soon as they’re old enough to eat prey.
Hunter General (Female only)
The Hunter General is the highest ranking Female other than the Lord and their heir. The hunter general is selected by the Lord and only changes at the death of the current general. Hunter generals are often forced to become mates with the Sentinel general and their kits rank hunter or sentinel according to their respective genders.
Sentinel General (Male only)
The Sentinel General is the highest ranking Male and is often the eldest son of the lord. The Sentinel general changes at the death of the current general, where the next eldest son of the lord takes over. Sentinel generals are often forced to become mates with the Hunter general and their kits rank hunter or sentinel according to their respective genders.
Elders, kits, and Queens
The elders, kits, and queens all share a huge den. Elders to one side, kits, and queens to the other. Kits leave the nursery at 5 Moons and a queen enters the nursery when they are due to kit in one moon, however, they can enter the nursery earlier if they so wish. Healers and servants never become elders and continue their jobs until death.
Hunters (females only)
Hunters are the female majority. They are skilled in the art of hunting, but also know basic traps like the pitfall trap. Hunters are able to issue orders to Sentinels at will, often bringing males as bodyguards on the hunt. Valued for intelligence and wit, hunters are often given servants.
Victors
Victors are the survivors of vicious arena battles against coyotes and were often previously either loners, Sentinels, youths, or servants that did and or said something considered unforgivable by the lord. The victor is treated well, often pampered by servants and Youths. Every year in the victor's feast, Victors are forced to re-enter the arena. If they survive five battles, they are free and considered as loners.
Sentinels (males only)
Sentinels are the highest male rank, second only to sentinel General. Sentinels are primarily masculine and are considered as guards. The lord may send out patrols of sentinels out to go capture more coyotes for the arena. Considered as brawny and idiotic by females, Sentinels will often suck up to Hunters to attempt to become mates with them. There are no recorded cases of a Sentinel owning a servant.
Youths (5 moons - 15 moons)
Youths are kits who are training to become hunters or Sentinels correspondent to their gender.Youths normally have two or three different trainers so they learn a few different methods and opinions. Youths are often instructed to care for the kits queens and elders. Their training lasts ten moons with an assessment every second moon.
Healers (males only)
Healers are often Male kits that reached 5 moons and still lacked a masculine build. These Youths were shipped off to the Healer’s Hollow to train in the art of healing. They learn medical treatments, edible plants, and poisons. They gather most of their herbs in the herb creeks. They sleep all together in one big den with their own individual herb stores. There are normally around 3 or 4 healers at least.
Servants (males, former loners, or cats with deformities/disabilities)
Servants are given to high ranking cats as kits as a gift to earn the cat’s favor. Servants must obey their master and are often expected not to speak. Servants cannot eat, drink, or take mates without their master’s permission. Servants are to sleep outside their master’s den and their only purpose is to make their master happy. The lord has the most servants.
Prisoners (former loners)
Prisoners are primarily loners taken as prisoners. They are often sent to the arena. However, instead of being forced to automatically become a victor, are given the choice between the annual fights of a victor, or the safe, yet low ranking title of servant.
Loners
Free from the confines and laws of The Order of the Dunes, Loners are settled near the southern river, and are extremely fond of a location known as the oasis archipelago, rumored to bee a weeks travel to a huge oasis five times the size of The Order’s wall, with islands scattered all over the pristine waters. However, this place is considered a myth.

Description: Nylah is a rather small cat with long, fluffy fur. Her fur is a reddish brown color with small and faint brown stripes atop her head. The lower part of her maw and chest are splashed with a white bib. Her eyes are a pale green color.
Personality: Nylah is a fairly chatty cat. She enjoys getting to know the other cats in The Order, even if she is told not to mingle with them that much. With observant eyes, she takes the safety of The Order seriously. Most would say that she would rather be respected in your typical ways than by fear. She is a very quick learner and usually excels in her lessons. However, secretly she fears failure. She fears what the lord will do if she messed up, so she is always pushing herself to do her best. This can leave her to be indecisive at times, unable to choose which way is better to impress. She craves the approval of the lord.
Skills: Nylah is a very quick learner, rational thinker, and observant.
Flaws: Nylah is not very skilled at hunting, can be indecisive, and fears failure.

Description: Copper is skinny and long-legged. She is a silver spotted tabby with a white muzzle. Her eyes are a shade of brown for which she got her name.
Personality: She is kinder than she should be as a hunter, but good at fitting in. Copper tries to make herself unnoticeable, she is very clever when it comes to this. She believes that the subjects of The Order, should be more free, but never voices her opinions.
Skills: She is amazing at fitting in, making herself just noticeable enough to get a good rank. Copper is also very clever, she can easily trick cats into doing something for her, but she doesn't like to use that skill very often. Copper is good at hunting and is very fast, due to her build.
Flaws: Copper can be clumsy at times, but she is getting that under control. She is too kind as a hunter. Copper is not very good at fighting.

Backstory: Copper was born to servants, but had shown great potential when she was very young and became a hunter. To everyone, she is just a normal, everyday hunter. Backstory: Cicada was raised on the banks of the South River where he met his future mate, Alpaca. Cicada and alpaca had only one kit, they named her Sora and cared for her as best they could. hiding in the sand to keep themselves safe from the order. one day, however, he and his mate were spotted by sentinels whilst fishing with Sorah. Cicada was captured, and sorah got away but he has no idea what happened to his mate Alpaca. he's won two battles in the Victor's feast and will continue to fight for his freedom until he can see his daughter again.

Personality: Viper is similar to her sister in some aspects of personality. She isn't afraid to speak her mind. This can oftentimes make her come off as rude or standoffish. She fears very few things, and would always put her sister before herself. Her sister is really the only cat she can seem to get along with. Although she doesn't purposefully attempt to drive others away, she seems to do exactly that.
Skills: Viper isn't afraid to speak her mind, is excellent at fighting, and has rather sharp eyes.
Flaws: Viper fears losing her sister, isn't afraid to speak her mind, and can be difficult to get along with.

Backstory: As her parents were esteemed members, she grew up close to the Lord's daughter Amethyst. They were best friends when they were young. As they began training, however, Amethyst's natural talent overshadowed Talon's decent skill, and her jealousy caused them to grow apart. They became bitter rivals, and once Amethyst was thrown into the arena, Talon's abilities were finally recognized and appreciated, giving her a love for attention. However, her reputation as a model Order cat will always be in the shadow of previous shining example, Amethyst, whose ultimate fate was that of vicious fights for survival.

Personality: She barely ever talks. When she does, it's to scold a cat, often which is undeserved. She never admits she is wrong. She doesn't admit help and wants to do everything herself. She usually manages to do it herself but when she doesn't she blames it on another cat. She can be very bratty but can also be loving sometimes. She always finds a way to get what she wants, sometimes it isn't a very nice way. She can be quite the flirt.
Skills: She is a skilled leaper, she can leap a long distance without trouble. She is one of the most intelligent cats you wll ever meet.
Flaws: She will sell herself to the highest bidder if there's something in it for her. She hates water and will push other cats into it to get it away from her.

Family: Her family is alive, but they live with the loners. She doesn't miss them, she thinks they were too controlling.

Description: Cricket is a pale cream color with darker, orange-ish stripes along his body. His chest, maw, and around his eyes are splashed with white. He has medium length fur and his eyes are a deep brown color. He is a munchkin cat, meaning his legs are very, very short.
Personality: Cricket is a very fearful cat. He is afraid of pretty much anything that moves and jumps at every little sound. Despite this, he can be a real sweetheart. The small cat is very caring and always looking after his fellow servants. He is often quiet, learning not to speak out of his place. With his short paws, he is often very clumsy. He is very much seen as a pushover.
Skills: Cricket is great at tracking, has excellent hearing, and is obedient.
Flaws: Cricket has very short legs, is often times clumsy, fears pretty much anything that moves, and is a pushover.

Family: Cherish was his mother. Thomas was his father. Both deceased.
Backstory: Cricket used to roam the unforgiving sandy desert with his mother. The two, at the time, was the only remaining family that they had. A predator eventually picked his mother off. Uncertain of where to go, the small cat continued his journey alone. Rumors of these perfect, open fields had been spread to him. Supposedly they lay just beyond the desert. His mother wanted her last living place to be these fields. Cricket decided to continue the journey and find these fields on behalf of his mother. However, he never made it much further into the desert. A small group of cats insisted that he was trespassing on territory of something called The Order. Unable to fight them off or outrun them, he agreed to obey and return to The Order with them. Upon arriving, he was deemed unfit for any position other than a servant.

Description: Nyati is a midnight black, well-built she-cat with amber eyes. She has no tail and a torn ear.
Personality: Nyati is an obedient servant who will always go by the rules. She suffers great pain when she lets her master down, and usually takes days to recover. Nyati puts her all into everything she does and make sure it’s perfect at all times. Nyati is usually cheerful on the outside, but deep down, she’d love to run away, as being a servant to the Order has made her depressed inside.
Skills: Nyati has great obedience and good strength, and can also work hard without tiring easily.
Flaws: Nyati will never stop something until she gets it exactly right, which can take a while. Nyati also takes quite a long time to recover when she lets her master down, and feels extremely depressed deep down, which can hinder her performance.

Family: Shujaa (foster father), real parents unknown
Backstory: Nyati was abandoned as a kit. A loner named Shujaa rescued her from the desert conditions, and raised her in an oasis, in which Nyati was taught about the harsh yet wonderful desert, including the Order. Nyati stayed in the oasis, even as an adult, but she enjoyed going out every now and then and exploring the wonders of the desert. Shujaa approved of this, and let her go out at her own will, though warned her to never stray close to the Order. Nyati suffered many injuries due to the predators of the desert, but stayed strong. At the age of five, Nyati left the oasis for the last time, although she never meant for it to be. While proceeding up a hill, the sand shifted and threw her down, straight into the Order’s territory. She landed next to an Order cat, who was promptly swallowed up by the shifting sand. The Order immediately concluded that Nyati was to blame for their loss, and she was taken prisoner. She won the coyote battle with her strength and wits and became a servant to the Order.

Backstory: Amethyst was born to Tempest, Lord of the Order of the Dunes. She showed great potential as a future Hunter General and was always polite and civil to important cats, able to persuade them (though she often found ways of subtly insulting them). Growing up in the Order, she learned about its harsh way of life but often snuck extra food to her servants. One day, she was caught feeding and caring for a loner and was immediately thrown into the arena. Despite this, she held her head high and deflected every jeer made by the Order. Everyone was shocked when their golden example of everything an Order cat should be showing up in the arena, as it had been a surprise.

Family: Her mother was seen by a sentinel patrol and killed in a fight. her father was taken, prisoner. Sorah doesn't know if her father lived, but she assumes he died.
Backstory: Sorah was born and raised on the banks of the south river. she and her family had learned to bury themselves in the sand to hide from patrols sent out by The Order. one day, her mother and father were fishing while she learned from them. a patrol of sentinels spotted her father and mother, but from their angle, they couldn't see Sorah from behind her parents. she and her parents, as usual, buried themselves, but the sentinels had already seen her parents and pulled them out of the sand to capture them. her mother actually killed a sentinel, but in retaliation the sentinels pinned her, threatening to kill her mother if her father didn't come with them. when her father was out of view, the sentinel killed her mother. then the rest of the patrol called the murderer back, one of the toms saying "hurry up Bronze, you don't want to be replaced do you?" 'Bronze' responded, "watch your mouth fool, I'm your superior and you know it". the voices faded away and Sorah buried her mother by the river, deep in the sandy clay.
