Hawktail was charging after him, seeming to be gaining round over Dogclaw. He glanced back in concern at the other warrior, trying to figure out why he was moving at a slower pace. "Hurry up! I can't do anything if they get you!" His voice was full of alarm.
Ravenfang checked to make sure that Wrenflight wouldn't be left behind, then headed along with Sprucestar at his brisk pace. It was time to finally strike back in some way against Shadowclan. He was not truly ready, but...he had to be.
Whispersong quietly thanked Frogstrike as she dropped the prey at his paws, glad to know that he truly wanted her to regain at least a little bit of strength. There was the slightest of smiles on her face as she bent down and began eating the prey wolfishly.

Dogclaw was falling behind. “I’m trying!” Dogclaw panted as he continued to struggle to get through the water. The pain in his shoulder was slowing him down quite a bit. He could hear the loud splashed of the Shadowclan warrior jumping into the water behind him. Despite the urgency of situation Dogclaw was loosing steam fast. The warrior was gasping for breath as he swallowed water. His legs wavered as he finally got to the shore. He clumsily scrambled away from the shore nearly tripping the mud as he scrambled to get away.
Wrenflight fell in with the rest of the cats in the patrol trying not to get trampled by all of the Thunderclan cats. She followed them all back towards camp with Sprucestar leading the way. Se followed the massive group of cats heading for the Windclan camp. She had a lot of mixes emotions about the fact that the attack was going to be starting soon. Ash they entered camp Wrenflight was not surprised by the sight of Otterfur already sitting in camp look at the large amount of cats made their way into the camp. Wrenflight ducked away from the overwhelming crowd and went to find Redsky.
Sprucestar strode into the Windclan camp as proud as ever. When he stepped into camp he gave a light nod towards the Riverclan deputy. The leader slowly glanced towards the dark sky above them. “We don’t have very long at all before the skies open up.” The Thunderclan leader muttered already starting to make his way up towards the leader’s den. Brackencall was trailing behind him with a noticeable bit of embarrassment as he looked at the other cats around camp. He gave them all nods of apology. Rosethorn trailed behind both of them humming to himself as they trotted up towards the den.
Frogstrike sat down watching her scarf down all the mouse seemingly in one bite. The medicine cat sighed seeming somewhat relieved that she had gotten her at least something. “I’m surprised that wound didn’t kill you sooner.” Frogstrike mewed after a long stretch of silence. It was a simple observation, but also a bit of a testament to her luck surviving so far.

Hawktail kept at his full pace, the hackles on the back of his neck raised as panic was beginning to take him. He had to get away, or Shadowclan would take him. Dogclaw was struggling a lot and he wasn't sure why; but if he slowed down too much Hawktail would not be able to fight the multiple Shadowclan warriors. He continued on.
There was an energy of mixed dread and collectedness amidst the Windclan camp. Speckleflower and Lavenderfur had spent every minute together that they could. Now, Lavenderfur sat near his kits, who were trying to play with him despite his netural, unplayful demeanor. He was gazing at them with the love of a parent, occassionaly grooming them a little. He needed to be with his mate before he went off for this.
Ravenfang gave a final, quiet sigh. This was the moment they were engaging in war. His eyes gazed around the camp at a number of the gathered warriors. He noticed almost immediately that Dogclaw was missing. His brother msut have been in the medicine cat's den, not attending the fight.
He heard a quiet call of his name, and when he turned, Rainstar was near him, that forever look of calmness and wisdom stuck on her face. He bowed his head to her for a couple moments. "Rainstar. I...I hope you will join us in battle." Even if he was defacto leader, he needed her paw in this.
Rainstar's gazed turned towards Sprucestar. "Sprucestar." She quietly murmured, dipping her head cordially, though nothing more, perhaps showing the slightest reservation. "Thunderclan, Windclan, and Riverclan, fighting together like the legend of moons and moons ago..." She sighed, almost seeming to approach what was happening with romanticization. "So, do I get to be Firestar?" She joked, not answering Ravenfang's question but implying that she would be joining them.
As the patrol stomped in, creating quite the ruckus, it was as if suddenly Shadowpaw was acutely aware of the battle that had only been in the back of his mind before. His gaze was panicked very suddenly, darting around the camp to multiple cats, until, finally, it rested on Hazelrunner. His ears went flat and his face adopted an expression of intense anxiety. He looked almost in pain as he stared at his friend, thinking about the battle that she would be participating in.
Leafpaw pulled in a deep breath as the patrol entered. She stood up quickly. "Hazelrunner...fight as hard as you can." She murmured quietly, giving her friend an affectionate nuzzle.

Dogclaw teetered trying to slog his way through the mud. He wasn’t going to be fast enough. The thought was clear to him all at once. He shouldn’t have slammed into that boulder like he did. He shouldn’t have agreed to come. He was running with everything he had, but he wasn’t running nearly at full speed. Hawktail was getting more and more distant while he knew the Shadowclan cats were gaining on him more and more.
His breath was coming out in frantic pants now. Then all at once he felt a weight slam hard into side. The force sent him crashing through the reeds to the riverbank separating Riverclan and Windclan. He was so close. Dogclaw growled as he was staring up a Shadowclan warrior standing over him sinking their claws deep into the tom’s side. Despite the throbbing shoulder he swung his claws at the cat catching their cheek. When the warrior recoiled he rolled himself right into the water, taking a deep breath of air as he was plunged into the dark water.
Speckleflower approached her mate sighing when she saw the kits fluttering around his paws. She settled down beside him putting her tail between the kits and Lavenderfur. A silent warning that it was time to leave him be. Drawing a deep breath she softly nuzzled her mate’s side. She was more nervous than anything about seeing him go into such a dangerous battle like this. “Make sure you come back.” She mumbled softly as she leaned her head against his shoulder.
Sprucestar turned his attention to the Windclan leader as she approached. The air between both leaders was noticably tense. “Rainstar.” Sprucestar made no effort to hide his grudge he was still holding towards Rainstar. The end of his tail twitch at Rainstar’s joke. “Should we decide who’s going to be the Mouse in the next game?” Sprucestar was pertty clearly irritated with the mention of Firestar.
Brackencall sighed as he looked towards his leader. “Anyway. We are leaving a few of our warriors here to help protect your camp. As a sign of thanks from our clan.” The deputy added trying to keep the converstation on track. “Do we have an idea of how we are going to proceed?” The deputy mewed seemingly taking over from Sprucestar despite his clearly bristling pelt.
Hazelrunner watched Leafpaw and slowly quickly nodded her head. “Those Shadowclan cats won’t know what hit them.” She smiled in a reassuring manner before she turned to see Shadowpaw darting around through the gathered cats to looking wild eyed. “Shadowpaw?” She mewed softly as she rose to her feet moving towards Shadowpaw with a concerned look.

Hawktail was charging forward as Dogclaw finally fell significantly behind. He didn't seem to notice any more until he was finally overtaken in a tumble of fur. He finally turned around for a brief moment, scanning around and calculating the situation they were in. There were four Shadowclan warriors. There wasn't anything that he could do. "F-fox-dung..." He stammered quietly. A couple of the warriors were still charging after him, and as he began to sweat profusely, he shook his head. "I'm sorry!" he yowled, panic in his voice, as he turned tail and fled from the scene.
Lavenderfur absentmindedly glanced down at his kits as they whined when their mother silently indicated they had had enough fun. How he missed when he didn't have to consider the presence of danger from a whole clan of warriors. When he was so carefree that each day was an adventure, instead of a challenge to be cautious of.
Still absentminded and distant, he leaned into Speckleflower in return and quietly breathed her in. "We are two clans. Everything will be fine." His words unmistakably were ringing hollow and lacking energy. This fight, it had dropped his spirits considerably.
Rainstar took in a short breath and lashed her tail as her attempt to at least loosen the tense noose between them was met with passive aggression. She had to let it go as Brackencall took over the conversation, voicing their plans. "Thank you. We all appreciate it, and we trust you have protected your camp as well?"
Once Shadowpaw's gaze had finished darting across the camp, and he saw that Hazelrunner was approaching him, he stood up and tried to plaster a smile over his expression of anxiety, though it failed miserably and looked more like a crying cat's impression of nothing being wrong.
He opened his mouth to speak, though as the chance came to him words seemed to fail him utterly, and he was left awkwardly staring at her with his mouth open below anxiety-ridden eyes.
Ravenfang felt the intensity of the moment beginning to hit him, as his heart was picking up pace and adrenaline was starting to surge through him. Looking around him, he didn't seem to rest his gaze on anyone until they met Otterfur, who he then made a straight line for.
"Otterfur," He quietly addressed the deputy, who seemed to be full of a desperate and ready energy. "We are going to get your camp back. We're going to free the captured cats." He cleared his throat quietly. "And you are going to be given the job of reconciling those who submitted with those who fought. I don't envy that." It was the most candidly Ravenfang had spoken to Otterfur since the rift between them had started, regarding Wrenflight. "But I hope that, once you are stable once more, we can count on your claws for...for however this whole thing is going to end."

The Shadowclan cats plunged into the water after the Windclan cat. Despite his desperate attempts to swim away, sharp claws sunk into his pelt. Slowly he was was drug out of the water and back on to the shore. Gasping for air he briefly caught sight of Hawktail’s pelt disappearing as the Shadowclan cats sunk their claws deeper into his pelt. Letting out another loud yowl as the warriors slowly started to pull him away from the shoreline. Despite his best efforts to break lose it but it was futile. The two Shadowclan cats grabbed on to his scruff and easily drug him towards Riverclan camp.
Speckleflower was painfully aware of the hollowness of his reassurances. “I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about then.” She muttered softly looking away from Lavenderfur down to their small kits. “Just don’t get hurt.” The she-cat curled her tail protectively around their kits. She needed him to come back safe.
Even if it was a sure victory it was still going to be a intense battle all the same. Speckleflower was nervous when he was gone on patrol.
Sprucestar lashed his tail, his pelt was slightly prickled with annoyance. “Our clan will be fine.” He assured rather shortly as he glanced around the camp with a frown.
Brackencall sighed flicking his tail a little as he looked over to Sprucestar. “Thank you for your concern. Our cats are taken care of.” The deputy responded in a more polite way.
Hazelrunner quickly made her way over to him, her face falling when she caught sight of Shadowpaw’s pained attempt at a smile. Flattening her ears against her head she came to his side. “Shadowpaw.” She mewed softly as she approached. “It’ll be alright I promise you.” She reassured with a light sigh as she looked at the apprentince. Both her friends were as worried about her as she was for them. Her chest hurt a little seeing just how terrifed he looked.
Otterfur kept to himself as the leaders talked. Everything he was working for was almost right in front of him. The fur was slowly rising along his spine as he looked down at paws. His claws sliding in and out as he thought of coming face to face with the cats that took his clan from him. His eyes locked with Ravenfang’s as his claws slid out yet again.
He slowly watched as Ravenfang slowly made his way towards him. The deputy slowly nodded as Ravenfang spoke honestly about the tough road ahead of him. “I don’t think anything could have prepared me for what lies ahead.” He admitted in a rare moment of honesty. “You will have all of the support that I can offer.” Otterfur’s eyes sparked. The deputy would do anything possible to topple Nightstar especially once Shadowclan was run out of his clan.

Rainstar nodded curtly as she felt the stark contrast of disposition between Sprucestar and his deputy. At least Brackencall was trying to be polite, even if he too was prideful. "Getting into the camp will be a tough part simply because of the water. Because of this, we should send in our toughtest cats first to keep Shadowclan from swarming the entrance and blocking us out. That way, the rest of us can flow in and get to battle."
Lavenderfur quietly sighed along with a nod. Ebonykit was gazing up at Speckleflower with a gaze of confusion. "Is he going somewhere bad?" his question was curious as a kit, but he seemed to at least have the maturity of later kithood to take the word 'hurt' seriously.
Lavenderfur bit his lip, wishing his kit hadn't asked the question. Guilt was now prickling at his pelt.
Shadowpaw gave a quiet whine as she tried reassuring him that the battle was going to be okay. "Y-you can't fight my dad," He mewed suddenly, though it didn't come across as an order. More than that, it was something between a plea and a prayer. "You won't win. Please promise me you won't do that?" There was desperation in his voice, the desperation of a cat that believed a friend was close to facing her death. Perhaps it could be attributed to him not knowing the true Warrior Code, but his request was obviously impossible by it--it could mean allowing a clanmate's death.
Ravenfang was listening closelyto what Otterfur was saying, trying to pick up drips of dishonesty or perhaps reservedness, but he, even to his own surprise, felt a genuine aura through Otterfur's words as he admitted the challenge of what was coming, as well as the reckoning that would be had against Shadowclan. Amidst the dreariness and intensity of the coming battle, Ravenfang felt a growing solidarity with the cat in front of him. "We will finish talking strategy, and then we are going." He dipped his head to Otterfur, then turned back towards the group.
Tawnyface sat in one corner of the camp, watching the group of cats and listening to their planning for the attack. It was strange watching this being planned out, and, though she was not irking to act to stop it, she knew how compromising and dividing it was for her to allow this to happen unquestioned. Even if she was sheltering here, determined to make up for her murder, it wasn't easy.
There was another minute of discussion, mainly between Rainstar and Brackencall while the two clans' participating members gathered around to listen. It had been a long time since a battle, and there were ants in the pelts of almost every cat.
Then, to make matters more tense, a yowling Hawktail came thrashing through the entrance to the camp, heaving and sweating immensely. He had been running a great deal. "Got...they...Dogclaw...captured...River..." The warrior tried pulling in oxygen after his broken words, but before he could the warrior flopped onto the ground, unconscious. Unfortunately, he failed to mention Whispersong before passing out.

Speckleflower struggled to keep her expresion somewhat calm when Ebonykit asked a far more pointed question then he realized. Cinderkit perked up at the thought of their father going into danger. “Nothing’s too dangerous for him.” Cinderkit assured still having a blind optimism that the world was a lot brighter and safer than it really was. She licked the top of each kit’s head. “He’ll be back soon. Safe and sound.” She wrapped her tail tighter around the two kits. She wasn’t going to be able to keep them from the truth of how dangerous things were for much longer. They would become apprentices soon and see it for themselves.
Hazelrunner’s face froze in astonishment at Shadowpaw’s sudden plea for her to promise she wouldn’t try to fight his father. As much as she wanted to see Nightstar be defeated she knew better than to try to fight him unless...That was the cat. She didn’t know for sure what would happen out there and she knew if she could help it she would try to save her clanmates if it came to that. She swallowed a thick lump in her throat and despite her reservations nodded her head very slowly. “I-I promise.” The young warrior mewed although it was one promise she might not be able to keep.
Whatever personal grudges Otterfur might hold for the deputy, he still respected him for the things he had done for him and his clanmates, even if he still didn’t agree with what had been happening between he and Wrenflight. Right now it was about working towards the common goal of getting Riverclan back. “We’ll be ready.” Nodding his head he jumped down from the rock to gather up his clanmates. Redsky practially had to peel a crying Applepaw off her side and Wrenflight trialed behind her. Despite all of the reassurances Redsky tried to give Applepaw still seemed completely convinced that he was going to lose his mother now.
Otterfur tried to ignore the guilt he felt and lead the two she-cats to join Brackencall and Rainstar. The three Riverclan cats seemed ready for whatever was about to come.
Despite the hesitance of Sprucestar to hand over reins to his deputy, Brackencall watched him slip away, to go find his son among the crowd. The young tom was visibly shaking which even he could see. The strategy was fairly straight forwards. Otterfur would take the first group of cats across the river, the strongest cats first and Wrenflight and Redsky would follow with their groups. Brackencall seemed rather intent on the coming battle himself. It was a way to release a lot of the growing unease.
Longshadow sat among the warriors gathered although was clearly annoyed. He had been arguing with Wildberry to let him fight. The medicine cat stubbornly would not budge about it. The senior warrior slowly made his way forwards to make his way over towards Tawnyface who was clearly having her own mixed thoughts about all of this. He didn’t say anything, but settled down beside her with a loud grunt. He kept silent as they went over their plans. He glanced over at Tawnyface occasionally. He found himself hoping she wouldn’t get herself killed. He sighed and shook his head.
All eyes turned as Hawktail of all cats came crashing through the bushes. As soon as he said Dogclaw and captured Longshadow was on his paws lumbering over to the cat. He clearly wants more answers even if if he clearly wasn’t going to provide it. He slowly helped Wildberry carry him into the medicine cat den. Longshadow looking like he was staring into a monster’s headlights at the news. There was a sense of urgency as he moved through the cats towards Rainstar and Ravenfang. “Dogclaw has been taken and is in Riverclan camp.” It wasn’t exactly what Hawktail had managed to get out, but he figured that had to be what he had meant to say. There was a clear desperation to the tom. “I need to go with you.”

Lavenderfur felt a cold chill spreading over him as his mate gave their kits a reassurance that she couldn't be certain about. Ebonykit looked confused and uncertain at the reassurance and glanced at his father for confirmation, but was only met with a blank, distant look, which didn't make him feel any better about the matter.
Shadowpaw's eyes flickered with his anxiety as she ruminated on the question, and the longer the silence between them held the more worried he became that she was going to say that she couldn't. Becauuse of that it came as a relief to him when she promised not to get into a fight with his father. He let out a breath, not really from relief but at least a release of some amount of apprehension. "You...you'll stay safe, right? You'll come back?" He quietly asked the question, almost echoing what Leafpaw had said. It seemed they both relied on her friendship now, yet Shadowpaw seemed ever less collected and calm than Leafpaw had.
Leafpaw's ears flattened back against her head as she watched the gathering Riverclan warriors preparing for battle. In particular, it seemed her gaze was on Applepaw as the apprentice was sobbing his eyes nearly dry about his mother's departure for the battle.
She slowly stood up, trailing over towards that direction as her heart ached for the cat. She didn't know what it felt like to lose a parent, but she still felt compelled to approach the Riverclan apprentice as Redsky finally had to peel off of his mother.
There was a quiet low grunt in response as Longshadow settled in beside the Shadowclan cat, who didn't make any attempts at conversation. She was obviously feeling oddly about what was going on, but it didn't look like she was planning anything rash.
As the whole camp was shut into a silence when Hawktail barreled through and passed out, a variety of reactions sounded through the camp. Leafpaw, nearly by Applepaw's side, gasped and backed up a pawstep at the news. Her eyes quickly turned to Ravenfang, a sudden alarmedness within them. That had to be really bad! Would they use him as a hostage?
Ravenfang's eyes grew wide with shock as his brother entered the camp, from the outside, and passed out after stammering the warning out of his lungs. he was set to move quickly towards them but Longshadow and Wildberry were at his side in mere instants, hauling him into the medicine cat's den. Before he knew it, Longshadow and Tawnyface were standing before him and numerous other cats were suddenly whispering with an alarm he wasn't ready to handle in this moment.
"You're not going!" was the authoritative snap from Tawnyface as the senior warrior vied to be taken along. There was no way he was back to full shape and this was going to be a vicious fight.
Lavenderfur's eyes grew wide and there seemed to be a focus that returned to him as Hawktail's news hit the camp. He realized with a hiss that there was no way to hide the danger of this situation from their kits.
Ebonykit suddenly turned around, squeezing out from his mother's tail and taking a couple steps towards the large group of gathered cats. "What? Did...did he say...Dogclaw was...?" His voice was becoming a scared squeak as he turned to look back at his parents. "W-whats happening?!?" His voice was shaking.

Speckleflower frowned when Lavenderfur returned his kit’s gazes with a rather distant and unemotional look. Flattening her ears against her head she turned back to look towards the the gather cats. Clearly uneasy about her mate’s blank expression. The kits needed to know that he was coming back, she needed to know that he was coming back. Even if it was false hope. It was all she could tell herself to keep her from trying to talk him out of going.
To his questions of if she would be safe and make it back she was far quicker about nodding her head far quicker. “I promise I’ll make it back.” She mewed softly with a light nod. It was far easier to promise that she would do her best to stay safe and come back. She would fight as hard as she could to come back for Leafpaw and Shadowpaw.
The young Riverclan cat had tears streaming down his face as Redsky left him to join the other cats. Applepaw was practically shaking in his own fur. It was a living nightmare for him. The thought of losing Redsky to Shadowclan like his father. He couldn’t take it. Sniffling he crouched low to ground not caring that two clans of cats was able to see him. He didn’t look up at first when Leafpaw made her way over towards him. He only looked up when she practically right in his line of sight. He looked up at her still sniffing with tearstained cheeks.
Hazelrunner snapped her head immediately. Through the sea of cats all she could make out was Hawktail being carried into the medicine cat den. She stood up and strained to hear the cause through the whispering cats. Her eyes rounded when she finally was able to hear for herself what had happened. Dogclaw was taken. She folded her ears back in uncertainty. Her eyes briefly flickered to Shadowpaw before turning to Ravenfang and the other leaders expecting an answer to this sudden development like many other cats.
Longshadow snapped his head around to Tawnyface. Instead of being angry he looked more desperate than anything. “I can’t do nothing while he’s killed.” He hissed more out of frustration than anything else.
Speckleflower’s mouth fell open as the news rippled through camp. “Dear Starclan.” She muttered completely shocked. She only startled back to reality when she felt Ebonykit slip away from her. “Ebonykit come back here.” She mewed quickly standing up. She almost couldn’t bare to look at Ebonykit’s terrified expression without her heart breaking. They couldn’t keep them away from all of this, not matter how hard she was trying to do so. “Dogclaw was taken little one. Shadowclan took him.” The queen admitted very quietly as if she didn’t want him to hear her say it.
“A-are they coming for us?” Cinderkit squeaked full of terror as he looked from his sibling then to his parents, fur puffed up.
The confusion and uproar surrounding the camp happened almost in the blink of an eye. Cats were mumbling and fretting. He frowned when he caught sight of cats seeming to be overwhelming Ravenfang. Things were getting out of control. Pushing his way back through he gathered up his muscles to jump up back with the other cats. “We need silence.” The leader’s roar echoed through the camp as he stood tall and proud glaring at the cats below them. His own cats were immediately quietly at their leader’s order.
Brackencall was surprised by the sudden turn of events. One of the Windclan cats had been taken. When that news got out it was like a wave crashing over them. This made the situation even more tricky than it had been. He sighed standing himself up to prepare and try to get some order, but was quickly cut off by Sprucestar jumping back up to join them and drawing the cat’s attention again. The deputy frowned and quickly cleared his throat to take advantage to brief silence. “We will need to decide how to proceed from here. Sit tight until then.” Brackencall turned to look at the cats gathered up. He paused to look at Ravenfang. “If you need go check on your brother.” He muttered quietly to him as he sat down. They needed to choose a course of action quickly. The Windclan cats probably weren’t going to like what he had to propose either.

Shadowpaw seemed heavily relieved as she much more quickly and much more easily promised to return from the battle. It was something of a relief even as his anxiety of her marching into a battle remained. He stepped forward, close to her, about to nuzzle her affectionately--then, Hawktail burst through the entrance, interrupting him as Hazelrunner snapped away to see it.
Shadowpaw's ears folded back like Hazelrunner's and he stepped back, terror replacing the anxiety that had been there before. Hearing this erased any of the relief that Hazelrunner had given him, and as his mouth gaped open in shock, he immediately began panicking at the prospect of Hazelrunner being captured.Ebonykit quickly began shaking, hunkering down onto the floor of the camp as his mother gave him the horrible news. Something flashed in Lavenderfur's eyes as he saw the reaction of his kits, and something pulled him out of his distant trance. He pulled himself forward, pulling his kits closer with his tail and snuggling in close to them. "Hey, hey, hey...Dogclaw is strong--and we are going to handle it right now. We're going to go get him back. Okay? Don't you worry, because your dad is going with our clan and Thunderclan to fix this."Tawnyface hissed loudly as Longshadow voiced his desperation. She was stuck on his bad condition, but he knew she wasn't wrong--they were going to kill him. Eventually. It was almost a rule for the captured, strong tom-cats. Her tail lashing, she was about to speak when the roar sounded, and Ravenfang's voice soon followed.Ravenfang sucked in a deep breath as Sprucestar quieted the two clans of cats, squaring his shoulders and looking around at the cats surrounding him. "I know this is shocking, especially for my Windclan clanmates, but we were already going to Riverclan on a mission of liberation! We are going to free Riverclan, and we are going to free Dogclaw as well." The words were a hard sell even for himself, as he knew that Dogclaw as a hostage would leave them hard-pressed to do anything. Still, the Riverclan probably worried about that themselves, andf still were joining for this mission. "All this changes is that we're going in to stop one more injustice committed at the paws of Nighstar," It was a passionate growl that sounded from his throat, the murder of his could-of-been lover bleeding into the statement.
"We move fast, we strike quickly, and both Dogclaw and the Riverclan prisoners will be rescued without more harm," the equally passionate voice of Rainstar sounded soon after her deputy's ended. "We have far more cats than they will when we show up--we will do this fast, and we will then be three clans strong. Nightstar himself won't dare to strike at three clans united unplanned. We still have this opportunity."

Hazelrunner audibly swallowed when it became clear that Shadowpaw now more terrified than he had been before. She sighed softly sidestepping closer to the tom. She didn’t know what to say now that would make him feel any better. She was already starting to feel a sense of hopelessness herself. Hesitating a little she looked over at the young tom-cat opening her mouth before she jolted to attention with Sprucestar’s load roar.
Staring up at Ravenfang and Rainstar as they tried ro rouse the cats of the two clans. Taking a deep breath she pushed the doubt aside. Puffing her chest out a little she reminded herself of what they were going to do. With a light flick of her tail she sat up a little taller beside Shadowpaw. She would do her part to help Riverclan and she would make it back for Shadowpaw and Leafpaw. She would make certain of it.
Longshadow fell quiet as the leaders took control again. His shoulders slouched forwards, even despite Ravenfang’s and Rainstar’s impassioned words. Even if he didn’t want to admit it to himself, this wasn’t his fight. He gave a loud sigh of resignation. Tail falling to the ground he turned to look at Tawnyface clearly rather crestfallen. “I’ll stay out of this.” His eyes flickered towards Ravenfang. “Do what you can to bring him back please?” The dark tom mewed quietly turning and making his way through the crowd of cats.
Cinderkit looked on the verge of tears looking this way and that. He squeaked in surprise as Lavenderfur wrapped his tail around the two of them. Looking up with awe he swallowed his fear. “You really promise?” The small kit questioned looking from Lavenderfur to Speckleflower who offered him a genuine smile. “Yes of course it will little one.” The queen mewed softly as she licked both of their heads.
The Riverclan deputy sighed as unease rippled through the camp. He only looked up when the Windclan cats voiced their support for continued with the attack as planned, but they’d have to act quickly. Otterfur gave them both of a nod of gratitude. There did seem to be an upswing in the mood of the cats around camp. Clearing his throat he stood himself up tall with the rest of the leaders. He paused as the first drops of rain started to fall. “There are no words to express the gratitude of the Riverclan cats for what you all have done. I’m sorry to ask you this last favor, but Riverclan will be there when the time comes I promise you that.” Otterfur spoke up glancing over his shoulder at Ravenfang and Rainstar.
Even the Thunderclan leader seemed roused by the Windclan cats’ speeches, or at least appeared to be. Sprucestar puffed himself up taller as the rain started to fall from the sky. “We will strike fast and we will attack hard. Shadowclan will not know what hit them!” He hissed loudly looking down at the cats below them, his claws digging into the stone below him. “There’s no more time to waste. It’s time to move.” The Thunderclan leader jumped down from the rock to break up the cats into groups so they could be off with this.

Ravenfang would not have minded strategizing a little more, but he felt an energy passing through the various clans, like a contagion, yet one of drive and determination for the battle ahead of them. A few more minutes of this wasn't worth the dread that had been there moments before. Unsheathing his claws, Ravenfang readied to leave, setting a brisk pace towards the exit of camp with Rainstar by his side. He didn't seem to notice Leafpaw's shaky gaze fixed on him, yearning to speak with him before he left; Despite taking a moment to promise Longshadow that they would get Dogclaw back, he had exited the camp before Leafpaw managed to say anything to grab his attention.Lavenderfur stood up slowly after licking his kits' fearful fur down, and turning to nuzzle his mate, ignoring that their kits were there. "Of course, loves. I'll be back soon with Dogclaw, you understand?" Tawnyface stood tall by Longshadow as the cats began filing out of the camp, a giant glob of fur that represented the uniting nature of this conflict despite the remaining tension. It was something to see. "I've...only seen this many cats at...at the Gatherings." She murmured. "I...I know it might just make me slow, but..." She glanced to the side at Longshadow. "I didn't realize a cat like my leader could...could inspire such..." She pulled in a deep breath, then released it. "Nightstar always says that the pride of Thunderclan, the independence of Windclan, and, well...the musk of Riverclan keeps them separated. I never thought..."
Shadowpaw didn't hold himself in this moment of terror, not seeming to lose his anxieties after hearing the speech. He pressed into Hazelrunner, burying his muzzle in her shoulder and pressing his side into her's as he did. "You have to come back safe," He repeated, though with far more fear than had been there before. There was a slight shake to his body, like he couldn't keep his fear from expressing itself physically. He seemed...well, it seemed like he was fragile thinking about her not coming back.
Ravenfang hadn't been enforcing the arbitrary barrier between them, and he was ready to start training with her again. "I...I have to train with you, and learn how to be a warrior and patrolling, there's still..." He gulped, choking on his words, and seeming to be fighting back tears. "I need you." It was a quiet whimper.

Otterfur sighed when he saw that Redsky had disappeared from her spot beside Wrenflight. She had gone back to tell Applepaw one last goodbye, but was standing noticably distant in case he decided to try and stop her from leaving again. Once she had come back Otterfur lead the way for the Riverclan cats as they all seemed to surge out at one. It was hard not to get swept up in the feeling that was being carried around by all three clans now. He needed to believe it was true that they were going to finally be able to retake Riverclan. He wanted his clan back more than anything. The three Riverclan cats split apart with some last mumbled words of encouragement among them. The groups started to slowly form around them. Redsky was noticeably much more somber and Wrenflight had been mostly quiet on the matter. Still, he was sure they were all ready for this.
Specklflower sighed softly letting some of the tension out of her shoulders as she briefly nuzzled, ignoring the muffled “Ew” from Cinderkit who was not pressing tight up against his mother’s side. “I know you will.” The queen mewed softly before looking down to the both of their kits prompting Cinderkit to sit up straighter quickly nodding his head.
Longshadow slowly watched the stream of cats filing out of camp. Despite his own reservations he did still appreciate the deputy promising to bring Dogclaw back. The tom just hoped it was a promise he could actually fulfill. It might be too late even now. He flicked an ear to Tawnyface. He sighed softly at her awe of seeing the three different clans coming together like this. “I heard about in some nursery stories, but I never thought I would see it with my own eyes.” The older tom admitted sitting up a tiny bit straighter. Talking about it seemed to be taking his mind off of Dogclaw. “There might just be somethings that will trump...um..musk then and it takes a great leader to be able to see that fact.” The senior warrior mewed with a light shrug he really wasn’t much for inspiring words himself.
Hazelrunner blinked as Shadowpaw buried his nose in her fur and started to shake beside her. The she-cat wrapped her tail around him her eyes softening. “Of course I will.” Her voice was quieter than before, but still held the confidence in the fact that she was coming back. Giving him a lick on the cheek she offered a rather sad smile as he insisted that she still needed to be there to train him and teach him how to be a warrior. “I won’t leave alone for long. I’m coming right back and we’ll start training again soon. Trust me.” She mewed with a reassuring smile as she slowly uncurled her tail from around him. The camp was almost entirely empty now.
”I’ll see you soon, Shadowpaw.” She mummered laying her chin on top of his head briefly. With that she heard the loud call for the warriors to get to their patrols. “I’d better go.” Reluctantly she stood herself up and moved to join the rest of the cats leaving camp. The young warrior paused when she saw a clearly anxious Leafpaw. She flattened her ears a little wondering if Ravenfang had stopped to say goodbye himself. She offered Leafpaw one last wave of her tail before she disappeared through the entrance.

Leafpaw and Shadowpaw were both left as anxious messes as they were left behind to ponder the results of the battle until they heard some sort of news. Shadowpaw was only left to take what small comforts Hazelrunner provided him before turning away and joining the escrot of clans. Leafpaw absentmindedly waved her tail back at Hazelrunner as her friend left the camp.
Ravenfang and Rainstar marched with Otterfur, Sprucestar and Brackencall at the head with their wave of tough warriors. Ravenfang had somewhat unconsciously set a brisk, fast pace for all of the cats, not wanting to lose the energy that had been passing through them. This attack was happening, and, in truth, Windclan had made it happen like this. They were fighting for a chance to stop the damage Shadowclan had already done.
Tawnyface did not say anything else, watching Hazelrunner, the last warrior, being feely with Shadowpaw. Grunting with something unrecognizable, she thought about the deal that the two of them had made together. If she got killed out there, Tawnyface would be really angry.
Lavenderfur lingered for a few moments longer in the embrace of his mate, before sighing quietly and saying farewell, and that he would return soon, pointedly glancing at his kits as he did so.
