Shadowpaw quietly murmured his agreement, a smile twitching slightly onto his face as she brushed up against his pelt. He then matched the pace of her brisk trot, looking for himself to see the falling sun. The day was already past, and soon he would have to try to get some sleep.
This cat seemed carefree and nonchalant, and wasn't even monitoring her surroundings that much as she traveled along. She only seemed to notice the approaching cats when they had almost called out to her to stop. Once they had, she narrowed her eyebrows and gave a loud hiss. "By my mother's left paw, is that how you greet a guest?!? How incredibly rude!" She looked heavily offended as she stopped padding along to take the two cats in.
Her head tilted slightly to the side. All in a moment, her offense seemed to change to shock. "By my father's broken jaw, you two look positively starved! When did you last eat?"

Leading the way back to camp she could already feel her paws getting heavier and heavier. Her long legs ate up ground as they made their way back to camp. It seems like more troubling times were on the horizon. Cats going missing and cats that used to be their friends, well Amberberry had never been her friend at least, but he was joining with enemies now. Flattening her ears she turned her head to look at Shadowpaw. There was a lot that needed to be discussed.
She wondered if she should try to sit down and convince Ravenfang as to why she should be his mentor again. Shaking her head she turned her attention back to the moors sprawling out in front of them. Picking up her pace she made her way towards camp as quickly as her paws would carry her.
Otterfur stopped, utterly flabbergasted by the idea that she of all cats thought she was a guest. A kittypet! Narrowing his eyes he lashed his tail from side to side. “Why would you be a guest of Windclan. Who invited you here?’ Otterfur demanded ignoring her concern over when they’d last eaten. Mostly because justifying that with an answer would be counter productive and make them look weaker. They didn’t eat half as much as the kittypet clearly did.
Wrenflight padded up beside her deputy blinking at the strange she-cat. Her pity made the she-cat’s pelt ruffle. “We don’t all have twolegs to take care of us.” She muttered to herself looking the kittypet up and down. Although she did take a slight self conscious look down at her sides. Her ribs were clearly visible and her coat rather dull recently. She brushed her tail to her side, as if to cover up the fact that she’d started looking like she was slowly starving to death. She wasn’t it was just...wait why was she letting kittypet get to her like this?

It didn't seem like she was noticing this, but Hazelrunner was slowly drawing ahead of him on her incredibly fast paws, gradually and slowly leaving behind his slightly shorter and less running-attuned legs. He didn't say anything though as she seemed to be moving with an urgency that he felt discouraged from interrupting, as if to do so might be the catalyst for the catpocalypse or something.
Once they drew closer to camp, he finally gave a quiet call ahead of him, trying to draw her attention. They weren't too far from camp, so it shouldn't make too much of a difference in time, right? "Are...are you talking to Ravenfang right away?" He didn't know she was thinking about discussing his mentorship with the deputy, but it was a coincidental moment to bring it up.
Of course, that was almost always on his mind. Whether he had done something that so seriously swayed Ravenfang's opinion. It had been a shock to him to have a cat who had been so initially sympathetic and caring do that...especially the cat who revolted because of him.
The kittypet gave an indignant harrumph as the tom-cat immediately dismissed her comment about the food and simply denied that she was a guest here. "How incredibly extra rude. Is this how all of you cravens act? I didn't think many of the rumors about you to be true, but..." Truthfully, it didn't come out as meant to be an insult, more of an insight within her own mind said aloud.
"Oh, so wait..." She gasped. "I am in Windclan! Great. I was a bit lost..." She murmured to herself almost inaudibly. "Do you know where, uhh..." She trailed off. Didn't Spiky say that he hadn't mentioned me to his clan yet? Maybe I shouldn't mention him, then... "Uhh..." She stumbled, trying to decide what to say.
She looked to Wrenflight, both to break the awkwardness of her own silence and to take in the she-cat's self-consciousness. "Aww, honey, don't tangle yourself in a spider's cobwebs," she gave a strange, yet gentle coo. "He's not home right now, but I can get you both food once Alex is home." The offer was sudden and diverted the conversation from Otterfur's question. "He always gives the strays food." She said it simply, not meaning harm yet not realizing how poorly it could be taken by a prideful cat.

The she-cat had been so intent on getting where she was going she had no idea she was accidentally leaving Shadowpaw behind. It was only when the quiet call came from behind her that she even stopped to notice that he was not right beside her any longer. She turned herself around to trot back to Shadowpaw’s side. She would have probably offered an apology for hurrying along if it weren’t for his question about talking to Ravenfang right away. “Yes if I can. There’s a lot I need to talk with him about. If he’s not in camp I might have to go see Rainstar.” She mewed softly with a sigh.
She needed to talk to him about Amberberry, about Tawnyface, and maybe about Shadowpaw. She wondered if she could convince Ravenfang to change his mind or at least get him to share what made him want to change Shadowpaw’s mentor so suddenly. Why was it wrong for her and Shadowpaw to be friends and train together. “I just hope he’ll listen.” Her voice was quiet, as if she hadn’t meant to say the last bit out loud. Slowly she started to venture back towards camp now, keeping a more consistent pace now.
“We are not cravens. We are cats trying to defend our homes from cats thinking they can prance along wherever they please.” The tom hissed with still narrowed eyes. There was a lot of hidden anger that had very little to do with the kittypet. The deputy had lost his home because of cats who thought they deserved everything. This kittypet clearly wasn’t as malicious as Shadowclan. But, her carelessness was already rubbing the tom the wrong way. Not to mention she became rather dodgy with his questions about just who invited her to come to the clans.
Sensing the anger seething off the tom she quickly padded up to stand in front of him and serve as physical buffer. She took in a deep breath at the she-cat’s strange cooing like she was a kitten who needed comforting. Still the warrior was keeping her head better than the deputy was currently. “I appreciate the..generous offer. But, the set of rules we live by doesn’t allow us to take any food from twolegs.” Wrenflight mewed with a somewhat forced smile to try and play nice. She had to keep reminding herself that this cat was just a kittypet, all be it a rude one.
Otterfur’s claws came out as she called them strays of all things. First cravens and now strays. All insults that were enough to have him loose any composure he might have had. “Who in the name of-“ He was quickly cut off by Wrenflight coming between the two and seemingly taking over the conversation. Narrowing his eyes he slid his claws back and took several paw steps back before he did something to this obnoxious fluff-ball.
Wrenflight only slightly turned her head to look at the deputy as he had a bit of an outburst. Starclan please give her patience. Turning back to the she-cat she cleared her throat to distract from Otterfur. This she-cat clearly knew some cat from the clans and Wrenflight was curious to learn just who it was. “I’m sorry for our rudeness before we aren’t used to getting visitors.” She dipped her head slightly, flicking her tail at Otterfur as a sign for him to stay out of this. “I’m Wrenflight and this is Otterfur.” She mewed nodding briefly to her still clearly stewing companion before turning back to the she-cat with a good natured smile.

Shadowpaw gave a quick nod then continued moving towards the camp with her. "Do you want me to come with you? I could help you," he quietly murmured, a hint of eagerness in his voice. There was an eagerness he had to please her, and it wasn't usually apparent, but in this moment it was.
The kittypet tilted her head even more. "You aren't allowed to take food from us? Since when?!?" Spiky had been eating plenty of her food! Since he got wounded, he had needed extra sustenance. Was he breaking this rule over and over again?
She went a little pale thinking about this, but hpshe quickly silenced herself. If he broke a rule, he couldn't give Spiky away. "Well, um...thats okay. My name is Princess. A royal cat, of course," she winked at Wrenflight. "I apologize for trespassing on your land," she murmured quietly, then giving a small sigh. "But I get so bored, you know? When Alex is gone, I just...have no one to chat with."

Hazelrunner looked back at Shadowpaw with a tiny bit of surprise present. He almost sounded eager at the idea of helping her convince Ravenfang. It might not be wise to take the young tom with her, but looking at the hopefulness in his eyes she sighed finding herself unable to tell him no. “I’d like that.” She mewed softly with a nod of her head. She wondered just why he was so excited to help her, maybe it was just he wanted to see her happy. There was no telling really. Still, maybe it would be better if Ravenfang talked to both of them at the same time. That was her hope at least. She sighed when camp came into view, slowly padding towards the entrance, her tail twitching behind her.
Wrenflight blinked at her sudden surprise at the rules of the warrior code. “For a while now. But, there have been a few expectations here and there.” Wrenflight tried her best to clarify that it was a rule, but it also was one that got bent occasionally. Mostly doing so because it was clear that whoever she was going to see was probably breaking this rule. “My leader Shadestar spent a few moons with twolegs.” She didn’t notice Otterfur slump behind her a little at the mentions of Shadestar, the former Riverclan leader.
She blinked in confusion as the kittypet, said she was royalty whatever that meant...Shaking her head she decided that was the wrong thing to dwell on and just smiled like she had any idea what she was saying. Sighing a bit she nodded her head in understanding. She knew the feeling of being alone and restless. “It’s alright. You didn’t mean any harm.” The Riverclan cat sat herself down despite Otterfur still glaring a hole into the back of her head. She smiled and glanced back over her shoulder at Otterfur. “It is dangerous walking into strange cats’ territory...but if you want someone to talk to the grumpy tom over there can go back to camp.” She offered with a slight shrug. She was still curious where Princess had come from exactly and where she had been trying to go.

Shadowpaw seemed to light up just a little bit from his dreary mood as she voiced what he took to be as approval, though it was somewhat different in reality. He said something that made her happy! He must of done something right. He followed along with her with just a little more eagerness to his step as she lead the way back towards the camp.
Princess perked her ears as Wrenflight described Shadestsrm whoever that was. "Well, then he must accept that sometimes survival outweighs a rule! Certainly you can get some food, right?" She gave one weary sigh.
She realized if she was taken to the camp, she might run into Spiky. "Yes!" She blurted. "Take me there!" She didn't seem to understand that she wasn't exactly invited to go along with. "Of course, I expect an actually proper greeting," she giggled a little bit.

She watched Shadowpaw smiling as she saw just how happy he’d become, but she was also hoping that she had made the right decision. Leading the way back towards camp she ducked through the entrance to peer inside camp. Everything was mostly quiet. It seems like every cat was still pretty sullen around camp. Glancing at Shadowpaw she offered a slight purr if he was happy she was happy. Hazelrunner emerged through the entrance to look around camp and find Ravenfang. Hopefully they could find him without too much trouble.
Both cats jumped when she blurted out about going back to camp with them. Otterfur silently narrowed his eyes at Wrenflight who only offered a somewhat bashful smile in return. “Fine, Wrenflight you can explain to Ravenfang why we have a kittypet with us.” He hissed lashing his tail.
Wrenflight rolled her eyes with a nonchalant shrug. “Maybe he’ll be so busy avoiding me he won’t even notice another cat.” She muttered softly, barely loud enough to hear. Blinking briefly she shook her head before turning around to Princess. “Um alright we’ll see if we can brush up on our manners for a better second impression.” She-cat laughed softly as Otterfur already started back towards camp. Wrenflight motioned for Princess to follow moving slower than Otterfur who was clearly trying to get to camp as fast as possible now.

(DAAAMMMNNN that rightfully earned burn on Ravenfang is gonna need more than just some cobwebs)
A surprised look came to his face as they entered camp, and the she-cat took the time to turn towards him and emit a purr. He did not know exactly what that meant, but it seemed like a good sign to him. He casted back a small smile towards her, hoping that she wasn't feeling doubtful about him helping her with this. He had smelled the Windclan cat! He could help, for sure! He could be useful.
Ravenfang was not to be found in the camp.
"Excellent!" She squealed with delight. "Let's gooo!!" She began, quite oddly, skipping by the warriors as they turned to head towards the camp. She seemed strangely delighted while also still extremely carefree. She was a very weird cat from the eyes of others.
An uncomfortably long time had passed in the minds of the Thunderclan cats for certain, but Ravenfang was finally returning. He held one piece of prey in his mouth, one over his neck and one cupped against his chest in a paw as he awkwardly leaped forward into camp. No wonder it took so long, he was moving so inefficiently.
He moved first towards the medicine cat's den, dropping one piece awkwardly at Wildberry's paws, and seeming to almost collapse down at them. But he managed to contain his exhaustion, pulling himself to his paws. He was panting heavily, clearly exhausted almost entirely from whatever hunting he had done, as well as the trip back. "Three...more...will...be...back..." He was feeling the lack of prey at this moment; he had been losing weight as well as muscle. His endurance wasn't what it used to be. Certainly it was the food, and not the age! Yeah! For sure.

(Hehe Wrenflight might be just a little bitter still, just a little ^^’)
Hazelrunner had come in such resolve to come talk to Ravenfang. So, when she padded around camp with no sign of Ravenfang she sighed softly to herself shaking her head. “Rabbitdung, it looks like he’s still in Thunderclan.” She mewed with a shake of her head. She looked this way and that blinking after a moment. She didn’t see any cats that really looked like they were taking charge. Was there anyone in charge of camp while the deputy was even gone. “We have to tell someone about the scents, any ideas?” She mewed softly as she looked towards the medicine cat den and then the elder den. It was either Longshadow or Rainstar they could go talk to, but it looked like talking about Shadowpaw’s mentor was going to have to wait for now.
Wrenflight was briskly pacing towards camp, but faltered when she caught sight of Princess doing, well she wasn’t quite sure. “What exactly are you doing?” The warrior asked with clear confusion. Maybe it was kittypet thing, it just looked rather odd to the wild cat though. Otterfur could be heard scoffing and rolling his eyes as they went. Wrenflight frowned snapping her head towards him.
Wildberry was just outside the medicine cat den with Aspenpaw, who was in better spirits now that Sprucestar had seemed better. There were several piles of plants split between them. The medicine cat was motioning to one of the herbs when she heard the rather odd noise at the entrance. She turned to watch the exhausted deputy deposit a rabbit at her paws. While he was wobbling to keep his balance Aspenpaw tried to help and moved to pull the remaining of pieces of prey off of the deputy to help balance him out.
Wildberry sighed softly and shook her head. “You always do over do yourself. Now sit down and wait. The rest of the prey can wait.” It was more of an order than a request. Clearing her throat she looked to Aspenpaw as he started to drag one of the rabbits into the medicine cat den for his father. He froze when he felt Wildberry’s gaze on him. Wincing he waited for her to snap at him, but she instead motioned to the pile of herbs. “What would you give him to help him recover strength?” She quizzed to which he hesitantly motioned to the small juniper berries. Nodding she rolled a couple berries to Ravenfang. “Eat these.” She mewed nudging them towards the tom.

(I gotta like, make Ravenfang address that pretty soon lol ^^')
Shadowpaw shrunk slightly as Hazelrunner made the realization that Ravenfang was not in the camp. Well, there went any confidence he had about helping her with this. Now, who knew how long the deputy would be gone. His ears drooped and he looked to the den, where the only cat he could think of rested.
It was almost like she knew what was happening. Rainstar was standing in a somewhat proud manner in front of the elder's den. Her eyes were on the two cats who had entered, particularly on Shadowpaw. They held something of softness within them, and when she saw the apprentice deflate, she bit her lip, glancing towards Hazelrunner. Certainly there was something going on. She seemed ready to help.
The kittypet turned to Wrenflight. "Just skipping!" She delightfully exclaimed. "You know, it may be cold, but that doesn't mean a cat can't have fun! My paws long to leave my den, and prounce about some open land!" She emitted a few giggles and continued on, not explaining the perplexing statement much more.
There was a moment of hesitance from the deputy, and he shook his head. "Have...to...help..." He spun around, beginning to leave the den. All he had felt this last moon was helplessness-- inability to lead, inability to help, inability to....
He was beginning to feel useless in the Windclan camp. He was failing to lead this clan. He couldn't keep his cool. He hurt Leafpaw. This prey...he could help Thunderclan right now, and as a result, maybe help band them together. If he could get this prey and feed Thunderclan and talk with Sprucestar they could form an alliance against Shadowclan and after that they could surely-
His legs gave way under him as his fighting against the exhaustion took its toll in this moment. He needed to take the herbs to strengthen himself, but he tried pushing himself further. He tried pushing himself up, but it was a struggle. He thought about the sleep he had been getting the last quarter-moon; only a few hours, almost every night. He thought of the stress he had been going through. Leading the camp. Guiding his daughter. The hard choices. He was failing.
In the entrance of the medicine cat's den, in sight of the whole of Thunderclan, Ravenfang began sobbing.

(It’s all good, he’d got a lot of his issues to work through)
Hazelrunner had the wind knocked out of her own sails as she looked around camp. She caught Rainstar watching them from in front of the elder’s den. They needed help and Rainstar seemed the only cat they could really turn to now. She still remembered when Rainstar had stood up on High Rock and proclaimed that Shadowpaw was not one of them. Hazelrunner hadn’t really talked with her sense then. It looked like she couldn’t avoid it. “Let’s go talk to Rainstar.” She mewed softly to the apprentince.
After a moment she slowly padded across camp towards Rainstar. The young warrior wasn’t really sure how to react to talking to Rainstar after so long. Was her leader holding a grudge? Should she hold a grudge? She hoped the answer to both those questions was no. “Rainstar, can we talk to you? We really need help.” The young she-cat slowly mewed as they stepped closer to the she-cat with her posture somewhat stiff as she moved closer.
“Skipping?” She questioned uncertainly as she watched the random spasm of the kittypet’s legs. She seemed to be having fun doing it. “I guess I get it. I’m not sure I like all this open space though.” Flicking her tail she watched the kittypet. She watched her until the Windclan camp was visible in the distance. Wrenflight motioned to it before glancing towards the kittypet. “That’s our camp.” She mewed softly with a slight smile.
Wildberry frowned when he turned away to leave and try to push himself that much further past his limits. “Ravenfang don’t do this.” Wildberry mewed firmly, before he went crashing down to the ground just outside the den. She’d been watching him push himself too far and now it was all catching up with him. Quickly padding towards him she was taken aback as he devolved into a crying mess. She padded over to his side flattening her ears as she watched him cry.
”It will be alright. Please Ravenfang believe me. It will be alright.” The medicine cat mewed softly, in a rare moment of tenderness she crouched down beside the tom. Aspenpaw awkwardly stood unsure of what to do flattening his ears as he watched as the Windclan deputy just kept crying.
There was a loud bit of shuffling from the medicine cat den as the large tom slowly stepped out of the nest and over to where the comotion was happening. He looked in momentary bewilderment at Ravenfang on the ground and then at all the cats coming out of their den to see what was the matter. With a soft cough he sat down at watched the tom. “She’s right you know....my clan will survive because of you.” He mewed somewhat stiffly, trying to help, but he was far from a cat who was good at giving comforting words, at least when other cats were watching that is.

Shadowpaw's ears flattened once again and concern filled him as she directed Shadowpaw towards the elder's den wwhere Rainstar was currently standing in anticipation. her proclamation was wide and bright within his mind, and he appraoched with a hanging dread and fear that entered him any time he neared her or she neared him.
As they approached, Rainstar seemed compeltely aware of his state, taking it in with complete accuracy and understanding exactly how he was feeling. She had a complete read on him, and he had absolutely none on her. It was a power dynamic he was completely acclimated to, yet with a cat he barely knew at all.
"Talk to me," Rainstar's response was almost immediate, though her eyes never left Shadowpaw. It was almost unnerving, the way she was staring down into the almost-cowering apprentice's soul like it was nothing. Her face was almost expressionless, except for that hint of softness that had been there since Hazelrunner saw her.
Rainstar knew Shadowpaw had been through so much. Thinking of her...dreams? Nightmares? Whatever in the name of Starclan that they were, she felt that the cat nearly cowering at her paws wasn't the one from her premonitions. She had a chance to intervene, to stop whatever that future was.
"Umm...w...where?" The kittypet mewed boredly. "I don't see anything...camplike." She looked to where Wrenflight was staring. "No...not...that. It isn't even..." She glanced back to Wrenflight, then back to the camp. "Spiky overexaggerated..." It was a very quiet mumble, made in irritation and perhaps slightly too audible.
(I'm just imagining Aspenpaw half heartbroken from his father losing lives and then this other deputy starts sobbing and hes just thinking "W H A T I N T H E N A M E O F S T A R C L A N")
He didn't seem at all aware of his visibility to the whole of the Thunderclan cats, completely removed from his surroundings. "I can't do this, WIldberry, I can't. I'm not strong. When she appointed me, I told Rainstar I would serve until I no longer lived, but now I know...I can't even serve my clan adequately. I can't, I'm not strong enough..." It was a low whining amongst the sobs, not necessarily interrupted by them, but accompanied. It was an ugly sobbing that to a cat who didn't like emotion might be hard to watch; Ravenfang knew thought that Wildberry wasn't that cat despite the gruff exterior.
He tried wiping tears from his muzzle after he finished speaking. He looked absolutely awfully pathetic. A prideful clan like Thunderclan was going to lap this up like poppy seeds.
Of course, when Sprucestar padded out from the den and offered...comfort...Ravenfang was taken aback. Sprucestar's words didn't roll off of his tongue and into Ravenfang that smoothly, but as he wiped tears from his muzzle, the deputy mumbled some thanks. "I'm nothing compared to you..." He added in a quiet hiss.

The young she-cat frowned a little as she watched Shadowpaw start to deflate beside her the closer they ventured towards Rainstar. Coming to a stop in front of Rainstar carefully studying her as the leader seemed to only be paying attention to the apprentice while asking them to tell her what was wrong. Instinctively the young warrior inched closer to Shadowpaw, to offer comfort and maybe as a bit of sign of protection. She flicked her tail with a bit of uncertainty as she thought she saw the softness in the leader’s eyes as she looked at Shadowpaw. Maybe she had started to understand that Shadowpaw was a good cat.
”Hawktail found us outside of camp. He was worried because he hasn’t seen Whispersong. When we went to look for her at the Riverclan border, we didn’t find her, but we found Shadowclan on both sides of the border, Amberberry’s scent was among them.” Hazelrunner drew in a deep breath as she looked towards her leader uncertainly.
Wrenflight tipped her head when the kittypet reaction seemed rather unwhelmed by their camp. “It isn’t as...large as a twoleg nest, but its our home.” The she-cat tried to explain the fact that they didn’t need a camp that was lavish. Looking at the thicket bushes surrounding the camp she felt a little homesick to see the Riverclan camp tucked among the riverbed. She sighed softly to herself. Blinking a little to herself when she caught the name Princess used. Blinking she wondered if that was a pet name she called the mysetery cat, that seemed to be filling her head with a lot of stories about clan cats.
“Come on, don’t knock it until you what its like to be there.” She mewed softlt motioning for the she-cat to follow across the moor towards the Windclan camp.
The medicine cat sighed softly as the deputy broke down into whining and sobbing all in the same breath. It was a sad sigh at seeing the deputy break down like this when he had been so starry-eyed when he had been appointed as deputy. Time had worn him down to this. “You have fulfilled your promise to Rainstar. You’ve served your clan well.” The she-cat sat down beside the deputy. She snapped her head up to look at Sprucestar, expecting him to make the situation worse, she was surprised that he was actually offering encouragement.
The large cat stare at Ravenfang in sniveling mess at his paws. Sprucestar watched him for a moment before giving a soft snort. “Of course you aren’t.” Sprucestar said with no hint of compassion in his voice. “You will never be me. You’ll never be Rainstar either. Chasing shadows won’t get you anything.” The leader’s voice was a little less harsh now before he sat himself down in the entrance of medicine cat den.
(Aspenpaw has been watching some pretty stressful stuff happening in Thunderclan)
