Hazelrunner smiled softly as Leafpaw agreed, seeming a tiny bit more at ease. It was a little bit of weight off her shoulders. “Maybe he doesn’t need another cat looking out for him, but I don’t know what will happen while we’re away.” She admitted with her ears folded back a little. There was a lot that could happen in a battle like this. Nightstar might bring reinforcements with him. She looked up at the clouds getting darker and darker. It was hard not to feel this uneasy about this big of a battle. Sighing she softly shook her head. There was no use dreading it. That wouldn’t help anyone.
Dogclaw sighed as he looked over the tiny spot they had to work with. “There probably will be. Maybe we can draw them out.” He mewed as he looked at a few large rocks near the shore on the other side. “If we thrown one of those in water right before we go through it might draw their attention, hopefully long enough.” There was a lot guessing involved. All they could really do is hope.
Once they’d made up their minds Dogclaw started to look towards the churning water. “First we have to try not to drown.” He muttered in a bit of morbid humor. He slipped down into the water having to hold back a yelp of surprise at just how cold it really was.
Wrenflight took a moment to lick off the last of the dirt from her pelt while she waited for an answer. When he finally agreed albeit somewhat reluctantly she smiled to herself and sat down nudging the rabbit towards him. She shrugged at him adding that they weren’t very good warriors. “Maybe we can find something on the way back to make up for it.” She suggested laying herself down beside the rabbit. “Now stop being a spoil sport.” She mewed with a flick of her tail before taking a bit of the rabbit herself. Nope still not as good as fish, but it was okay.
Frogstrike rolled his eyes as she cowered away from him. He took some satisfaction in the fact that his act was convincing enough even to scare her offf. It also was nice to have vexed Petalstream, again. “If you don’t let me see your wound I can’t treat it.” He mewed simply as he trotted towards the herb store slipping in between the rocks. When appeared again he was carrying a bundle of proper herbs now that he was able to actually treat the wound in peace.
He stepped towards her growling at the fact she was still curled up defensively. “It was an act you mousebrained cat!” He hissed her ear with a roll of his eyes. He had just risked his pelt to keep her from dying now he was going to have to deal with all of this. Maybe he just should have kep this mouth shut.
“Now let me see that wound. I don’t need you dying on me anyway.” He prodded very roughly at her side, clearly not in a patient mood to deal with this.

Leafpaw bit her lip, a sneaking fear beginning to creep up throughher as Hazelrunner said there was no way of knowing what would happen. "You...you don't think he'll...attack here?" There was clear fear in her voice. "I...We couldn't...defend from a clan of warriors..." Her ears folded back and her fur fluffed up. "Nightstar wouldn't show anyone here mercy."Hawktail sighed with discomfort prickling his pelt. This was relying on so many variables that they could not control, and he hated it. "Let's go..." He nodded with a voice of apprehension. They were either going to die very soon, or...maybe discover if Whispersong was there. Why had he launched this plan?Ravenfang listened at the suggestion, thinking it wasn't a bad idea. They could hopefully find something despite the coming cold season and the dreary storm clouds looming overhead. He seemed to be growing distracted by the sky above him when she barked at him to quit spoiling their moment. Obediently lowering himself to the rabbit, he took the first bite and pushed it back towards Wrenflight.
Whispersong tried ignoring the medicine cat as he implored her to see the wound. She knew what he was doing; he wanted her on her back, and then...she made herself as small and compact as possible, as he continued speaking. Her ears perked up and she glanced back at him. The fear in her eyes was still clear and present, but she seemed to be evaluating what he had said. She thought about how well he had played to insulting her and appealing to the leader. Was he truly that good of an actor? The cranky Shadowclan medicine cat?
It seemed she evaluated in his favor, as she slowly rose and resettled in the nest on her side, laying with a small cry of pain. It had bled a lot and her belly was matted and wet with blood. Even if she was mouse-brained, it seemed she was durable.

Hazelrunner felt a pang of guilt as she watched Leafpaw start to react to the idea that Nightstar might attack here. She shouldn’t have said anything. “I don’t think he will. Hopefully, he won’t know about it until we’ve already made it back.” It wasn’t the best reassurance, but she didn’t know if there was a lot of reassurance she could offer. “I think there are supposed to be some Thunderclan warriors that are going to stay in Windclan just in case though.” Her voice trailed off as she looked up at the dark sky.
The young tom nodded his head softly as he slowly ventured further into the cold water, up to his chest. There was no going back now. Dogclaw slowly pushed himself off of the river bottom. Dogclaw drew in a deep breath trying to quietly paddle through the water. He tried to imagine it as running along they moor, but it wasn’t it an easy thing. He had to gasp for air as his head occasionally began to dip below the surface. It felt like an agonizing long stretch of time he felt solid ground under him. He practially had to drag himself on to the shore. Getting his wits about him he blinked several times as he turned to make sure that Hawktail had made it across himself.
He slowly moved himself towards the barrier weak point. He had to hold back the urge to hack up the water in his lungs. This already felt like it was going to end well. It was too late to turn back now.
Wrenflight flicked her ears towards Ravenfang as he seemed to get caught up looking at the gloomy sky above them. Her eyes drifted up towards the darkened sky. It didn’t look like cloud sky were going to clear up any time soon. She seemed a bithappier when he started to eat the rabbit with her. She took a bite for herself she hummed lightlly. “I think this rabbit tastes better than any rabbit I’ve ever had.” Wrenflight mewed shifting as she licked the blood from her maw.
Frogstrike kept frowning although did seem to relat the tiniest bit when she finally uncoiled herself enough to let him get a good look at what her wound looked like now. He tensed up again when he saw the blood coating her nest and hr belly. He leaned in close to begin to lick away the blood from the wound on her belly. “This isn’t going to heal in less than a moon.” Frogstrike hissed to himself as he began to coat and patch up the wound not offering much sympathy to the wounded she-cat.
As he sorted through his herbs, he paused briefly as he saw the fear still visible in her eyes. “Your friends won’t be able to rescue you in under a moon either.” His words were rather blunt and direct. The medicine cat knew there were two ways out of this. Neither one was a very pleasant. But, he would do everything in his power to keep himself alive.
The tom-cat chewed up a paste keeping his eyes on her. Spitting it out he scrapped it over her wound and laid cobwebs over that. It at least slowed the bleeding for now.

Leafpaw bit her lip. "Really? I would think they would prioritize their elders and kits first..." she quietly murmured, more to herself than in response. "But if they are then I definitely do not mind." She sighed quietly.
Her gaze slowly drifted up to the sky with her friend. Were her parents going to be watching over her during a time like this? Were they even clan cats, in Starclan? She hoped so. She needed to be able to think that someone would be keeping an eye out for her, but...she didn't know if she really believed it.
Hawktail followed along reluctantly, having identical trouble's with the travel through water. He pulled in a deep breath beforehand but quickly found himself desperate for oxygen and fumbling to get his head above for air as the water tried to pull him down.
Once he neared Dogclaw and felt ground, he began sighing with relief and taking in air, trying not to be too loud now that they were near the den.
Ravenfang gave a light laugh and shook his head. "That must be because you caught it." He quietly murmured, though there was something of a lack of cheer to his words. His mind was drifting somewhere else at this moment. "I'm glad you were able to get that."
Whispersong turned into a mess of pained mews and hisses, both feeling dread over the grim portrait Frogstrike was painting, as well as immense pain as he fiddled with the wound while trying to fix it up. "I...I can...try to...aggghh!!" As he scraped the paste over it the wound stung heavily. It was definitely becoming infected.
"I can...try to...get out..." She hissed. "But if...I do...then you'll...they'll probably kill you..."

The she-cat nodded with a light shrug. “That is what Rosethorn told the patrol this morning when he met him at the border.” Thunderclan had been very selective about the information they were giving. They were running on their own schedule. But, she wasn’t opposed to having some of their warriors here to protect the camp just in case.
She squeezed her eyes shut and said a quiet prayer to Starclan. All she could do is hope that their ancestors would watch over them. She hoped her parents were watching as well. They would probably have a better idea of what to do than she ever did. This was her first large scale battle she’d officially was going to be apart of as a warrior. That was a bit of an unsettling thought to her.
Dogclaw waited for Hawktail to catch up before slowly approaching the barrier. Looking at it closely it was easy to see that it had been repaired in a patchwork fashion. It wouldn’t take much to dismantle it from the outside. He looked over his shoulder and motioned a rock perched up just on the shore. It was his way of telling Hawktail he was going to go ahead and push the large rock into the water. He sighed to himself before squaring up against the rock. Slamming his shoulder hard into the rock he had to bite his tongue to stop a loud yelp of pain. Still, it was enough force to send the rock rolling and splashing loudly into the water. Dogclaw limped back towards Hawktail as quickly as he could, not putting much weight on his right front leg as he did so.
Crouching down and doing his best to blend in with the limited cover to hide in. His heart was hammering out of his chest at this point.
“Ugh.” She mewed in quiet agreement as she quietly looked over the tom. It clearly not getting past her the fact that he clearly had something else on his mind. “Are you worried about the attack?” She asked in the most straight forward way she knew how. There no use dancing around the bush. It was a big deal, especially to the Riverclan cats. Wrenflight through had been noticeably quiet on the matter compared to Redsky, Applepaw, and especially Otterfur. All of them were completely on board. All Redsky could talk about was getting their home back. Wrenflight still hadn’t mentioned the fact that she wasn’t planning to go back quite yet.
Frogstrike could tell from the wound alone it was infected not to mention the reactions she had to him touching it. He was fairly unflinching to the idea of himself dying. He got threatened with that option enough that he didn’t blink at it much when it was brought up. That still didn’t mean that he was willing to actually die. “I don’t plan on leaving my clan and you wouldn’t make it far with that wound anyway.” Frogstrike sighed to himself at this mess he’d gotten himself into. He should have just let her die of her own stupidity. Lilyheart had clearly taught him something.
”There had only been one time that there was an opening to escape and that was when Nightstar went to attack Riverclan. His she-cats got away. I’m sure he won’t make that happen again.” He muttered rather darkly before turning to go into his herb store again to get something for the infection his tail lashing from side to side behind him.

Hawktail seemed uncertain what this signal meant at first, but once Dogclaw began heading towards the rock he seemed to catch on. He stepped well out of the way and got himself ready for something of a splash.
The water about soaked him after the rock smacked into the pool of water, and he shook himself quietly, getting a little bit of water off without making too much noise, an annoyed look on his face. He didn't seem to notice Dogclaw limping and, getting ready for the absolute worst, his heart racing, Hawktail prepared himself.
Ravenfang's gaze returned to her very quickly as she bluntly posed the question, not having been ready for the topic to come up so suddenly. He bit his lip, nodding in response as he did so, trying to choose his next words carefully. he knew that Wrenflight was feeling uncertain about what home was, but he still had to ask this. "Are you coming to fight for Riverclan's camp?" It wasn't the same as going back. But, he had to know how Wrenflight felt about participating in the battle. If his attention was correct, Wrenflight was close to Redsky and could conceivably still feel it was right to help win back the camp and liberate their clanmates. But he was asking to make sure.
Whispersong went utterly silent as Frogstrike hit her with more grim takes on how this was likely to go. Well, she knew he was right about her wound. She wasn't moving fast with this pain. aybe she could convince him to leave? That was going to be really hard. She would have to think about what to say, because he certainly didn't seem that friendly to the idea.

Soaked to the bone and his shoulder throbbing Dogclaw was praying to whatever ancestors were there that Whispersong was in that camp. His ears flicked forwards to try and catch any commotion coming from inside the camp. He pressed further to the ground when he heard a commotion from inside. A moment later he could see the entrance of the camp being disturbed. He waited a heartbeat or two longer to see where the cats were looking that came out of the camp. He couldn’t wait to see if they were distracted for long. The dark coated tom prowled quickly towards the weak spot. Unsheathing his claws he hacked at it as quickly as possible. He sighed when he caught the light streaming through from inside the camp. Peaking his eye through it he coud make out a few cats all looking towards the entrance. He slowly started to peel away at the rest of the barriers.
The she-cat shifted a little when he quickly turned to look at her before nodding his head. Sighing she looked down at the half eaten rabbit between them. “Yeah me too.” She admitted with a bit of uneasiness to her voice. It had been stormy teh night Shadowclan had attacked Riverclan. She blinked her eyes as thought about the chaos and sheer helplessness of the situation. She was nervous they’re attack would fail and it would make things worse instead of better.
His question didn’t stir a reaction out of her immediately. But, she did seem to snap out of it after a moment. “Yeah. I owe that to them.” Wrenflight nodded her head, claws sinking into the grass beneath her. Despite her apprehension she still couldn’t sit something like this out. She had to do this, for the other Riverclan cats, for her friends, for her leader, and for her sister.
When he reappeared with more herbs his mood only seemed to be progressively getting worse. Setting the herbs aside he looked at her wound with a critical eye and the bloodstained moss beneath it. “Your going to need to move to my nest.” He motioned to the large nest at the back of den. “You bled all over the last of the clean moss I had.” He didn’t wait until she got to her paws to start to pull away some of the bloodstained moss. If she was going to try and convince him to flee it was going to take a rather convincing arguement to do so.
A cold wind was blowing this way. Sprucestar sat perched on the High Rock watching his clanmates below. They were bustling below. His tail lashed as he watched Rosethorn and Brackencall already disappearing through the entrance with a small group of warriors heading to Windclan, his son in tow with them. The leader would follow soon behind with a larger group of warriors. Leaping down from the Rock he yowled out for the rest of his warriors to gather. There was no room for failure here and now.

Hawktail immediately got to work piecing away at the weak barrier with Dogclaw. They needed to be fast and quiet.
Ravenfang took in a small breath. Okay, she would be fighting. While he understood and respected that she still had loyalty to her true clanmates, this meant Ravenfang was going to be thinking about her during the fight. Worrying. He had to prepare for that last minute. "We'll get it back."
Whispersong tried lumbering herself up after a few moments hesitation, wondering if this was some trick. But the moss she was laying on did have quite a bit of blood. Painfully moving to his nest, she set herself down. "I'll...try not to bleed on yours so much..." she mumbled.

With both cats working away at it, the barrier did start to fall away a lot quicker. Still, it probably wasn’t fast enough. Still Dogclaw couldn’t help, but feel somewhat relieved when the final layer of barrier fell away. Now they were in the camp. The Windclan warrior had his claws unsheathed ready to start fighting as soon as the barrier came down. Instead there weren’t many cats in the camp luckily. He looked to Hawktail. He didn’t see Whispersong right away and he was more than a little worried about just what that meant for them. He was hoping she was just hiding in one of the dens, although that was a whole new set of problems.
She sighed drawing up her shoulders a little. She looked over the tom for a moment before leaning forwards and lightly touched her nose to his before slowly drawing it back.. “Thank you Ravenfang.” She mewed softly with a smile. It was hard to say whether or not she honestly completely believed in that herself, but she was grateful to Ravenfang and the other cats willing to do fight for her brith clan’s freedom back.
She perked up a little when she caught sight of the small Thunderclan patrol starting to make their way across the moor. “It looks like duty calls.” Wrenflight mewed softly with tilt of her head.
As she was up on her feet he quickly gathered up the bloody moss peeling it away. He only looked up when she’d started to mumble something about trying not to bloody up his nest too. “How kind of you.” He sighed as he rolled away the moss, leaving it outside of the den. Scrunching his nose up he came back into the den shaking out his pelt.
Sitting down for a moment he looked over the She-cat somewhat uneasily. It wasn’t as if he was used to sharing his nest with a she-cat. “Do you need food or anything?” He asked rather abruptly lashing his tail a little.

Hawktail scented the air as soon as they stepped in. It reeked of a stank of Riverclan and Shadowclan mixed together, but there was no mistaking it. He could smell Whispersong, and...and blood. A look of horror seemed to come over his face.
He stepped into the clan with his claws unsheathed, ready for a fight. The first thing that he saw was some amount of depressed, beaten down looking Riverclan cats. He wasn't sure that anyone had noticed them yet.
He got back to his feet as she touched noses with him, a small smile taking his face though he still had plenty of different things on his mind that were dragging him down in this moment. "You're welcome, Wrenflight." once she called attention tot the Thunderclan patrol, he turned to look at them, his smile immediately vanishing and a large, exasperated sigh coming from the tom-cat. "I...I guess so..." He mumbled.
Whispersong bit her lip as he rather awkwardly attempted to accomodate her in his den. She nodded slightly. "I...I haven't had prey in...aah..." She couldn't remember. Every day had been pain and trying desperately not to offend the wrong cat and bring her sudden death. "Please..."

Dogclaw stepped into the camp after him. He didn’t see any signs of Whispersong. He frowned through when he did finally catch her scented intermingled with blood and Shadowclan. His claws unsheathed and his ears were constantly pivoting listen. Among the cats that he could make out in the came it was all Riverclan cats who looked rather worse for ware. It made his stomach churn. He narrowed his eyes as he caught sight of blood trail, smelling of Whispersong. His ears went flat against his head as he followed the trail right out of camp.
“She’s not here.” Dogclaw mewed quietly as he took a step backwards only to have one Riverclan cat turn to look directly at him and yelp in surprise cowering backwards. Cursing Dogclaw took another step back as the entrance started shaking. “We need to go now.” He hissed loudly to Hawktail. He was already starting to fall back as the first Shadowclan warrior came bursting through the entrance. She wasn’t here and they couldn’t win this fight. He was watching Hawktail to make sure he got out too. They wouldn’t live to tell the tale if they got caught.
Flattening her ears against her head she looked just about as happy to see Thunderclan as he had been. She quickly rose to her paws to get a better look at the cats coming. The patrol paused, seeming to spot them. “They’re coming this way great..” She trailed off with a sigh. It looks like Thunderclan was ready to move and they were expecting every other cat to be ready too.
Rosethorn’s annoying voice had been droning on and on in the deputy’s ear for far too long. He breathed a sigh when they finally got on to the moor. At least it would be over soon enough. He trudged on wanting more than anything to get rid of the medicine cat as quickly as possible. Brackencall only seemed to perk up when Rosethorn suddenly went silent for half a second. He turned to look where he was and took notice of the two cats in the distance. Brackencall flicked his tail in greeting before picking up a brisk pace to meet up with the cats leaving the rest of the patrol scrambling to cat up. He tipped his head when he saw it was Ravenfang and one of the Riverclan cats. “Ravenfang, I hope I’m not interrupting something.” He greeted with a formal dip of his head as they approached.
Frogstrike’s tail lashed violently behind him as she seemed to have forgotten the last time she’d eaten. “Okay.” He mewed rather shortly as he turned and stalked his way out of the den. He wished he could slice Petalstream’s ear off right about now. Just because she was Nightstar’s favorite for the moment didn’t mean it would last forever. Dawnstar was proof enough of that. He walked out the prey pile looking this way and that before quickly snagging up a mouse. Turning tail he retreated back into the medicine cat den hoping no cat would pay him much mind at all.

Hawktail noticed as soon as the cat had spotted Dogclaw, and he immediately gave growl of rage as Dogclaw concluded that Whispersong was not here. This was terrible. If she wasn't here, then she was....
He didn't have time to dwell on this as they were spotted by a Shadowclan warrior finally. He hissed and then backpedaled, getting ready to charge out behind Dogclaw. "Go!" He yowled. This was their only chance to get awayf rom an absolutely certain death, one that would be bloody and awful.
Ravenfang sighed quietly. "Just...play it cool." He began padding towards the patrol to meet them. "Sprucestar," He called to the head of the large patrol. "You aren't. Not at all. It is good to see you. My warriors are prepared--let's go to my camp, have a final talk of strategy, and then..." He exhaled the breath he had taken in. Then they launched the attack.
Petalstream's lethal glare was on the medicine cat the moment he stepped out of the den, seeming to be ready to slit his throat open the moment Nightstar looked away.

Dogclaw turned sharply to plunge through the entry point they had made. He let out a hiss of pain as his shoulder began throbbing with pain at the sudden movement. Huffing he awkwardly sprinted away from the camp and out through the opening. Diving and rolling through the opening he looked back before plunging himself into the cold water, paddling furiously as he floundered and struggled to keep his head above water.
Sprucestar flicked his tail as Ravenfang seemed to leave the obvious unsaid. “Let’s go then.” Sprucestar didn’t wait for the deputy to take the lead, instead leading the way himself, holding up his tail high as they walked across the moor. The leader had a rather grim look of determination. He felt it was time to get even with Shadowclan for their latest activities. Brackencall fell in behind his leader nodding to both cats before having to pick up his pace to keep up with Sprucestar. The massive tom setting a break neck pace.
Frogstrike frowned through the mouthful of fur as he caught sight of Petalstream. Despite the fact that he didn’t see her as much of a threat it would probably be in his best interest to stay out of her way for the time being. He couldn’t help, but roll his eyes a little as he disappeared back into the medicine cat den to drop at Whispersong’s paws.
