Foreword
This story is based off of my in-game character, Cinder, and their adventures. This story will be told in Cinder's point of view. Cinder is a cat with a cowhide pelt and long fur. One of their eyes had been scratched out in a battle, so they always wear an eyepatch. They have black eyes. I will add updates to this every now and then. Anyways, onto the story!
Story
Prologue
So, kitten, I take it you're new around here. I was once in your paws, though that was long ago. Now, I'm just an old cat. Anyways, my name is Cinder. If you'd like to hear my story, you can stick around. Or, if you're the type who dislikes rambling, I suggest you go find someone else to occupy your time. So, would you like to hear of my adventures? Yes? Alright, I guess I'll start from the beginning, then.
Chapter One: A New Life
When I was a young kitten, I had lived in a human home - everything was nice there. I had lots of food, a comfortable shelter, and my humans cared for me. Then, a year or so later, I was abandoned. My humans dropped me off at the side of the road and left me there! At that point in time, I felt sad and hopeless. I had always thought that my humans would be there for me. I didn't know how to fight or catch prey. I had thought that I would starve to death, that is, if some other cat or fox or badger or what have you didn't kill me first.
Or so that was until another cat approached me. They told me that their name was Coco. After that, they showed me how to hunt, forage, and fight. Coco's lessons made me feel a shard of hope - that I would be able to survive in the wild. It then got even better from there! They told me about the Forest Colony, and so I followed them here. Well, I sure am glad I made that decision!
Anyways, after I got here, I met the other cats around these parts. Then, this place didn't feel like home to me yet. However, I was glad that everyone seemed friendly. And so, that was how the first few days were - just getting used to Colony life. I often spent my time in Forest West hunting with Scout in those first days. I admired their sneaking skills, and I was convinced that I could learn from them. Sometime later that summer, I gave Scout a mouse to show them that my hunting skills had improved. Needless to say, I was overjoyed when they liked it! By the end of my first summer, the Forest Colony was starting to feel like home.
Chapter Two: New Friends and New Experiences
During my first autumn in the Colony, I continued to give gifts to Scout every few days. It was mostly mice, as they seemed to like them the most, but I gave them a few other prey items as well. We were beginning to develop a friendship, and it made me glad. At the same time, my hunting and gathering abilities were improving. I felt proud of myself, and Scout's praises whenever I gave them a mouse added to that. Needless to say, it felt nice to finally have a trusted friend in my new home.
Though I mostly gave gifts to Scout, I would sometimes give something to other members of the colony. I always had a high level of respect for Mayor due to their role as leader. The same goes for Doc for being the healer. The only cat I wasn't too fond of was Missy - they always seemed to be bragging and talking about themself. I began to get bored of their constant self-centered rambling. Wasn't my cup of tea, y'know?
As the autumn drew to a close, I began to worry about the incoming winter. The air was getting more chilly, and I didn't exactly have the largest stash of prey or herbs. I was worried that I would starve. So, for the rest of that season, spent my time hunting and gathering up lots of food. In the end, I had gathered up quite a pile on the side of my den. It almost ended up being too much, to be honest. Though of course, at that time, I felt that I couldn't be too prepared. Even so, the pile made the den feel warmer and more cozy. It brought back memories of the fireplace from when I had lived with humans.
Chapter Three: First Winter
When winter came, it wasn't as bad as I had expected. It was cold, though my coat was fairly thick. It didn't really bother me. There was also less prey, but it there was still more than I had expected. My collection of prey had actually grown by the end of the season! Since I was beginning to feel that there wasn't enough space in my den, I ended up selling a few stale items of prey for some mews and decided to buy myself a scarf. I didn't need it to get through the winter, though I had thought it looked nice on me. So, I wore it everywhere - I wouldn't be lying if I told you I was obsessed with that scarf.
Even though those things were pleasant surprise, there was one thing I liked more. That was sliding on the ice. Since all the rivers and lakes were frozen, I loved to slide on their surfaces. That winter, I spent a lot of time at the Forest Lake. Whenever I wasn't hunting or doing some other duty, I was sliding on the ice. I was really still a kitten at that time - fiddling around was somewhat of an instinct.
During that season, I gave less gifts to Scout. Even so, I made sure to stop by their den every morning before they left to hunt. One day, they suddenly dropped a mouse in front of my paws and told me that I could have it. I was quite shocked - it wasn't what I was expecting. I didn't want to offend them, so I thanked them and took the mouse. A few days later, they gave me a second gift. The two of us were becoming good friends and I was happy.
