Robinflgiht heard soft paw steps. Luckily, they seemed some distance off. Robinflight got to her paws, shook out her fur, and went to look for a tree to hide behind. She bent low, attempting to blend in with the underbrush. It was hard, however, with her bright fur. She waited, ears pricked, for someone to appear. Robinflight wanted to see who it would be.

As soon as Crowfang reached the border and was clear of the reeds, she bolted along the shoreline towards the Gathering Isle. She didn't seem a bright patch in the darkness in Thunderclan's forest. She pelted along the shore as quick as she dared, aware that her pawsteps were thudding hard onto the ground. She slowed down as she reached horseplace; the stench of the horses bathed her tongue and drowned out any other scents. One of the beast was right next to the fence, snorting in its sleep.

Robinflight didn't recognize the cat, but guessed it was a she-cat. She stayed near the tress and quickly, but quietly, followed the paw prints left in the sand. Robinflight didn't think to smell the cat's scent, so she just kept going. She made her way to horseplace, and finally saw the she-cat looking up at a sleeping horse.

Crowfang slipped past the barn quietly, unaware she was being followed. Trotting over to the marshland in front of the Gathering Isle, she gasped as she sank into a thick patch of wet peat moss. Sinking to her knees, she pulled herself free and shook off the clinging wetness. She caught a glimpse of something light behind her, but thought it was the moonlight on a fern. Bounding from tussock to tussock, she scrambled up on the log that stretched between the shores, she ran across and disappeared into the island.

Robinflight held her breath as she watched the she-cat sink. Luckily, she got out. When the she-cat glanced quickly back at her, she went still. But she recognized those eyes! Crowfang? What're you doing out here? Robinflight watched Crowfang scramble towards the island. I'm going to lose her! She raced towards the island, but couldn't see her. Robinflight realized she was now completely visible to whatever eyes laid upon her.

Crowfang leapt lightly onto the island and quickly slipped into the bushes. Peering out behind her, she froze. Robinflight was on the other shore!Oh no! Please tell me she didn't seem me! Her heart thudding in her chest, she very quietly backed away, careful not to send the bush shuddering. As she reached the center of the island, she sniffed around, looking for something. The mixed smell of the clans lingered together, growing somewhat faint. It was less than a quarter moon til the gathering, almost a moon since she had been a warrior. She froze as she heard something shift the pebbles near the shore.

Robinflight's ear twitched. She heard something. Quitely, she called out "Crowfang?" Robinflight kept sniffing. Please Crowfang, this place is creepy at night. Robinflight scanned the area quickly, but she knew Crowfang's pelt wouldn't stand out like her's. Robinflight turned toward the shore, hearing the pebbles moving. She gazed into the darkness, trying to make out a shape.

Crowfang held her breath as a long legged, thick furred stocky tom emerged from the bushes. His dark brown fur had a blueish-gray sheen, made almost silver in the light. He bounded over to Crowfang. "No time to chat. Someone else is here." His voice was thick with regret. Crowfang pushed her muzzle to his for a moment. "It's one of my clanmates, Robinflight." She glanced around, trying to spot her light coat among the dying greenery. "We must wait for the next gathering." The tom blinked. "Troutstar suspects I was leaving tonight. Your clanmate may not be the only one here. Til the gathering." Licking her cheek and leaving a fishy stench in the air, he bounded towards the opposite shore, disappearing as quickly as he had come. Crowfang breathed in his scent for a moment, then ran for cover at the edge of the clearing. She nearly shrieked when she almost ran into Robinflight.

Robinflight gasped as Crowfang bolted towards her. "Crowfang, what are you doing here?" Robinflight didn't sound mad like she did when she saw Crowfang swimming, she sounded worried. "We shouldn't be here." Robinflight's eyes glanced around, something she did when she got nervous. "Were you meeting someone?" she said quietly.

Crowfang shook her head quickly. "No, I wouldn't betray my clan like that." Her voice shook, but that was more because she hadn't expected to almost literally run into Robinflight. "I sometimes come here to think, because I know no one would come across me here." She spoke quickly, hoping Robinflight would believer her. She hoped the smell of peat moss still stick on her legs would hide the fishy smell that lightly clung to her whiskers.

Robinflight decided not to press Crowfang anymore, she looked jumpy. She flicked her tail and said "Let's just go back then, and forget this... for now." She hoped Crowfang would agree to just leave. She kept feeling like she was being watched, but knew it was just her imagination. Robinflight couldn't really tell if Crowfang was lying, but she guessed that she was trying to hide something.

Crowfang nodded and forced her fur to lie flat. Padding towards the tree bridge, she spotted movement. SHe ducked low, hissing for Robinflight to do the same. The figure wasn't stocky, but large. A tom, but the stench of Riverlcan touched the air. It wasn't who she met though. She watched for a moment, but the figure was staring in her direction.

Robinflight bent down and stared at the tom. Definitely Riverclan. Was every cat in the forest awake tonight?! Robinflight let Crowfang take the lead on this, waiting for her command on what to do with this tom. I'm not meant to be a leader anyway. I'm better at following orders. Robinflight did, however, begin to start going forward slowly, aware of his gaze on her pelt.

The tom suddenly whipped around and raced back over the bridge, then turned for Riverlclan. Crowfang let out a heavy breath, not aware she had been holding it. "I think that was Pikeheart, Riverclan's deputy." Twitching her tail, she carefully padded out form the shadows. Aware that Robinflight could be seen much better than her, she pelted across the bridge and hid in the reeds. When Robinflight was safely hidden with her, she sighed. "I'm sorry you saw me leave and we almost got caught. I didn't know he would come here, or even leave his territory."
