I logged in today to notice a large amount of lag in my den I never noticed before. My copy of Cattails had *just* updated.

.... I think mini events where your mate or any cat asks for something and you need to find it, it also would make the cats seem less like they are just there. This. Daily quests, or even having to keep up with the kittens' demands might be good. Maybe get a message from your mate "Hey, the kittens need your attention" and they ask for something?

You can! Get to 75% rep then talk with Oracle. Your spouse and kittens (and your den with all its upgrades) will be instantly transferred over to your new colony. You get to keep those Oooh, I did NOT know that. I thought we had to start over. But I'm going to stay with the Forest Colony. :-)

So.... Between Spring 10 and Summer 1, my cats had their kittens. We had two, and I dutifully played with the color options and names, deciding on both. I took a screencap and posted it in the kitten thread, then decided to see what other combinations might come up. I exited the game, then reloaded it to late evening Spring 10 (after the festival) just before I went to sleep and had the kittens. This is where the problem started.
1. I have a Catnip in the center of my sleeping area that I did NOT put there. I cannot click on it to pick it up. 2. The time clicks over to 12am, and the first day of summer. When I go to sleep, the "kittens are coming" dialogue does not come up.
Quitting out of the game doesn't seem to fix it. Is the kitten birth day approximate? How can we fix the "random item in my bed" bug from appearing?
I hope this description helps. I'll play the game a bit more and see what happens.
UPDATE: Okay, kittens are approximate. But I still have that dratted catnip in my bed. ;-)
UPDATE 2: Kittens are really approximate. And the catnip disappeared after three days of solid sleep.

I took Flameheart to go to the Pirate Mine and, naturally, forgot which direction to swim in. So I picked a direction (D) and swam while sticking to the bottom of the swim-able area. The second I got into the next screen, poor Flameheart is stuck up against a rock! She can't swim up, down, left, OR right! I tried teleporting home, but because she is actively swimming, it keeps getting cancelled. I cannot get out of this situation without quitting the game and losing progress from my last save. :-( I took a screencap of her stuck, in case that helps you figure out where she is.

I married Scout! Hubby wanted me to go for Missy, but I just adore Scout. He's soooo adorable, and is such a loving spouse. Can't wait to see kittens!
I think all the cats from the Forest Colony were there, and mmmaybe Jag.

In Autumn, Mayor asks the player, "I must make sure that everyone has enough prey stocked up for winter. How's your stache doing, (player)?"
That should be "stash" not "stache" which is slang for mustache. I'm sure my kitty has a nice fuzzy upper lip, but am not sure how that affects their prey stockpile! :-D

Heh, I tried proposing to three separate cats and they all refused me. They accepted the Red Rose okay, but not the Shiny Trinket. :-( To have a cat accept a proposal, you need to keep giving them gifts until the heart in the bottom right corner of their dialogue turns red. Then you can give them a shiny trinket. Ah! Thank you so much! Scout, here I come!

I just wanted to take a moment to give a deep, sincere THANK YOU to Falcon Development for bringing Sarge back to (virtual) life. He was my "heart kitty" who started out as a snarling, scratching feral kitten grabbed from a gas station by a friend and taken to my house, and grew up into the most wonderful, loving companion. We went through ups and downs, moves (so many moves), overseas assignment (he stayed with my mom for that year), numerous boyfriends, job changes, schooling, more moves, buying my first and second homes, engagement, and marriage. He lived through ingesting a sewing needle (with thread), kidney problems from eating a dangerous houseplant, escaping from the house and *immediately* getting into a catfight, 12-hour car rides when moving, tolerating other cats when necessary, leash training (yes, he was leash-trained!), claw-trimming, and anything else life threw at him. All he needed was Mom to curl up against, and he was happy. Just one week shy of being in my life for 15 years, he started seeping fluid from his belly. The vet diagnosed him with hemangiosarcoma, a blood-borne cancer that usually affects dogs, and a particularly aggressive strain. She said he *might* last a week, weakening as he eventually bled out. I had to make the most difficult decision in my life to let him go.... to not let him suffer. He just wanted to go home. I held him as we gave him peace. I felt like a piece of my soul was torn out when he died. It's been almost two years and I still break down about it. You guys are letting me memorialize my special boy, and I have no words to express my gratitude that I can spend time, even just virtually, with my Sarge. Thank you.

So my parents were up to visit over the weekend and, being the good daughter that I am who got Mom into video games in the first place, I decided to show her the Cattails game and let her play it a bit. She spent quite a few hours playing, both before and after I sat next to her giving her instructions. :-) She was quite intrigued by the game, and was interested in possibly getting it when it comes out fully. Here are some of her thoughts. (Just as a note, my mom is going to be 71 later this year)
- For older people, especially those who didn't grow up using a keyboard, the WASD movement is not intuitive, and not explained at the beginning. - Added to this, with her arthritis, it was very difficult for her to use the keys one-handed to stalk and catch prey, so her poor kitty starved to death multiple times before I starting giving her instructions. (Note: I also have arthritis, and trying to hold the SHIFT key down with my left pinkie finger gets very difficult when it acts up) - As above, she didn't know you could drop items to store them in the den, and I had to fumble around a bit to remember how (it had been a little while since I played). - I played her kitty a little bit to try and catch some prey for her, and since my kitty was maxed out in Hunting, it was amazing how difficult it is to get close enough to catch anything at lower levels. (I did suggest she pick berries for food and work up XP from them to level Hunting)
We had some suggestions from her play-through and commentary:
- Could you expand the initial "How to move" dialogue as an optional feature for people who have never actually played a computer game before? - Would you please expand the initial instruction dialogue to explain about the "R" and "E" keys more fully? (Holding and dropping items) - Is it possible to make an "Easy" or even a Handicap/Septuagenarian mode for people with physical difficulties? Mom really liked the game, but her fingers just don't have the small muscle dexterity to move quickly anymore.
I'm really looking forward to the Beta, and I think you may have a customer in my mom! Thank you so much for making this game!

I purrsonally want it, but we don't have the sound recordings for it. We would have to buy some if we were to do this. Or I would have to attempt to make random cat noises in our microphone There are, literally, thousands and thousands of kitty cat videos on YouTube with the cats making adorable sounds. ;-) Though hearing you trying to meow would be ace! <3

It is possible, though I will point out that cats that live secluded from humans do not meow. Its a somewhat inter-species method of communicating! That is true! However, wild cats also tend not to mine, store food, or harvest berries, either. ;-)

I thought it would be cute if, when you interact with other cats, you get the occasional meow, purr, or even a growl, depending on your relationship. Is this kind of sound effect possible?
