Prologue
Waking up in the warm nest of hay, which was covered in the morning sun, a small little cat, who was only a few weeks old, sat up and stretched his tiny paws out onto the dirt in front of him. He heard the usual squeaking of the bunnies coming from the other pen that was right near the kitten pen. The tiny cat saw some of the older kittens playing with each other, which made him want to join in with them. He clumsily stumbled out of his nest and slowly walked toward the group of cats, but as he came closer, there was a very interesting scent that distracted him.
The kitten looked up at the end of the pen and saw a human child coming right towards him. Before he knew it, he was lifted in the sky, mewing in surprise. The little human carried him to a really big machine that rumbled when they got closer. He was placed gently onto the seat, and very soon the machine took off and went to a human den that was even bigger than the machine the kitten was riding in.
The human child put him down on the floor of the den and placed some food, water and toys down too. By then, most of the day had gone by and it was nighttime now. The sleepy little cat made his way to his new bed that was much more comfortable than the nest in his old pen. He slowly closed eyes as he thought about today. "This is my home now. These humans really love me." In the next moment, he was fast asleep.
10 Months Later...
Owl woke up from his bed and stretched and licked his dark brown fur. During his time when he recently moved in the den, he kept hearing the humans call for him using the word Owl. He eventually learned that was what they decided to name him. Owl was nearly a full grown cat today.
He loved to wake up to the peacefulness of mornings. However, the peacefulness did not last long. He heard the adult human yelling to the child human making Owl wonder what was happening. He screeched when the big human quickly picked him up and threw him into the car. Owl heard the little human protesting as the car was moving at a very fast pace.
He was feeling really scared from not knowing what was going to happen to him. Shortly, he saw the door open, and he was thrown out onto the hard road, seeing the car moving past him, abandoning him in the wild. Owl just sat there completely in shock. "I can't believe they just left me all alone! And in the cold, pouring rain! I will hate humans for the rest of my life!" he thought. Owl felt so rejected and so sad. He curled up in the grass and cried himself to sleep.

Chapter 1
Owl woke up to the sound of another cat's voice. "Hey you! What are you doing out here?," the voice said. Owl opened his eyes to see a tuxedo cat with a concerned look on his face. "You alright there young cat? I'm Coco by the way. When I saw you out on the side of the road I just had to come and help you. Anyway, what's your name?"
"Umm... my name is... is Owl," the brown cat said to Coco.
"That's a nice name. Could you tell me what happened to you?"
"Well... I used have humans who loved me so much. But today, they just threw me out of their car and left me behind!"
"That sounds terrible! I better show you how to take care of yourself out here in the wild. You need to know how to learn how to hunt, forage, and fight. I'll start by teaching you how to forage. Do you think you could find a plant with green leaves and a red berry in the middle?"
Owl nodded to Coco. He went off to look for the plant and sniffed the air for any scents that smelled like herbs. Soon he found a plant that matched the description that Coco said. Owl picked it up from the bush and took it back to Coco. The black and white cat said to him "Great job owl! This herb is called Goldenseal. We use this to treat injured cats. There is also another herb called Marigold that is a better treatment for wounds but is a little harder to find than Goldenseal."
The young cat listened closely to remember all the information that was being taught to him. "Now you're going to learn how to hunt. Every cat must learn how to catch prey to survive in the wild. First you must crouch and sneak around the prey so that it doesn't see you coming. Then when you feel like you are close enough, but not too close to the prey, pounce at it and try to catch it. Try sneaking around and locate a mouse, and when you catch one bring it back to me."
Owl crouched and moved forward stepping lightly on the grass. He smelled a mouse nearby. When the mouse was in sight, he slowly moved towards it. When he thought he was close enough, he leaped at it and caught it in his mouth. "My very first mouse! I can hunt!" Owl thought. He walked to Coco with his head high and the dead mouse in his jaws.
Coco said to him, "Nice catch Owl! You'll become a great hunter one day. You will find many other types of prey out here in the wild. Some prey will see you coming farther than mice can so make sure you are careful when stalking these types of prey. I bet you are hungry so how about you eat the mouse you caught." Owl took a bite out of the freshly killed prey. The taste was amazing! It was a whole lot better than what his owners had fed him. He quickly finished eating the rest of the mouse and listened for the next thing Coco was going to teach him.
"The next skill you need to know is how to fight in case you get in a battle. I'll spar with you so I can see how well your fighting skills are. Are you ready to fight me Owl?"
"I think so Coco," Owl said.
"Okay. 3, 2, 1... Fight!" Coco charged toward Owl with increasing speed. Owl dodged out of the way just before Coco's claws raked his pelt. He clawed Coco's face only to be hit by Coco's counterattack. The fight continued for a few more moments until Coco said that it was enough sparring.
"You put up a good fight. But you could practice a little more. Someday, you will need to be prepared to fight an entire patrol of cats."
"I'll be sure to work on my skills Coco," said Owl.
"It looks like your training is finished. It's time that I tell you about the colonies. There are three of them and I'm sure all of them would be willing to have you as a member of their colony. The closest colony from here is the Forest Colony. Their leader is Mayor and they live the forest. Another colony is the Mountain Domain. Leo is cat who leads them. Their territory is in the highlands and it's very rocky. And finally, the last colony is the Mystic Colony. They are a group of very strange cats who live in a swamp and are led by Alisa. So Owl, which colony would you like to join?"
"I think I'll choose... the Forest Colony," Owl decided.
"Alright. I'll lead you there." It didn't take that long to travel to Owl's new home. When they had reached the colony, Coco brought Owl into a den made out of parts of the nature of the forest. "Welcome to your own den! This is where you will sleep in the colony. You can also place some of the items you find on your journeys in here. Well Owl, this is when I must leave. I'm sure you will do great in the wild. Why don't you get some sleep?" Right after Coco said goodbye, sparkles formed around him and in the next moment, he had disappeared.
"Where did he go?" Owl wondered. "I better get some rest." Owl went to his nest, curling up in a ball and went to sleep so that he could see what the next day of his new life would bring.
"Umm... my name is... is Owl," the brown cat said to Coco.
