I've played the game but don't recall the answer to this. I don't actually think I completed this quest. If that's true, then the game is still playable without finishing it. It might depend on which quest path you take (good vs bad).
EDIT: Looked at the game's forums. The answer isn't in Act I. It probably won't be known until Act II or III (future updates of the game, no concrete release date).

Yeah the game isn't even past the first act. So you can't do much since you're still in the sorta intro part of the game where you get started. Spidershade's murder story is just getting started in that case as well.
