One thing I've noticed is that at least for a new gamer, younger/"mature" player, or someone with less than 'good/great' WASD gaming skills is that just 'surviving', ie, hunting, is very very difficult to the point of being frustrating. I've been a FPS player going back to the days of the original Wolfenstein and when I jumped in to 'assist' my wife (who I got this for), I was surprised at just how hard hunting even mice are in the beginning. You really need to have 3 or 4 levels in hunting to not have near perfect timing and luck to catch anything when it's not raining. (My game it started raining right away, my wife's it didn't)
If there was an option to adjust the difficulty setting so that certain essential features in the game (hunting for instance) made it easier (or harder), I think it would make for a great addition. As it is now, you've REALLY got to have good keyboard gamer skills to actually survive that first day or two, or have a gamer background and realize you NEED to level up that hunting skill ASAP if you want to survive.
My wife really enjoys the game but she found this part extremely frustrating. I've been playing FPS games for 25+ years (proficiently) and I find it frustrating. It might not be so bad (as difficult as it is) at level 1 Hunting if your hunger meter also didn't drop so quickly as well. It really doesn't give you an option to practice and become proficient. In her case, the keyboard coordination is a skill she hasn't practiced for years and years and of course some of us older gamers would enjoy the adventure without having to spend so much time brushing up on our twitch gaming skills.
Thanks for listening, we really enjoy the other aspects of the game so far.
