Ravenfang was brought to altertness the moment Wildberry exited the den, and he was ready as soon as Wildberry prepared to say she needed something. Once the medicine cat finished speaking, he nodded and started on his way out. "Whatever you need. If anyone can help..." It was a vague call to the cats around him as he headed out like an apprentice gathering herbs as a silly punishment. Nothing, not his pride nor his dignity would stop him from doing what he needed to in order to help Redsky and Dogclaw survive.
Ebonykit said nothing as his mother rose up to leave, though he whimpered pathetically, saying nothing and praying that this didn't mean his mother wasn't going to return either. His father hadn't come back after promising that he would. What could this mean? Would his father lie to them? Did he not know? It was so difficult to reconcile the fear he was feeling with what his father had told him.
Shadowpaw was clearly concerned after the conversation with Leafpaw, but he had settled for leaving the she-cat be and staying comfortably near Hazelrunner; yet when she decided to rise and leave him, he quietly whimpered in protest, though he said nothing to her as she left him behind. He knew what she was thinking about as she approached the den.
Leafpaw was curled up in a nest, facing the back of the den with her head propped up slightly on one of her paws. It didn't seem liek she noticed, or if she did, she didn't seem to care as the pawsteps of a cat approached the entrance of the den. She didn't want to talk about how much of a failure, a liar she was feeling like in this moment.

She watched Ravenfang hurry off like a dutiful apprentice before turning to go back into the den. She was stopped by Otterfur’s sudden appearance at the entrance of the den. She sighed softly to herself she didn’t want to give him false hope but, he also clearly needed some news from her. “I can’t make any promises but, she is doing better.” She explained in a quieter tone as she moved past him to step back into the den. “There isn’t else you can do for her.” Wildberry added glancing over her shoulder, she could tell he was hesitating. He just had to make sure that he was doing it for the right reasons.
Wrenflight heard Ravenfang’s call for any cats willing to help. Her eyes flickered between him and the den behind him. She slowly jogged her way over to him. “What do you need help with?” The Riverclan she-cat mewed as she made her way over to him. Even if she was hesitant to see Redsky right now but, she still was willing to do what she had to help.
The she-cat hesitated in the entrance of the den hearing Ebonykit’s pitiful whimper. “You will still be able to see me.” The queen mewed softly trying to give him some sort of comfort. She wasn’t going anywhere far. She pinned her ears against her head she made her way out of the den. Speckleflower made her way to the warrior den. She poked her head in and before she could even get a word out the warriors in the den already seemed to know why she was there. They quickly reassured her that Lavenderfur was fine but, was staying behind in Riverclan camp for now. Blinking Speckleflower stood stunned for a moment. She couldn’t fathom what would make him want to stay in Riverclan without at least coming back to make his kits feel better. The end of her tail twitched as she turned to leave back to the nursery.
The she-cat offered Shadowpaw an apologetic look before continuing on her way. Hazelrunner needed to check on Leafpaw now. “Hey Leafpaw.” She mewed, mostly to get her attention since her back was to her. She didn’t know exactly what was bothering her but, she couldn’t leave her friend like this either. She ducked her head a little as she made her way into the apprentice den. She settled down in the spot beside Leafpaw.

Ravenfang didn't stop moving as Wrenflight approached him, keeping at a brisk pace for the exit of the camp. "Water, and poppy seeds. Wildberry needs as much as we can find and as quickly as we can find it. I'm going for poppyseeds." He didn't know where the moss was in the Riverclan territory and he wasn't going to sprint all the way through Thunderclan and towards Windclan to get moss and then sprint all the way back. "If you can get water, please do," He called over his shoulder as he exited the camp, though he stopped for a brief moment and turned his head back. "We'll talk soon." With that, he was gone.Leafpaw's head lifted with a start as the warrior startled her. She still faced the back of the den, not looking at the warrior until her friend settled down beside her with a greeting. Leafpaw had hoped they'd leave her alone to mope and feel bad about herself, at least for a few hours. But nooooooooo. She just had to be a concerned and supportive friend.
"Hi." She mewed back at Hazelrunner. Her voice didn't seem to have anything particularly...hostile about it. Perhaps just the worry that they were all feeling right now with the battle. She had been trying to rest for a number of hours, yet she hadn't been able to catch any.

Wrenflight had to keep a brisk pace to keep up with him. She bobbed her head in understanding as he told her what he needed. “Alright.” She mewed turning back towards the camp, she would check if there was any moss in camp before she went out looking for it. She barely caught what he was saying about talking later. She glanced over her shoulder and signed seeing he had already bolted right out of camp. Shaking her head lightly she turned to take a look around camp. She glanced at Otterfur out of the corner of her eyes. There was a cat she still needed to have a talk with too. She still hadn’t told him she wasn’t going to stay in Riverclan. Focus, she needed to find moss and get water. That’s all she needed to focus on right now.
Hazelrunner shifted a little, making herself comfortable inside the den. The sullen look on Leafpaw’s face made it clear she wasn’t doing any better than she had been last night. It was times like this when she wished she had a window into what her friend was thinking about. Flicking her tail a little behind her she mulled over what to do next. She looked around the den sighing a little to herself. “Do you want to talk about what’s wrong?’ She asked her friend softly although Leafpaw should know by now that she wasn’t going to leave her to sulk even if she didn’t want to talk about it with her. She would stay right here all day if she had to and that was that.
Mousepaw had been glad that the warrior who’s nest he’d taken over didn’t come back from Riverclan last night. There was no way he could have gone crawling back to the apprentice den after how badly he’d managed to screw things up last night. As much as he hated the idea he was going to apologize to simpering runt or at least get him to buy that he was sorry for what he’d done. But, firstly he had to do what he could to patch things up with Leafpaw. It was the only way to get everything back on track. He’d seen her rush off into the den last night and not come out again yet. The tom chose to use this as his opportunity. Maybe he could use the chance to convince her that he wasn’t a complete monster or anything. He walked into the apprentice den only to find that Leafpaw wasn’t alone. Biting back a loud sigh he turned to leave the den. Hazelrunner had beat him to it!
Otterfur stepped back a bit to take stock. The medicine cat had assured him that Redsky would make it so, he should go. Slowly rising up to his paws he leap on the high rock to officially address his clan. His claws scraped against the stone as he frowned looking down at all the damage that Shadowclan had done. “It’s time we start to took forwards to what our clan will need. I need any able bodied cat that can be spared to go out fishing or help gather whatever we can to help sick clanmates. I also need two cats to come with me to the Moonpool.” He mewed looking to his clanmates. He was looking to cats to step forwards. He still needed to chose a deputy as well but, he needed to see if any cats would really be up the task.

It took much longer than he wanted, but Ravenfang did not know this territory and he was at a disadvantage as well from how exhausted he was, staying up the entirety of the night, freezing from the storm that had only been stoppedd for a pawful of hours now, and frankly a half-tail-length away from a panic attack over his anxiety about Redsky and Dogclaw. It was sufficient to say he wasn't operating at his maximum ability and it was a few minutes longer than anyone would of liked until he came back with a bunch of cobwebs with a large number of poppy seeds sticking to them, some kind of unorthodox manner of carrying more in a single trip than normal.
Leafpaw finally turned her head fully to look at her friend. Her eyes were as much of a shield from understanding what was in her mind as ever. "You know the problem, Hazelrunner. It doesn't need to be said. Everything is not right, and there is so much we are powerless to stop. Without the power of Starclan or whatever there is above us...well, we can only rely on ourselves, and some of us..." Her eyes slowly cast themselves away, down to her own paws. "...can't do that much of anything."
The words of the deputy seemed to finally catch Lavenderfur's attention as he blankly vigiled over the camp, and he listened to the rallying call to gather absolutely everything that could be gathered to support the clan. Obviously, the Windclan warrior wasn't going to the Moonpool with the Riverclan deputy, but he could put his blank mind to use gathering something, whether it be food (not fish) or some sort of herb for the clan. Seeing Ravefang entering with...dirty cobwebs...? he put himself towards the exit of the camp, struggling through the water before emerging on the other side.

Wildberry was standing at the the entrance of the den staring out towards the entrance looking for any signs of Ravenfang. If she knew where to find poppy seeds she would have pointed him the right direction but, she didn’t even know where to start looking herself. Ravenfang was practically running himself ragged at this point so, she probably shouldn’t be sending him on wild goose chase. She raised a brow as the deputy reappeared with a clump of cobwebs, although she couldn’t tell for sure. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the dark poppy seeds tangled up in the spider webs. “Thank Starclan.” She mewed softly to herself. “Thank you. Lay them down and untangle them if you can.” She instructed as she turned to Dogclaw who was laying on his side. He opened his eyes and looked up as he heard talking blinking his eyes to focus on the cats in the den. He was laying perfectly still to try to keep from moving more than he had to.
Hazelrunner clicked her ears back when her friend turned to look at her, clearly having already having made up her mind about how horrible things were. Her tail twitched behind her. She couldn’t blame her for the way she was feeling about all of this but, that didn’t mean she was right. “There’s always things out of our paws. We’re not going to be able to get through this alone but, we’re not alone.” She wasn’t blindly optimistic about the future but, last night proved that with or without Starclan they could come together and help change things for the better. “They are still a lot of things we can all do though.” She added leaning her head down a little.
Once a couple of Riverclan cats had stepped forwards he slowly made made his way down moving stiffly. The cats in camp started to gather in loosely organized patrols. With a few quick parting words the deputy lead the way out of camp. By the time he was out of camp he spotted Lavenderfur hauling himself on to the opposite shore. He flicked his tail in the Windclan cat’s direction before slipping into the water to paddle his way across.

Ravenfang spent a careful half-minute trying to carefully untangle the seeds from the cobwebs, knowing it would be that later she would need plenty more cobwebs to use for the injured cats, but his paw-eye coordination was not ideal and he wasn't doing the best job possible. Still, before a minute had passed all of the poppy seeds, probably a dozen or so, were untangled and laid in a neat pile.
His eyes caught Dogclaw's own after he finished with the pile. He bit his lip, a bit of pain striking itself through him as he saw the terrible condition of the warrior. He still needed to figure out what had happened to get the warrior captured and put in this condition, but now was not the moment for these questions.
Leafpaw frowned as she stared down at her paws, hearing the same thing from her friend that she had always heard. They could to anything together--accomplish anything, surmount anything...but could they? Nightstar was another world, and she didn't know if they were enough like Hazelrunner did. "I hope you're right. I hope we can all come together, and fight like never before, and...unite ourselves like hasn't been seen in moons." She closed her eyes.
She emitted a light sigh, not opening her eyes nor looking up. "I sure hope you can train Shadowpaw how to defend himself, because...Not that I mean this like his father, but...he is just very..." She went silent for a few long tense moments, as she seemed to be sorting through words to choose. "...so fragile. He doesn't know how to sustain himself, other than running. And eventually...running isn't...it won't be enough."

Dogclaw’s eyes stared listlessly back at the deputy. He wasn’t able to say or do anything practically. He was left trying to keep from hurting himself even more by moving too much. The warrior dropped his gaze staring at the ground. He didn’t know if they knew about Whispersong or what he presumed had happened to her. There was still a chance she could be alive but, Dogclaw didn’t really have it in him to hold on to that hope. He’d seen the blood himself and she would be in the heart of Shadowclan now. His head slowly rested his head back down wincing a little to himself so. When Wildberry came over and put the poppy seeds practically in front of his nose he winced a little to lap up the seeds, moving ever so slowly.
Wrenflight emerged through the camp entrance carrying a large piece of soaking wet moss. It had taken longer than she thought it would to gather water for the medicine cat. Making her way over to the makeshift medicine cat she looked inside not sure where to put it. As she was looking around she caught sight of Redsky laying in the nest. She flicked her ears back a bit nervously before moving into the den to drop the moss inside. She was left staring at Redsky for a moment before being quickly shooed out by Wildberry again.
“I really hope so too.” She mewed softly to herself shuffling her paws in the dirt. The victory at Riverclan was a hopeful sign for the future but, it still wasn’t a guarantee. She laid her chin on her paws. She was still going to hold on to the hope that they could all unite together. She looked over to her friend as she fell quiet when Leafpaw brought up Shadowpaw flicking her ears forwards a little.
Hazelrunner stared quietly at Leafpaw as she struggled to find an appropriate word to describe Shadowpaw. Fragile. She quietly ruminated on that word. She seen him grow quite a bit but, she couldn’t completely disagree. Sometimes the wind could blow him away. “He’s doing the best he can.” She mewed to softly sitting up a little. “He’ll get there eventually.”

The best he can. Leafpaw could not disagree with her description, thinking over Shadowpaw's progress the last, very short...moon? Had it been that long? She was uncertain. It felt like six had passed. Shadowpaw had to make up for a lot of missed time and lessons, and it wasn't an easy task in any way for him nor anyone trying to help him. That was to say, she didn't disagree that he was doing his best...but she didn't know if his best would be enough.
"Everyone is exhausted. Exhausted or hurt. And yet, we don't have time to rest. Shadowpaw included. Do you think he understands that? You and I both want to help him, but I don't know if he is ready for what that really means. Do you know what I'm trying to say? I don't think he's realized what he's preparing to do. And how hard he will have to work to...to match up to what he's going to have to face."
Her gaze darkened even more as she continued spouting out her thoughts. "I don't just mean fighting other cats, which he already knows he will have to do...eventually. But...if we come out on the other side of this, and we are victorious...he could end up feeling so alone. His mother was murdered and, well...I can't imagine anyone will be advocating to spare Nightstar. He's...He will be completely alone--no family left in his life."
Her voice revealed a bit of the sadness she felt in her heart for him. The truth was, she knew in part what that felt like. She had Ravenfang, which was enough of a support that she had been raised up okay--and it was more than nothing in her life, something Shadowpaw wasn't going to have anymore. "I can't imagine what that will be like for him."

Hazelrunner slumped herself down a little. Leafpaw’s dark foreboding thoughts were enough to bring down Hazelrunner’s mind to much darker place. He’d have to fight eventually. He was going to have to fight his old clanmates, any of them would probably gladly kill Shadowpaw if they really got the chance. Not to mention what Nightstar would do to him if he got the chance. Her claws slowly digging into the dirt and moss at that thought.
“He already knows. He doesn’t want that to happen, he’s tried so hard to find a way to spare Nightstar’s life. Even after everything he did Shadowpaw still doesn’t want to lose him.” Hazelrunner looked down at her claws for a moment. Shadowpaw just didn’t want to lose what he thought was the last family he had left. Her eyes flickered briefly to Leafpaw. ”He’d not completely alone in this world...” Her eyes clouded over a little. She knew something they both didn’t and in a way it was killing her not to say anything. To just tell Leafpaw and Shadowpaw that they would have each other still. It might help Shadowpaw come to terms with the fact that he was going to lose Nightstar if they were able to win. But, she couldn’t bring herself to break the promise she’d given to Dawnstar. It would mean Leafpaw would have to come to terms with the fact that Ravenfang had been lying to her this whole time. She also didn’t want there to be a chance that Nightstar would find out as well. “He’ll still have other cats in his life that care about him.” She petered out a little as she awkwardly laid her head back down.
“It’s never going to be alone like that. It’s like a piece of your life that is just missing and nothing is going to bring that back.” She mewed softly sheathing her claws again and moving to sit back on her haunches. Of course she was speaking from her own personal experience. She lightly shook her head to keep from delving too deeply into those thoughts. “That’s why he needs cats there to remind him that he won’t be completely alone. You find a new family in way. Even it can’t replace the old one I think it will still help him.”
The warrior very slowly swallowed the poppy seeds. He watched Wildberry turn her back to him now to look after Redsky again. Swallowing thickly instead of laying down he very slowly shifted and sat up. The pain of doing so was etched into features. The movement caused alarm in the medicine cat as she hurried over to try to get him to go back down again. Dogclaw’s legs were shaking violently as he tried to support himself despite the unbearable pain he was in. “W..Whispersong...was...here...” His words were long and drawn out trying to keep himself upright. He needed to tell them even though they might already know.

Leafpaw's bit her lip as she saw her friend slumping down listening to her speaking. Leafpaw knew that she wasn't exactly inspiring the way she was speaking about the situation surrounding them. Her heart lurched a little in pain as Hazelrunner mentioned that Shadowpaw was still looking for a way to salvage the life of his father amidst all of the terror Nightstar was causing. In a strangely...understandable sense, he just wanted to have a father. A real one.
Gulping to herself, she returned to staring at her paws as she thought about how he would take it when he came to terms with the fact that they couldn't leave Nightstar alive. That was clear in Leafpaw's mine after all he had wrought to control Shadowclan and Riverclan. She felt it wasn't going to be easy for him and to that end she knew she needed to resolve herself to be the best friend she could.
She pulled in a breath slowly as Hazelrunner described in brief yet detailed words what it felt like and how one could deal with it. Leafpaw had to remember that this was something Hazelrunner had gone through in a varied manner. With how steady and strong she seemed it could be easy to forget the history of the warrior and how much she had struggled back then. Back when Leafpaw was a bit young to comprehend the loss of her friend. Her eyes lifted from her paws once more and tried to meet with Hazelruner's. There was a bit of blaze contained within her eyes that hadn't been a few moments ago. "You and me, then. We'll be there for him. His friends. If he thinks that he is alone, well..." Her heart beat with the conviction of her own promise reaffirming itself.
Though this moment might have been really inappropriate, the slightest sly grin twitched on her lips and she wasn't able to hold herself back. "Well, I suppose only I would be called a 'friend...'" There was a slight teasing tone in her voice.
He was too far to hear what Dogclaw had said, but once Wildberry began making a fuss within the medicine cat's den Ravenfang turned back quickly and peered inside, though he didn't enter for fear of losing his head to the medicine cat's teeth. He saw Dogclaw trying to get up and, not understanding the warrior's urgent call to attention, he quickly snapped at the warrior. "Dogclaw, what are you doing?!? Get down before you hurt yourself more!"

Hazelrunner perked as Leafpaw turned her eyes to meet her’s. She lifted her face a little to locked eyes with her friend. She could see a fire burning in her eyes hadn’t been there before. It gave her hope that her words had reached the apprentice. Her own expression brightened a little when she heard the conviction with her promise to be there for Shadowpaw as a friend. That was what he would need most coming forwards. It was good for him to have as many cats on his side as they could. The she-cat smiled to herself. “He’s a be mistaken if he thinks that he’s alone in all of this.” She smiled a little to herself.
She blinked seeing the sudden smirk appear on Leafpaw’s face. A moment later her face flushed at her friend’s sudden and abrupt implication about her and Shadowpaw’s relationship. “I’m just as much of his friend as you are.” The young warrior insisted with a light huff. She supposed it was really only fair. She’d teased her friend about Mousepaw’s crush on her. But, what did say about her and Shadowpaw. Sure they were close...still. The young warrior tried to blow past that thought.
Dogclaw barely noticed the fact that no one had really heard what he had to say, instead he was focused more on keeping himself upright while having Wildberry practically yowling in his ear to lay back down. It wasn’t wise for tom to risk reopening his wounds and hurting himself worse. Dogclaw was willing to risk it if it meant that they knew what happened to Whispersong. Ravenfang appeared just to scold him as well. Licking his chops he tried to keep his bearings. “W...whispersong...she was...here..” He croaked as he desperately tried to get the cats around him to understand what he was trying to tell him. His leg shook under him before they finally gave and he went collapsing back down on to the moss.

Leafpaw adopted an innocent expression and a higher than normal pitch of voice as Hazelrunner responded with flushed cheeks, only saying “oh, okay. My bad,” with a meaning flick of her tail. She kept a light smile on her face, remembering a few months ago when this was their normal. Making fun of each other and being best friends all the time. Now, everything had grown so much more complicated.
She laid back down on her side as the smile finally faded from her lips. “Tell me...in the hypothetical situation that we win...what do we do with Shadowclan? Who makes the new clan? Will it exist anymore?” She looked at Hazelrunner seriously, the humor of moments ago gone from her voice. “Where does Shadowpaw go?”
Ravenfang’s eyes widened slowly and any acolding thought immediately disappeared from his mind. Whispersong was here?!? Shadowclan hdid have her, and they must have barely missed her if Dogclaw was saying she had been here.
A dark thought clouded his mind. They must have taken her straight to Shadowclan, but what were they going to do with her? He had to imagine they were hungry for information and secrets, and probably more.
His ears flattened as Dogclaw fell to the floor of the den, and he almost stopped himself from speaking...but he needed to know. “How long, Dogclaw? How long ago?”

Hazelrunner sighed with relief as her cheeks slowly started to return to normal. Even though she was a little flustered she did find herself smiling. For a second it was like it had been a moon ago. Just a couple of friends talking. Of course that didn’t last more than a second before her smile faded seeing Leafpaw’s more serious expression.
The questions she had for her were ones Hazelrunner didn’t really have an answer for. It wasn’t going to be her decision to make. All of this would have to be decided by the leaders of the other three clans but, she’d try to give her own thoughts. “I think Shadowclan should stay as one of the clans. We need all four of the clans. There might still be good cats in Shadowclan even now.” She flicked her ears back a little. “I don’t know who would take control of Shadowclan afterwards. I’m not sure how the cats from Thunderclan and Riverclan will want to do.” It wan’t just Windclan’s decision. Riverclan and Thunderclan might want to get some sort of revenge for what Shadowclan had done.
Dogclaw was laying dazed on the den floor gasping and wheezing from the unimaginable pain that came over him. Clenching his eyes tightly he waited until the pain passed. He could hear the deputy’s frantic questions needed to know how long it had been. Swallowing thickly he peeled open his eyes trying to steady his breathing to give him an answer. He didn’t have a good sense of how much time had passed but, he had to do what he could do to help.
“N..not...long before..the battle...fresh blood.” The young tom sputtered panting and gasping loudly as he did so. Wildberry hissed at Ravenfang’s persisting questions before pushing past him to check on the downed warrior looking over his wounds. She breathed a sigh of relief seeing that she hadn’t reopened his wounds. Shaking her head she buzzed around the tom muttering to herself and lashing her tail from side to side.

“Herbs?” It was a clear question from Ravenfang as he didn’t have time to worry about angering Wildberry. If she needed something else for Dogclaw the deputy woyld get it, otherwise he was going to start worrying about Whispersong and trying to figure out what to do about her position in Shadowclan.
Leafpaw shook her head with a sigh. “I hope there are good cats over there, but even the ones who haven’t lost their hearts...I’m not even sure that Nightstar hasn’t found them. I don’t know. We definitely aren’t going to know until this is over.”
She gave a glance outside of the apprentice den, not looking for anything in particular. “And Shadowpaw...you think he stays here? I can’t imagine Rainstar will go back to wanting him gobe, whatever that...spell on her was.” Her gaze remained serious and didn’t seem to contain humor or a joke within it. “And I don’t think Shadowpaw has...anyone there. He seems to be close to Likyheart, and I don’t know if she will return, but...Ravenfang is on his side, and you, and I...Do you think he will stay? If we come out on the other side?” She bit her lip. Part of her wanted to just...ask him. But it was a hard question to simply release to the fragile cat.
