So, thought I'd start a thread for sharing useful... Well, tips and tricks. Anything that might be fun to try out or might help another's enjoyment of the game. Here's a couple of mine:
-There are some instances when time stops (festivals and inside buildings). Skills, however, still cooldown normally. While personally not my cup of tea, these locations can be used to grind out max friendship with a character for free in a single day, simply by using Kindly Purr, Nine Lives, and Tenacity, then waiting for the cooldowns. They even have no hunger depletion for even better results.
-The best places for XP are the mines and battles. Other than that, if you are also getting XP for a buddy, always let them doing the tasks (unless you don't want to risk them failing). If you pounce on something, you'll get 3 XP if you succeed and 0 if you fail. Your buddy, however, will get 1 XP on your success and 0 on your failure. If they pounce on something, they'll get 3 XP regardless, plus 1 more if they succeed. You, meanwhile, will still get 3 XP if they succeed and 0 if they fail. The same thing occur with picking herbs. You get 2 XP regardless on who picked it, but buddies will get less (1 instead if 2) if you picked it (All the above are not including bonuses or difficulty, by the by).
-If you need help fighting, something you can do is charge up an attack, (backing away as you do if need be) then lunge at your target. Once you hit, immediately dodge, preferably away from what you just hit. Charged attacks push enemies back with you and dodging causes you to start running, so you should be able to reposition safely and do it again. This strategy lets you take on multiple enemies at once! Just remember voidling's ranged/charge attacks. And that this doesn't protect you if the enemy is already attacking (maybe because they were trying to hit someone else as you attacked). Also, bear in mind that the game can occasionally do an unintended spooky and not have the enemy be pushed with your charged attack. If that happens, try to dodge out of danger and hope for the best.

Some other tips/tricks, or things just good to know:
Using the Hunters Gamble skill on a hostile prey will either instantly kill it and give you two items if you succeed, or make it disappear if you fail - a win either way.
XP gain changes based on difficulty.
Catnip is the most expensive plant to sell, followed by Foxglove (planting and upgrading gardens early is recommended!)
Murks (lower mines) don't damage you on contact. Once they pop-up and use their ability, you can safely go up to them and murder them.
Festivals are the best place to use Kindly Purr/Tenacity as time is stopped (as mentioned above), and there's a bunch of cats grouped together, thus making the ability most effective.
Mushroom Salad satisfies all your hunger despite being listed as only satisfying 5 bars. Probably a bug so expect this to be fixed later. Makes it very worth making at the moment, though.
Dying completely heals you hunger and HP, so storing your items and intentionally dying could be a good strategy.
Not really a tip/trick, but it's helpful to remember that tier 3 plants can be obtained from a Kitten with the ability to +1 the level of the plant. This is important for obtaining battle potion and elixir of healing.
That's all for now.

Ah! Not a tip or trick, but I felt it would be useful to know: What the Nine Lives skill actually does. When activated, it spawns a number of sprites around you (the number depends on how much you've upgraded the skill). These sprites function as one-time-use buddies, one of which seem to act every couple of seconds. However, they do seem to have a priority towards what they will do when they act (I think I have the order right, but no guarantees):
1. Attack a nearby enemy for 1 damage 2. Break a nearby rock 3. Pick a nearby herb/mushroom 4. Pick up a nearby item 5. Raise friendship with a nearby colony cat (once per cat per use of Nine Lives, excluding your current buddy) 6. Randomly spawn mews at a patch of ground (they usually choose to do so at some grass, but can do so even if there is no grass) 7. Fade from existence, doing nothing (only if they cannot do anything else when they go to act)

I've played the game for awhile and this is the first time I've heard of mushroom salad? Where do you get it?

You can make it at an Herbalist's Workbench (which you can buy from Ember) using one White Button, one Portobello, and one Morel. The workbench also lets you make Elixirs of Healing and Battle Potions.

Nine lives also can be used as plant food if you stand in the garden when you activate it.

Once you donate Curios, getting repeats becomes slightly annoying. Luckily, they sell for a fair amount of news, and EVERY kitten + glimmer *loves* them, so it makes for a great gift!

Wait- what's a curios? HAS THERE BEEN A NEW UPDATE? There has. You can now find (and buy and make) unidentified curios that can be identified and displayed in Glimmer's Museum. Achievement now work and you no longer start with all the colony residents. You now get to recruit them.

I've found a great way to have endless high-level herbs. Step 1: Go out into the wild and collect as much of your needed herb as you can find. Step 2: If you haven't already, recruit Alabaster. Step 3: Use the seed maker to make seeds for your needed herb. (If u don't own the recipe, you can buy it from Alabaster) Step 4: Get as much plant food as you can and plant your seeds. Step 5: Go to the garden every day and use the plant food for your seeds. Step 6: When the herbs are ready to harvest, put all but one into storage. Use the one that you didn't put into storage to make more seeds and repeat steps 4-6 until you have enough of the herb.

Nice! I'm not much for gardening in the game, but I make Goldenseal a lot, lol. I'll try that next time!

Wild Slash is the best combat skill. Its base damage is higher than the max charge attack, and the cooldown is so short! As you level it up the damage output increases. I use Wild Slash in battles mostly, and if I’m fighting I always pay close attention to its cooldown so I can continue using it. Botany is an amazing skill for exploration. You see where all the plants are and can easily get them. It’s useful for gaining influence in territories and making some quick mews! The cooldown is super short. The Return Home skill is unnecessary because it has a long cooldown and if you save the game, exit, and open it again, you get the same results. The only thing is if you do the save-exit method your buddy will return to their normal schedule. The mines suck. Levels 1-25 are easy and then it gets annoying. Make sure to buddy up with Glimmer or a kitten and bring plenty of food and healing items. Last thing: on day 1, find every power paw. You can look on the wiki and make a list of where they all are. This allows you to become very strong and fight battles easily. Some power paws are unavailable at that time but most are accessible whenever. Start in the east and end at the festival plaza.

Here's a tip on getting tons of legendary prey. First thing you want to do is get the hunting compendium construction project completed, this makes legendary prey in your territory more common.
Second thing you'll want to do is get all of the lucky power paws, this part can be difficult. There are 3 of the lucky power paws, one can be bought at the bought at the festival shop for 18 festival tokens. The other two can be found at level 100 of the second and third mines. I know, I know, but no one said this was going to be easy!
The final step is getting Charlotte to the buddy max level, this can be done very easily by exactly 32 training manuals witch Ember starts to sell at year 2. Be warned though, if you decide to buy all the training manuals it would take 1,760 mews, so probably not the best method of training if you're on a budget. The reason Charlotte is the best pick for hunting legendary prey is because of here traits, meaning you could also use one of your kits if you give them the same traits she has. She has keen as her active trait and lucky as her passive trait. the keen trait makes it where your buddy sometimes catches 2 prey instead of one, a lot like the hunter's gamble skill but the prey doesn't disappear if missed, and the lucky trait makes legendary bugs and prey spawn more often. If your buddy is level 10 they will most likely catch any prey they target, but its not guaranteed so beware.
It's also more optimal to hunt for legendary's in specific places because more types of legendary's spawn in different areas. Ex. Beach East and Beachside Woods both spawn 4 different types of legendary's.

My favorite place to hunt is the grim clearing. I can't even count the number of crows, weasels, stoats, rats, snakes, pigeons, mice, and squirrels I've caught there. I once caught 4 rats there! And like 3 weasels!!!

If you're going to run through an area to get somewhere else press shift first to make sure you don't scare away legendaries. Also you don't have to hold shift to sneak, just press it and press it again to stop sneaking. Red roses can be found at the Old Farm regularly. Don't buy those from Ember!! There is an Ocean East and Ocean West south of Beach East and West but they don't lead anywhere so don't drown your cat pls.
