What if after a day or two prey that you caught went bad? This would make the game a little more difficult because once you become a better hunter catching prey gets a lot easier and the game isn't as difficult. You could still eat it but it would take away some of your health and wouldn't fill up your hunger as much.

I think we need a difficulty level, basically like
Easy level Prey stays good forever Cats arent that hard to fight and other stuff
Medium Prey goes bad after a week Cats are like they are now to fight other stuff
Hard Prey goes bad after 3 days cats a very difficult to fight

Personally, I like that we can keep our food, and it would be pretty upsetting to me if I had to switch to easy mode to keep my prey from spoiling, because I like when battling is challenging.

Maybe we could have diffrent options at the beginning of the game to keep everyone happy, Beacause i like the difficult fighting to!
Like you can set how long tell prey expires it could range from 1 day to 1 season. Also with that you can set the difficulty in battling!

I don't like decay. It's an archaic mechanic that just punishes players for playing the game, usually in a different way. There's rarely a game where I do like it.
Can't survive winter? work double hard in summer and survive. Oh, wait your hard work won't actually work.
Plus, I'm a player where collecting items and rare food -is- the game for me, so I'd be really upset and probably not find the game fun anymore if we couldn't prepare for bad hunting days or keep trophies.

I definitely think something like that could work, but perhaps similar to UT you could bury your catches to make it last longer/indefinitely, or maybe simply putting it in your den would work the same. Branching off this, it would be interesting if say, you had a full inventory and forgot to bury your prey - it could then possibly attract threats such as rival cats to that tile the following day, and go bad if forgotten there.

If you left herbs outside, perhaps they could slowly rot? But if you kept them inside, they'd stay good forever?

I honestly don't think that having a decay system in the game would be fun for anyone. Like shian said above, it just punishes the player for just playing the game. I think a decay mechanic's only purpose would be to make the game less fun- people can certainly set their own challenges for food, such as selling or getting rid of your food if you leave it out for too long, but including a mechanic that isn't really necessary would be more of an inconvenience than it would be fun. I feel like if it were included, there would immediately be backlash against it. I really don't see this as any more than a way of making the game less fun for people who want to play a different way.
