Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day ~Jan 24th 2018~
So, here's a little confession. Most people, naturally, have a huge, teethy smile. They can also wrinkle their foreheads, roll their eyes.. Okay, general facial movement. You get it. Well, I can't do that. My face doesn't move. At all. (well, I do have a tiny smile. That's it.)
Moebius Syndrome is one of many facial disorders. If you suffer from it, you will likely have at least partial paralysis of your face. If you have it bad, you may have your mouth permanently open with no way to close it, eyes that don't blink OR move, and you may even have to be fed with a tube. Thankfully, though, Lebby has this mild. Lebby can blink, and can manage a little smile. Her tongue is only partially paralyzed, and she can close her mouth. However, Lebby still cannot move her eyes or do general facial movements that most other people can do.
So, what am I doing to raise awareness for it? Obviously, posting on the forums. But what else? Well, every day I'm going to make some art, that you can put in your signature to raise awareness. This will go on until Jan. 24th. So, everyone, remember that you are lucky to have a physical smile! Because, some people don't. But they still have one. Not physically, but mentally. They do smile.
