Inclining her head to the side she couldn’t completely understand why he seemed to take her words so poorly. She had meant it as more of a joke than anything. Maybe she just hadn’t made that clear enough. “You never know unless you give something a chance.” She mewed softly nursing him a little. She didn’t want for him to be a funk because he had caught something. Flicking the end of her tail she looked this way and that. All this talk about prey was making her realize that she was rather hungry herself. Her ears perked up when she saw a few thrush pecking about a bit towards the moors. She opened her mouth to ask Shadowpaw to bury the frog before immediately wincing as she was reminded the large snapping teeth of the dog that they had encountered because of their buried rabbits.
“Um...Maybe I should go try to get one of those thrush to take back to camp.” She mewed briefly as she moved to take in a deep breath so, she didn’t get too unsteady on her paws. Flashing one last smile she hadn’t entirely lost her good mood yet. Or, at least she didn’t want him to see her that way. Flexing her claws briefly she squared up her shoulders and made her way back towards the tiny flock of birds. Here was something she could far more easily pounce on. Crouching down she wriggled her haunches as she inched closer to them.
Wrenflight braced herself hearing pawsteps following her out of the den. She didn’t noticeably slowed down her pawsteps until he called out to her, pleading practically. The end of her tail twitched again as she stopped long enough to let him finish. Taking in a deep breath she considered her options. If her and Ravenfang were going to make this thing work, whatever form it might take, they would have to learn to deal with their problems as they came. “That wasn’t right, Ravenfang.” She finished his thought even if that wasn’t what he had meant to say. Slowly turning herself around she gave the tom her full attention. It was clear from her expression that she had been just the tiniest bit hurt, despite her best efforts not to be.
The past few days had been hard for her. Wrenflight had to push aside her fears to go back to the place of a lot of nightmares for her and then had to leave that clan behind. The she-cat needed support now more than ever.

Shadowpaw's smile returned as Hazelrunner demonstrated her openness to different prey. "I wish more cats thought like you." He quietly mused, half to himself, as he gazed hungrily down at the frog, Hazelrunner's quoting of the real Warrior Code echoing in his head as he sighed, turning away from it. He noticed her wincing but simply stared at her with a little confusion clearly in his eyes, though he didn't say anything before she spoke.
He stayed back as she approached the group of thrushes, keeping the frog at his paws and taking a low stance to keep himself hidden, just as with the frog before. He wasn't confident enough to approach with her, and likely would scare them off with his Shadowclan scent, though, if he asked his clanmates here, they would likely say it was almost absent at this point. He quietly giggled as she wiggled her haunches like before.
Ravenfang sucked in a breath through his nostrils as she finished the obvious fact for him. Yes, she was right and that's what he meant to say. He'd picked a pretty bad moment to get snappish with her, the morning after she left her clanmates, and he of all cats decided to speak to her like that. "I won't make excuses for it, okay? I shouldn't have said that." he stepped closer as he quietly began apologizing. "I'm sorry." He gazed at her nervously, not certain if this was enough for her. He wasn't sure what else he could say that she wanted to hear, but some part of his gut told him it wasn't effectively enough. It had been quite some time since he dealt with this kind of...resolution. He was left awkwardly staring at her waiting for forgiveness or lack thereof.

The small tan birds were blissfully unaware as she slowly made her way from the bottom of the hill near the shore to the top. Tensing up her muscles she cursed a little to herself when her stomach let out a hollow groan. Several of the birds paused and looked in her direction. Knowing she most likely wouldn’t be getting another chance. Leaping forwards she had her claws outstretched in front of her. The last bird to try to flutter up was the one Hazelrunner was going for. Slapping the bird out of the air she reached down and snapped its neck before it could recover. She sighed a little to herself, not looking forwards to having feathers in her mouth the entire walk back to camp. Picking up the thrush gingerly she moved to trot herself briskly down the hill again to join Shadowpaw at the bottom. Dropping the bird in the sand she scrunched up her face for a moment as she had to spit out all the loose bird feathers.
Shaking out her pelt she turned back to Shadowpaw. “Should we head back to camp now?” She asked with a slight tilt of her head up towards the sun that still trying to peak from behind the clouds. Turning back to Shadowpaw she was smiling a little to herself, noting the fact, proudly that he hadn’t eaten frog himself. She was sure if they gave it a little while on the prey pile he could probably have it if Tawnyface didn’t claim it first or something like that.
Wrenflight kept her eyes fixed on him as he gave his apology and then finished with a nervous look at her, clearly not sure if that was enough. She stopped to consider for herself if it was really enough. She was feeling more disappointed then angry with him. She didn’t come here to let him talk to her like a bothersome kit. With a soft sigh she nodded her head, her expression softening a little. “Okay I forgive you, this time.” She mewed firmly making it clear that she wasn’t going to be as accepting the next time he talked her like that. Taking a step to close the distance between them she moved to stand beside him. “I was being serious though. When your done with your duties you need to get some rest for yourself. You look horrible.” Wrenflight added as she looked him up and down still frowning a little to herself.

Shadowpaw gave her a smile as she returned with the thrush in mouth and gave her a quick "nice job." Then he gave a couple giggles as she spat the feathers out of her mouth, a sound that still, from his own throat, sounded rather strange. It had to show the trust he had in Hazelrunner-trust that she was not going to take it badly and snap at him in return. As she asked whether they should return to camp, he gave a quiet sigh and looked down at his paws for a couple moments. He obviously didn't want to after the excellent and relaxing time they had out of the camp. But he felt the duty she had as a warrior creeping up on them with every moment longer that they remained out of notice of the clan.
He gave a reluctant nod without saying anything, bending downwards to pick up the frog in the grip of his jaw. He felt the creature's nutrients hair-lengths from his teeth but knew he couldn't eat it like he wanted. His stomach groaned in protest to his steadfastness to the rules. He looked up at her with an inquisitive look and mumbled through the prey "ready?"
He began the walk back matching pawsteps with Hazelrunner as they carried the prey with them. He was starting to think of battle training, and the fact that it had slipped through the cracks for the past number of days. He knew he needed to get back into it, but he was still not much good at all in attacking or defending, and in the back of his mind, he felt the time when he would need those skills was creeping up on them. Yet, the prey in his mouth made it difficult to bring up the subject in detail. He kept trying to bring up the subject, then feeling the frog slipping from his mouth, he would clench own on it again an let the topic go for a few more moments.
Ravenfang felt scalded as she told him how he looked and that he needed more rest. But he had to hold his tongue and his ego and accept what she had said. "I understand. Hopefully I'll..." he gulped slightly, trying to pick his words closely as there was an intensity to her as she moved to stand closer and stare him up and down. "I'll...get through everything and hope that...that I have a...a break..." he didn't know, with Rainstar absent for the moment, if he was going to receive the opportunity to take that rest. He couldn't promise her something if he didn't know that he could follow through. He prayed to Starclan that didn't upset her even more.

It made her smile hearing him laugh, bringing the warmth back to her chest again. Even if it was sort of at her expense. She was just glad to see him happy. Once she’d just gotten all of the feathers out of her mouth she sighed when she watched Shadowpaw pick up his frog. Staring back down at the bird she scrunched up her face for a moment before picking it up again, being gentle wit the tiny creature to try and keep the feathers from gumming up her mouth. As they made their way back towards camp she made sure to keep a fairly consistent pace although she certainly wasn’t wanting to go hurdling back towards camp. She glanced at Shadowpaw every once and a while noticing the frog almost slipping out of his mouth only for him to quickly clamp down on it to try and keep it in place. The corners of her mouth tugged up into a smile, although it was misshapen by the bird taking up most of her mouth.
She let her mind wander. This seemed almost like the calm after the storm...or maybe before the next one. As easy as it had been to push all of those worries aside while they were on the lakeshore they were still there. Her eyes flicked to Shadowpaw again. This time the storm might find him too. Sighing into the piece of prey she was carrying she knew she had to start thinking about what he needed to learn next. Even if Ravenfang hadn’t officially made her his mentor again, but he also hadn’t discouraged them from seeing each other either. Regardless, they needed to start focusing on what they could control. She glanced at the sand training hollow as they passed through. Waving her tail to get his attention she then motioned to the sand pit with her tail giving him a silent questioning look. The game of silent cues was about all the best she could do unless she wanted to be spitting up bird feathers for the rest of the morning. She was asking him if he wanted to train in her own nonverbal way.
If that didn’t work then they could just resume this conversation in camp. In the meantime she went back to thinking about just what they needed to focus on...which was pretty much everything at this point. He was improving, but he still had a long way to go still. Flicking her tail she even thought of entertaining the idea of asking Tawnyface to help, before quickly and violently shaking her head to get ride of the thought. She picked up her pace a little as they got closer to the camp entrance, mostly just eager to get this ball of feathers out of her mouth finally.
There were certainly more tactful ways to get across what she was trying to say, but her gentler approach had gotten her brushed aside. It came from a place of genuine concern. He look utter exhausted with fur sticking up at ever angle and a glassy-eyed stare. Wrenflight really cared about him and didn’t want to see him run himself ragged like this. Still, she knew the cat she was talking was practically mated to his duties as deputy. His concession was as much as she could probably hope for. “You duties as deputy seem almost endless.” She mewed making an effort to make her tone a little be lighter and less harsh towards Ravenfang.
“It wouldn’t hurt to take some time to groom though. It’s hard to take you seriously with your fur like that.” She looked at him for a moment, a note of humor in her voice. Despite her best efforts to stay serious she couldn’t help it. He looked rather goofy with all his fur sticking up at odd angles. “Come here and let me help you.” She mewed doing her best to extend an olive branch in her own way. Leaning close to the tom she moved to smooth over a few pieces of fur between his ears. She seemed to have something that was on her mind, but kept it to herself for the time being.

Shadowpaw's worries about training were amplified as they began passing through the sandy training hollow of the territory, feeling the pricks of anxiety increasing as, now that the thought had entered into his mind, the apprentice couldn't stop thinking of doing battle with his old clanmates. Fighting Shadowclan warriors. Thats what he was going to have to do. It was...it was completely insane. Claw to claw against Petalstream, or Crowtooth, or....
He dropped his prey, it making a quiet thud on the ground as he finally noticed a sleeping figure in the hollow, hidden from the moors but clear enough to see when entering the hollow. Someone else had slept outside the camp, and as he came to a he could clearly see the form of Tawnyface asleep. She was breathing peacefully and seemed completely in the stars, her mouth open slightly with a quiet snore emitting from it.
He glanced over at Hazelrunner with a confused look on his face. What was she doing here? Did they even disturb her? Or just walk on?
He reached down and quietly picked the frog back up. He didn't want to bother her when she looked so...so different from her normal. She seemed, at the least, unworried. Ravenfang had to force himself not to bite his lip in front of Wrenflight as she voiced...something--maybe disapproval, maybe annoyance, maybe something else--for the responsibilities that him being deputy had. He couldn't choose how much he had to do as deputy. It was a matter of duty, and every moment he pulled away from it was a moment he was neglecting his clan.
He finally flashed a smile as he heard her tone turn to humor, and he couldn't tell her no as she motioned to allow her to aid him. "Yes, princess." A glint in his eyes broke through his glassy stare for a few moments. He pulled a couple pawsteps closer as she did as well and sat on his haunches.
Another mess of fur practically dragged herself from the apprentice's den. Though her fur wasn't as much of an awful fit as Ravenfang's Leafpaw didn't look much better, her eyes a quarter shut as the light assaulted her tired eyes and she made no glance in the direction of the chatter he heard, clearly recognizing the voice of Ravenfang. She couldn't face him right now. Whilst she felt like she had eyeballs boring into her back, she slipped out of the camp and set herself to do some calming hunting. She at least needed to do some duty.

Hazelrunner completely stopped in her tracks when she came across the figure that was laying in the sandy hollow. She was only slightly relieved when she realized that it was Tawnyface. She glanced back at Shadowpaw as he leaned down to pick up the frog he had dropped in his own surprise. Staring at the she-cat for a long moment she decided that it was probably wiser to leave sleeping cats to lie. She tilted her head to the side slightly confused as to why she was out here in the first place. The last she could recall Tawnyface had maybe gone out of camp after the confrontation with Russetfur. It appeared she hadn’t come back to camp either during the night. That was maybe two things now that both the she-cats could come to agree on.
Walking up beside Shadowpaw she nudged him lightly before motioning back in the direction of camp. She certainly wasn’t bothering any cat so, Hazelrunner saw no reason to disturb her. She didn’t think she’d ever seen Tawnyface this close to what she might describe as anything close to peaceful. As she turned herself around to leave she felt one of the feathers turn and brush her nose. Without warning she let out a loud sneeze dropping the bird on to the ground. Scrunching up her nose she pawed at it for a moment trying to get rid of the tingling in her nose, not aware of how it might have affected the sleeping Tawnyface yet.
She brightened up to see a bit of light come into his glassy eyes.“Glad you’ve come to your senses.” The former Riverclan she-cat paused flashing him a playful smile before moving to sit close to him to help him make his out of control fur a little more manageable. Leaning close to the tom she took her time trying to get the fur to lay flat again. Her ears flicked towards the entrance hearing the sound of the barrier being, disturbed, but didn’t think too much of it. It was most likely just another cat heading out for morning hunting. Purring softly to herself she stepped away to give him a good look before moving around to the other side of the tom. Moving quickly she finished grooming Ravenfang’s pelt smooth again.
Stepping back a moment she stopped to admire her handy work and Ravenfang as well. “Much better.” She mewed softly with a sigh as she brushed her pelt against his. “I guess I should leave you to do your morning duties.” Wrenflight added with a light flick of the end of her tail and stepping away, still smiling all the same. Stretching out from her spot she looked around the camp before her eyes landed on the apprentice den. She silently turned to peer over her shoulder at him deciding not to ask him how things had gone last night talking with her. It was probably something she was going to have to leave between the two of them.
Mousepaw had been moving to get back towards the camp entrance with a mouse dangling in his jaws. His underbelly was dripping wet as he moved to slog back through the moors. He’d had to go jump in after the stupid mouse after it had tried swimming away into the river. Having his own dark cloud over his head he wasn’t really paying attention to his surroundings, causing him to almost slam right into a disgruntled Leafpaw. Shivering he barely missed her and was left breathing a sigh of relief before being left to stare in bewilderment after.

Shadowpaw silently agreed as she indicated they should move on from the hollow and leave the sleeping she-cat be as she was. He had the frog in his grasp when the violent sneeze erupted from Hazelrunner, and he nearly jumped out of his skin as the sound erupted around them. He knew Tawnyface wasn't a very heavy sleeper, but he could at least pray that she wouldn't awaken--after all, she had looked so peaceful and serene, maybe this would be the exception to her light-sleeping tendencies?
They didn't have time to turn around and say "we're not here to kill you!" before the warrior had sprung up from her rest and barrelled forward and into Shadowpaw, sending the frog out of his grasp and the poor apprentice sprawling across the floor in a daze as she pinned him underpaw, ready to strike.
Before she tore his throat out, the instantly alert she-cat seemed to realize who had been caught by her razor-sharpened reflexes. Her gaze flicked upwards to where she saw the other cat and wasn't surprised to see the likely alarmed gaze of Hazelrunner. She harrumphed loudly and pointedly before whapping Shadowpaw on the cheek hard with a paw, before stepping off of him with a sour look on her face, like she knew it was an accident but she was still irritated to have been awoken so rudely. Shadowpaw simply laid there, his cheek stinging as his head recombobulated itself from the impact.
"Do you make a habit of treading over other cats' sleep?" It was a defensive growl from Tawnyface though likely, to some degree, due to embarrassment from her reflexive assault on Shadowpaw.
Ravenfang's cheeks were growing progressively more red the more that Wrenflight worked on fixing his fur, feeling very strange sat in the middle of the camp being fuzzed over by a Riverclan she-cat he was early in a relationship with. It was a weird look to be sporting in the camp. Yet he was powerless to resist as she wasn't going to let him approach the day without having fixed the awful mane of scrappy fur that was his pelt. He watched her with an embarrassed and awkward smile until he saw, from behind Wrenflight that Leafpaw was moving to exit the camp. He was distracted for a few moments as he tried to decide if he should quickly call out to grab her attention, but before he could make a decision Wrenflight was stepping away and analyzing his fur, and Leafpaw had slipped away.
He forced a purr as she finished the embarrassing cleaning and approved of his state now that he was cleaned up. He quietly murmured a thank you to her and stepped forward, nuzzling her muzzle gently. "As I must. But I'll be awaiting the moment until I see my princess again," He tried some helplessly romantic flattery on her with a dashing wink.
"Watch it!" It was a sharp snap from Leafpaw as a blob of fur almost slammed into her, taking her mood from a tired discontentment to a sharp irritation. Her tone was scalding and it seemed to take her a couple seconds to see how soaked he was and how bent out of shape he really looked. She sucked in a deep breath before releasing it as she glanced over his form. "You turn into a fish while I was gone?" There was the slightest humor to her voice, yet there likely wasn't enough to cover the exhaustion and frustration she was in the midst of.

Her face had hardly turned to look at Shadowpaw before the Shadowclan she-cat had shot up from her spot and taken Shadowpaw to the ground. Widening her eyes a little she stared in alarm at how fast the she-cat was up and react. The fur along her spine was already standing on end. Her whole body tensed as she readied herself to have jump between the two cats. Dear Starclan, so much for being peaceful. Luckily she seemed to realize that he wasn’t a threat before anything bad could happen.
Quickly treading over to the downed apprentice she gave the Shadowclan she-cat a hard look. “We do when they’re sleeping in the middle of the training grounds.” She growled softly in return as she moved to gather up her thrush and Shadowpaw’s frog. Glancing down at Shadowpaw briefly to make sure he was only stunned he turned back up towards Tawnyface who seemed more surprised than anything.
She couldn’t say she blamed her. The Shadowclan cat had all the reasons in the world to be on edge. “Sorry about waking you up with my sneezing.” Hazelrunner added as she motioned to the bird to make it clear that it hadn’t at all been intentional. “We didn’t expect to see you here.” She mewed with a light frown looking around the empty sandy hollow.
She could feel the heat coming off his pelt from his embarrassment before he quickly recovered enough to offer a bit of an overly sappy line and wink to boot. “Till then.” She gave a teasing wink before stretching her legs out in front of her. Finally leaving the poor tom in peace she went to find a way to make herself useful around camp. She made her way across camp to poke her head into the the medicine den in hopes of catching Proudpaw awake. She might be able to help the overworked medicine apprentice and maybe get word on how Redsky’s condition was progressing. It was a way to occupy herself at least. She had to tiptoe around the queen curled tightly around her kits.
Spitting out the mouse he was carrying he shook out his pelt, frowning at the sharp tone he got. He didn’t bother to point out the fact that she had been just as at fault as he was, honestly he thought she might snap his head off if she did. Instead he was too busy looking over her disheveled appearance. Her attempt at humor was a poor distraction from the anxiety and exhaustion in her voice. “I wasn’t exactly my choice.” He huffed as he motioned towards the soggy mouse he’d had to drag out of the water. “Are you planning on going hunting on your own?” He asked with a light frown clearly dancing around what he was wanting to ask.

Tawnyface responded with another low growl as Hazelrunner bit back at her for sleeping in the training hollow. "Only part of your forsaken territory sheltered from wind," She muttered almost inaudibly to herself as she thought about the previous night prowling for a place to clear her head. She hadn't intended to stay the night out, but once she was there Tawnyface hadn't exactly felt any particular commitment to returning to the inside of the camp barriers. She knew it might be pushing her privilege to remain there, but right then...she hadn't cared.
A murky cloud was set in Tawnyface's head from the rude awakening, unfortunately not healed much by the apology offered her way. She bit back a harsh response that she instinctively felt pop into her mind, knowing that Hazelrunner wasn't going to take that response well when she had extended a paw of apology. Muttering something under her breath beforepaw, she gave something of a half-glare half-observing glance. "Well, its done now. Don't...worry about it a bunch." it was some sort of curt, Tawnyface forgiveness.
If someone was paying close attention, they might see Tawnyface's brief, very occasional glances at the apprentice laid flat on the hollow floor. She lightly shook her head as he struggled to get up to his paws, his chest where she had slammed into him aching hard from the blow. it had slipped from his mind how powerful of a cat she was. Once he was finally up and cogent, he completely avoided the gaze of either Tawnyface or Hazelrunner.
"I couldn't be in the camp another minute with that mange-pelt," She quietly hissed as she thought of the previous night listening to Russetfur. Something about his way of looking at her...of looking at Shadowpaw, too...it really grinded at her nerves. "I stepped out so I didn't bite his neck open."
Leafpaw didn't say anything as he made a lukewarm defense of what had happened, though she wasn't exactly able to say that he was wrong about that. She tried to swallow her irritation at....everything, as he asked her a simple question. "Yeah. Its almost time for dawn patrol." She averted her gaze and looked out to the moor. "Just getting a head start." If her exhausted appearance and heavy irritation wasn't enough to prove something was wrong with her, it was an apprentice being up extra early to beat the dawn patrol.

Hazelrunner only gave a slow nod to Tawnyface...accepting her apology? She hadn’t even really expected her to do that so, she’d take what she could get. The young warrior was keeping her eyes on Shadowpaw as well watching him as he stumbled to get back up again. He had been hit pretty hard, but it still was a little discouraging to see him taking so long to get up again. Once he was up on his paws again she gave him one more look to make sure that he hadn’t broken anything.
Turning back to Tawnyface she sighed a little to herself. She wast out here for a very similar reason. She could already feel her claws start to come out a little at the mention of the exiled Windclan cat. “Russetfur shouldn’t have been allowed back into Windclan.” Hazelrunner did her best to keep her tone tempered and from getting too worked, but there was also a clear irritation in her words. “Especially now that he is refusing to leave until he speaks to Rainstar and she’s no where to be found.” She muttered, more thinking out loud then anything else really. Her face darkened a little thinking about the possibility that Rainstar might not ever be coming back. “It’s getting worrying.”
Shifting uneasily she took a deep breath looking back towards Shadowpaw. There was no point in thinking about things they truly couldn’t control. He needed trainer more than anything so that was going to have to be her main focus from this point forwards.
Mousepaw followed her gaze away from camp and towards the rolling moors in front of them. The irritation and exhaustion were coming off her in practical waves at this point. He tipped his head slightly at her insistence to miss the dawn patrol entirely. “Can I tag along? I don’t want to walk through camp looking like this with only one measly mouse to show for it.” The apprentice dared to ask even though it seemed likely that she wanted to be alone. He was more doing it to ensure that she was going to be okay. Right now he wasn’t so sure.

"Why was he even allowed to return? He was exiled for a reason, wasn't he?" There was irritation in Tawnyface's voice, but she was essentially preaching to the choir. Hazelrunner likely felt the same way. Tawnyface's gaze turned to Shadowpaw for a few moments as the tom-cat blatantly avoided looking anywhere but his paws for some reason. She felt more irritation pricking at her pelt as she knew that it was likely her fault. She likely scared him, reminding him of their earlier days.
"Your leader needs to get back here, and sooner rather than later. Things are going to continue falling apart until there is a firm paw on the problems. And Ravenfang isn't enough. He isn't ready to tackle cats like Russetfur with the firm authority he needs. You can see it--Russetfur doesn't respect him at all. That means other cats might not either until he proves he won't be disobeyed." It was vaguely Nightstar-like of her, but she wouldn't say it if she didn't believe it. Ravenfang had a lack of authority with those he wasn't family or friend to. That would be a serious problem as he ascended to leader.
Leafpaw stared absent-mindedly at Mousepaw for a few seconds as he asked her if he could join her so that he didn't feel so embarrassed about his meager catch. She briefly thought about their....time the previous day, her strange...breathing problem, hurrying to Riverclan, going on a wild chase to find Ravenfang...only to amount to nothing. She had sort of wasted his time the previous day, so it was weird he wanted to tag along with her instead of catching more prey on his own. She gave a shrug. "Sure. Don't know where I'm going to hunt yet, though."

Hazelrunner breathed out sharply through her nose, having asked herself the exact same question several times since Russetfur had found his way back to their camp. He had no right to come back into their camp like he did and yet he had been allowed to stay. Frowning she shook her head a little. While she appreciated Ravenfang’s willingness to look past a cat’s mistakes what Russetfur did hadn’t been a mistake. “He shouldn’t have been allowed back into camp.” She muttered darkly before shaking her head a little to remind herself that it didn’t really matter what she thought. He wasn’t leaving until Rainstar made a decision.
Her eyes drifted over to Shadowpaw and his downcast eyes. She was sure that he was going through less than pleasant memories of his time back in Shadowclan. She paused to give him an encouraging nudge doing her best to put on a smile. It was only then that she turned her attention back to Tawnyface. She didn’t immediately agree this time, seeming a bit more hesitant to wholeheartedly agree. Ravenfang needed to establish himself as a leader in the minds of the cats of Windclan, but the way she was saying it made it sound more like he had to make every cat fear him more than anything. “I think Rainstar needs to be found sooner than later. You’re right Ravenfang can’t hold the clan together on his own. I guess we have so few warriors that we can’t spare very many to look for her.” She mewed absently as she turned her attention towards the moors. Rainstar could be anywhere at this point and it gave her an uneasy feeling not to know just where she was.
Blinking he decided to take it as a good sign that Leafpaw didn’t seem to find the idea of him going with her repulsive or something. There was still a lot of grey area as to how much of their relationship he might have managed to help mend. In fact she seemed more confused by the idea then anything. Did she think he had a reason to avoid her somehow? “Anywhere, but near the rivers is good. All the rain has made the banks flood.” Mousepaw shrugged nonchalantly as he moved to scrape some dirt over the mouse he’d just brought back. After everything that happened yesterday and how poor of shape she seemed to be in today he figured the last thing she should do is be alone right now.

Tawnyface was at least gratified to hear hazelrunner hear the same thing that she was thinking, though it still left the question of why the piece of mouse-dung was even allowed to enter the camp once again in the first place. of course, she didn't know how he had weasled his way back in, mentioning something about Amberberry and SHadowclan, but without this information she had every reason to be completely abrasive towards his presence in the clan.
Tawnyface's gaze turned to and fixated on Hazelrunner as she took in what the warrior had said. She could see the hesitance in the warrior's eyes as Hazelrunner took several moments to take it in and respond to what Tawnyface had said. She seemed to grow more visibly irritated as the Windclan cat tiptoed a bit around what she had said. "He should be able to by now, but they don't respect him!" It was a hiss of irritation as Hazelrunner resisted what Tawnyface was trying to push onto her, but she knew the soft-hearted Windclan cat wasn't even going to consider what was being said. She would have to accept that this was an area of weakness as far as Windclan went.
Leafpaw honestly wasn't exactly thinking about....their relationship as she didn't particularly think that they were much of anything, be it friend or anything else. He had never really been that with him, save a little bit of politeness lately, excluding his awful snapping at the absolutely distraught Riverclan kitten who had lost his father. She didn't exactly have any thoughts on that subject despite how heavy it was on Mousepaw's mind.
She glanced over at him as she suggested the river given the heavy rain they had been experiencing the last several days. She lifted her muzzle a bit as she thought for a couple moments, thinking about the prey that might be attracted or the fish that might be easily caught, even if they were Windclan cats. She managed to flash a slight smile at him. "That's a good idea."

Hazelrunner frowned when Tawnyface became rather irked by her answer. What did she expect her to say? She could agree with some ideas the Shadowclan she-cat held, but there were others that she was having trouble swallowing. Total control and leadership was one of them. “I know he needs to get the respect of other cats back, but making himself the unquestionable leader isn’t going to make it happen.” She could point to examples in her own mind of cats that were more overbearing and still had plenty of pushback in the clans, Sprucestar being a prime example. Even Nightstar was having cats stand up against him, even if it wasn’t as directly. “Fear isn’t going to make a clan.” Hazelrunner kept her voice as tempered as possible, but there was clearly a lot of her own personal beliefs in those words. She didn’t want the clans to be what Nightstar wanted them to be. She also didn’t want them to become entirely dismissive of their leader. “There has to be a balance.” She mewed, more for herself than Tawnyface.
Shaking her head she gave a light sigh as an idea came into her head. “We can both agree that at the very least Rainstar needs to be found.” She mewed pulling the conversation back before it turned into yet another spat. “It might not hurt to go and check around the moors ourselves and see what happens.” She suggested as she glanced back at Shadowpaw and then Tawnyface. It seemed she meant to go herself at the very least. This was something that was becoming a lot more pressing in her mind. They had to find the Windclan leader or at least get a better idea of where she may have gone.
Mousepaw gave her a rather funny look as she called it a great idea. He was pretty sure she hadn’t heard the part where he said they shouldn’t do that. Thinking it over for a second longer he supposed the worse that could happen was they got a little wetter. He wasn’t really looking forwards to that, but maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. It was pretty safe to assume that Mousepaw would convince himself to do just about anything Leafpaw asked him to. Maybe it was the remnants of the crush he’d had on Leafpaw since pretty much kithood. “The water is disorienting all the prey.” Shrugging his shoulder lightly he wasn’t all that eager to go back down, but he’d be the first one there if Leafpaw asked him. Awe the power of one sided love.
